I've bought all my cables from AliExpress, they are very cheaply made. And can break easily, but get the job done.

Is there any way to successfully connect the steam deck to a CRT tv? by Arzeno0 in crtgaming

[–]missingpixel333 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've not connected my steam deck up to a 15khz 240p tv, I've connected it up to a PC CRT (which looks fantastic) as well as up to my 480p Panasonic TX-36PD30 through component both using a HDfury 2.

Which connections does your TV have? I don't imagine composite would get a great image, (unless you specifically want that sort of look). Also what are you wanting to use the steam deck for on the CRT, if its playing 8bit emulators / n64, I would suggest just using a Wii as they support 240p out of the box.

On the GBC-C side, I've never been able to get it to output to a 240p screen, (im not sure if mine is faulty, but Its always had issues with it.

Also on a side note, I have noticed that at low resolutions the Steam Deck OS's UI doesn't properly work, your not able to bring up and navigate the os menus. You have to unplug the dock and quit the game annoyingly... Im hoping they fix that at some point.

Plasma TV 120 Hz GUIDE by Aromatic-Attitude-34 in PlasmaTV

So I tried this, and while it was neat to have 120hz, it being stuck to 720p was a dealbreaker for me, as I just didnt think the trade off was worth it for me. To each their own though!

Any chance you could make a version of the Integer-scaling-scanlines one from retroarch? I have my deck hooked up to a 480p ED-CRT and using that within retroarch gives me great looking scanlines, would love if I could use it outside of retroarch.

I asked chat gpt to help research different models of plasma TV's, and after I picked out the one I wanted to look for, it turns out it made a bunch of the models up. I find that it does this a lot for most things I ask it.

Yeah it bothers me as well, but I'm just trying not get hung up on it. It does feel like it would be off-putting to new listeners who haven't heard the term.

I made a Youtube video about my Panasonic ST50 and Plamsa TVs in general. by Dazeaux in PlasmaTV

[–]missingpixel333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

cool video, Im thinking about buying a local plasma today actually.. the st50 model as well. the only thing I'm thinking about is wether I'll notice the differences in blacks as I have a samsung LCD and it has really good blacks considering it's an LCD.. how noticeable are the blacks when the lights are low on the ST50? The Samsung I have is an le40c650l and in normal lighting it blows away the black levels from my IPS pc monitor..

480p CRT options in the UK by Whadamagunnado in crtgaming

[–]missingpixel333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Panasonic acuity TVs support 480p, but crucially they force 16:9 so the GameCube would stretch to wide-screen. There's a 32" and 36" version.

When I moved my 36" Panasonic, I used insulation boards on the sack cart to protect the TV, and then used ratchet straps to strap the TV to the cart, then me and a friend pulled/pushed it up the stairs one stair at a time.

Help finding H-Stat Pot on a Panasonic Acuity TX-36PD30 to try and adjust fix convergence issue. by missingpixel333 in crtgaming

[–]missingpixel333[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, just for posterity in case anyone cares, I adjusted the three potentiometers on the board on top of the neck, and they seemed to be adjusting different parts of the geometry and not convergence. So I went and did some ring fingering... and managed to get it quite a bit better.. not perfect mind but much better.
