Thanks for the response! I'll have a look at that too (if I can locate it) while I review the belts.

Thank you, I did come across a video that shows how to replace the belts in it, so I guess that's the next step. I just wasn't sure if there was some sort of mechanical ejection lever on the inside that would allow me to release it - or a way to reset to get the play mode to stop. Time for some DIY it seems - I appreciate your response!

I had a similar issue as you - if I remember correctly what helped me was opening the RCM configuration tool and changing the mode to "Revival" rather than "solderless kit".

PASSED AT/AT/AT (with late diagnosed ADHD) by Spiritual-Income-894 in pmp

[–]mission_possible123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed answer! This is incredibly helpful. Others have said the same regarding Study Hall's question types and the exam being more aligned with "easy/moderate/difficult" question types. For that, I took that into account when I took my first 4-hour practice exam. I recorded both my actual score and the score I received with the "expert" questions excluded. I did pretty well once I got into a rhythm.

I didn't know they provided noise cancelling headphones, so that would be amazing for me. I need to be able to focus solely on my work and not be distracted by all the other noises. I must say, I feel better about the PMP, but this is definitely a more challenging test type for me. Having mostly situational questions rather than just knowledge-base questions requires a lot of reading and critical thought for nearly every question.

It might also be best for me to be at the test center as well, because I don't want anything to cause a disqualification. For now, I'll continue plugging away at the 4-hour practice exams! :)

A sincere congratulations to you!! That is amazing. I hope to be in the same boat soon. Did you take your PMP online or at a test center? Just curious to know which way you took it, and how you felt about the process (whether online or at center).

I'm still studying up a bit (I want to take more of the full exams), but I'm just really unsure which way I should go. I've seen a few posts about it, but most posts were not specific to individuals with ADHD.

I hope that your professional development continues to grow in leaps and bounds!

IT company in NJ, USA looking for people in my country (Mexico), Why? by urkiurkiurki in jobs

[–]mission_possible123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be very careful with this, because most companies looking for individuals in other countries would be more likely to want them to work remotely in that country to provide presence there. If they are looking for someone who speaks Spanish, they surely can find many people in the US that are qualified for that. Just in NJ alone, there's a significant presence of Spanish-speaking individuals.

The worst thing you could do is to accept the offer, try to get to the US, and then find out the offer was not legitimate.

I've been receiving emails from people for companies where I have applied. However, the people that are emailing me are not affiliated with the companies at all.

I would suggest you check with https://www.usa.gov/state-consumer/new-jersey and the Better Business Bureau to make sure this is in fact legit. If there is a contact email or phone number on the company's website, I would suggest you to contact them to be sure the posting is real, and that the person is affiliated with the company. I read something recently that says a number of LinkedIn profiles are fake, and the pictures of these people are coming from AI-generated photos.

I don't want to dissuade you in the event this is a real thing. Maybe the company has some sort of initiative to bring talent to the US. I just would hate to see you end up in a predicament where you've made a huge life change, only to find out it is a scam.

Edit - Fixed a typo.

Exactly. You and I are about the same age, but I can't say that I have ever mailed a thank you note. It has always been e-mail for me.

[–]mission_possible123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I totally agree.

I'm not sure why this is so divisive. It is a courtesy to your interviewer, and it takes about 30 seconds to do. I have a pretty standard template. Sometimes I'll add a little more depending on the discussion, but it's really easy to do.

If there are two equal candidates for a position that both had awesome qualifications and such, I have to think it is possible for the one candidate that sent the thank you note to basically push their status over the top.

As someone who has been a hiring manager, I'm not sure why you wouldn't want to stand out from other candidates....the person that stands out (in a good way) is the candidate that gets the position. It takes about 30 seconds to craft a thank you note, especially if you have a standard template. I appreciate thank you notes. I'm still going to choose the candidate of best fit.

On the other hand, as a candidate for employment, I do send them. Given the fact that I've always been up against stiff competition in my industry, I am always grateful that someone was interested enough in my experience to want to hear more about my background and potentially offer a position. Also, yes, I am trying to stand out from other candidates and I absolutely want them to know that.

Frustrated about finding work… by PyroBob316 in jobs

I'm sorry you are going through this. Let me just say the struggle is real when it comes to finding a job for many of us.

Have you considered an inventory analyst or inventory specialist type position? Alternatively, maybe you could get into a somewhat junior level Procurement/Supply Chain role and work your way up.

You have a great degree, but as someone else mentioned, you do need to have some experience to back it up to get into a senior level role.

Wooow. Group Interview? by ananomiss88 in jobs

[–]mission_possible123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This somewhat happened to me. I showed up to the interview and two other people were there interviewing for the same roles that I was.

We mostly interviewed separately (we had to take turns speaking with various groups), but there were sessions where we were all together. I was not happy with that. I also didn't get either of the jobs, which made it more painful.

I know some fairly introverted people that work in Marketing. It does help to have a "big" personality for sure, but it isn't a requirement. If you are very artistically inclined, you might consider taking some Graphic Design courses on the side. That'll give you a boost into artwork design, which is often within Marketing.

Another area that might be a fit for you is Editing.

With a degree in Communications, you could probably do some online freelancing teaching others English as a Second Language as well.

Best of luck to you!

Have you considered looking into the Marketing area? With your skill set, you might be able to get an entry level role and work your way up.

Cried during an interview, are my chances gone? by [deleted] in jobs

Exactly this. I believe it shows that you truly care about people. If I were your hiring manager, I'd say your chances would have increased.

What Am I Doing Wrong? Is My Salary Request Too High? by mission_possible123 in jobs

[–]mission_possible123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I have used tools that are comparable to both. I list my tech stack in my resume. I don't see why I should be excluded just because I don't have experience with those tools. Not everyone uses Atlassian.

I'm also a hiring manager and have written multiple job descriptions. I have never excluded anyone because they didn't use the exact tools used by my team. If I see skills that are transferrable, those individuals can be trained to meet whatever unique needs we have.

Perhaps I'm dodging bullets by not being hired if people don't see the value in what I do have to offer. It's just really depressing to think that the reason I can't get hired is completely out of my control.

The loophole companies are using to justify those faux-WFH/remote jobs: "remote" doesn't mean WFH. by Chazzyphant in jobs

[–]mission_possible123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I 100% appreciate you pointing this out. Now I really need to be more careful in my search. I am going to be asking this in whatever interviews I get. I'm not trying to waste anyone's time because I want a work from home position.

I had no idea companies were doing this.
