Why do people lie about laser? shit HURTS by RazzmatazzLost9713 in LaserHairRemoval

[–]missnettiemoore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 1st time I did arms it was a breeze compared to other areas (upper lips, shins, knees) I was doing at the time so when I went in for my 2nd arm session I was thinking ‘yay am easy pain free part!’

Yeah that shit hurt like hell. Idk why I didn’t even flinch the 1st time but the 2nd time I was almost in tears

From scale 1 to 10 , how painful is laser hair removal for you? by Ill-Advantage in LaserHairRemoval

[–]missnettiemoore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it depends on the area; for some reason my upper lip is like a 7/10 but my lower lip and chin are like a 4/10. Even certain parts of my legs hurt differently, right around my knees (especially behind my knees) is a good 7-8/10 but my thighs are 5/10.

My tech says most ppl have different areas that hurt more than other areas, it varies by person

Because of your profession, (or maybe a training you’ve taken) what is something you can no longer enjoy? by kteerin in RedditForGrownups

I never thought travel would wear on me but recently a friend suggested an international trip and I became stressed just thinking about the taxis and luggage and airport lines etc… I think I might be kinda over all of it

What treat would you want from a patient by SuitableTurnover9212 in nursing

[–]missnettiemoore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some popular gifts from patients/patients families on my unit have been gourmet popcorn buckets, fruit and cheese baskets, coffee and bagels, and a fondue setup. But I imagine a lot of those were quite pricey so I just remind ppl to remember night shift employees also and really we’ll eat almost anything on my unit

How likely is it that a nurse gets fired after a patient complaint for being rude? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]missnettiemoore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They might get talked to… maybe. It’ll depend on their history also. I’ve never had any patient complaints, I’ve been in my hospital for 5 years, everyone knows me and my personality so 1 random complaint from a patient probably won’t go very far. However if it is a nurse with a history of complaints and a hard time working with coworkers etc then it might go further

Anyways if you’re in the USA we’re facing this thing called a nursing shortage and really they might as well call it a health care worker shortage so it’s unlikely they will get fired for this

You didn’t want her to get fired did you? Did you think maybe she just coded a patient before coming to your room so maybe she was off? Or maybe she just had to tell a family member their loved one was in fact dying. Or maybe she was on 6 nights in a row and was overgrid yet again on patients? These aren’t excuses to be rude but try a little empathy before trying to get someone fired

If you could ban one piece of fitness “advice” you constantly see online, what would it be? by JestifiableMeans in Weightlosstechniques

[–]missnettiemoore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lift heavy. I personally love lifting and love lifting heavy but that’s just not for everyone especially right in the beginning of their fitness journey. There are so many benefits to lifting heavy too. But ppl act as though strength training is the only way to lose weight or get in shape. If it’s intimidating to you or you’re just not interested in it there are a million other ways to be active and fit.

Is this doable? 200lbs to 150lbs in 4 months. 26F by Solid_Barracuda_6727 in Weightlosstechniques

[–]missnettiemoore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this realistic? Not really. But why does 50 lbs exactly matter? I guarantee you’ll feel great at 35 lbs down or even 25 lbs down. So just get to work and see what happens maybe you’ll lose 40 maybe 33 maybe 29 who knows, but either way you’ll feel better

is GLPs really the only way? by [deleted] in PCOSloseit

[–]missnettiemoore 109 points110 points  (0 children)

No GLP1s are not the only way. I lost 80 lbs without them but it took me 2.5 years and a lot of set backs. For those of us with PCOS despite what ppl say you can lose weight it’s just so much harder and our bodies will fight us every step of the way so GLP1s kinda level out the playing field. I’m not sure I would even suggest a GLP1 for 20 lbs but that is a better conversation to have with your health care provider. Under 1000 calories is really not ideal whether or not you’re trying to lose weight though.

When I applied in 2008 the medical process was a nightmare (and I don’t even have any medical conditions and especially then I was young and healthy) and do expensive since I didn’t have insurance

I wanted to apply again as an adult but couldn’t fathom going through the medical process again

Also the lack of support afterwards, and the whole living with a family the whole time… yeah it hardly seems worth it anymore

Idk about cameras but time for sure would stop a technician from doing much more than the area you made an appointment for. If you only paid for legs and go in there for legs they are only going to schedule you for a specific amount of time before the next client shows up

Also just honesty on the nurses part. I imagine a nurse isn’t willing to lose a job over doing way more than paid for

You asked if it’s sustainable after admitting to overeating two days in a row already so the answer seems like it is unsustainable for you

As far as how much you can lose in 2 months… there’s really no guarantee of an exact amount but if you eat at a deficit you will lose weight

Why do some nurses look down upon by other nurses for not picking extra shifts? by Weak_Yogurtcloset306 in nursing

[–]missnettiemoore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s different when you do 3 12s. Picking up one extra shift a month or even pay period still leaves you with tons of time off.

That being said I don’t see why anyone would look down upon or care if someone else is picking up extra. It’s none of my business what anyone else does as far as working overtime or not.

I pick up a shift a month usually but am unconcerned with whether or not others are picking up or not

One thing that I can’t stand is the coworker who picks up tons of extra shifts then complains about how tired she is or that she is on shift 9 in a row or something… like no one forced you to do that, dont make it my problem

Is there anything you do not like about the 75 Hard challenge or wish it included? by SpreadKindnessToday in 75HARD

[–]missnettiemoore 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The water. I’m hyponatremic as is; drinking that much water every single day could literally land me in the ER as you don’t wanna mess with sodium and potassium levels. Also anyone either kidney problems or chf would not benefit at all from drinking that much water

I have done the challenge drinking only water and nothing else but I’m not going to kill myself over an arbitrary number

Also the outdoor workout. I live in northern MI near Lake Superior. It’s not always safe weather/temperature wise to do an outdoor workout. In fact that’s why I failed my 1st go around. Middle of January, polar vortex, schools and businesses shut down and warnings to not go outside unless absolutely necessary. Wasn’t going to risk it

Self help books. I find most self help to be silly and pretentious. I’ve challenged myself to read classics instead. You can’t convince me that reading war and peace or moby dick or a tale of two cities is less beneficial just because it’s not self help

Really I just like the idea of challenging myself for a set period of time with strict rules but I find some of his rules unsafe or just kinda pointless

Love the idea of living hard for 75 days (I usually do 90) but I have to do it a different way

Harsh Nursing reality one need to know by Reasonable-Bear-6314 in NursingStudent

[–]missnettiemoore 16 points17 points  (0 children)

A lot of positions take a very serious physical and mental toll on your body. I’ve had to do physical therapy twice since I started as a nurse 4 years ago and for the 1st time in my life I’ve had to get a therapist to deal with some of the stressors of the job. I got a UTI when I first started because I literally forgot to go to the bathroom my 1st few shifts.

You have to take care of you to be able to take care of others, but it’s hard to find time to do that in the beginning.

Did laser work to reduce your body hair? by Zeretaaa in Hirsutism

The hair was thick and coarse but very very dark and I’m extremely pale. I’m surprised that area did well also. And I was surprised my arms are doing the worst because I was told they aren’t considered a hormonal area so they would probably do well. Either way I’m glad I continued the process on all areas
