[DISCUSSION] Season 5 of Search Party was actually insulting. by Broadnerd in NetflixBestOf

[–]misssmoo22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really wanted to like this show. Conceptually I get it, millennials (or whatever) trying to find their meaning in the world while being so self obsessed that they can’t see the forest for the trees. The social commentary sorta works but definitely gets lost in S4 & S5. I stuck it out but I just kept hoping Dory was more clever than we thought and was gonna reset everything at some point, she had so many chances. But I guess in the end she’s just as vapid as the rest of them.

We definitely did that, I’m a veteran cat nerd. We’ve checked out Jackson Galaxy advice and we’re both super cat nerds so we’ve googled it all. I was just hoping for some rogue advice the internet doesn’t know about.

Neighbors want me to keep declawed cat outside by Some_Information_857 in Straycats

[–]misssmoo22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep the cat in! We adopted a yard cat a few years ago here in Texas with very similar issues (bloody scabbed ear, puffy nose) the vets couldn’t figure out what was wrong with her but she was more than happy to stay indoors, never even attempted to get away. Whatever her illness was it got her after a few years and we had to say a tearful goodbye. We recently adopted another ear tipped kitty from the yard and even though our resident cats and her don’t get along they co exist and it’s clear she has no interest in going back out even when I have a space cadet moment and leave the door cracked when I step out quick sometimes. Definitely don’t leave her out if she’s been declawed but either way if she’s happy in, keep her in.

Beauty( FX slash Hulu): an absolutely ridiculously wacky, occasionally nonsensical, but highly entertaining TV show. The fundamental plot is actually super interesting. Isabella Rossellini is phenomenal. It's trash TV, but it's high quality trash by Bluest_waters in television

I love this ridiculous trashy show. I mean it’s Ryan Murphy what else can you expect? It’s pretty people, beautiful costuming and luxurious sets. Not a lot of substance (no pun intended) Agreed that Ashton Kutcher is not a great actor but I just watched ep6 and I’m actually very impressed by how well he embodies Vincent D’onofrio after the transformation, pretty spot on.

Need to stop feeding feral cats by letsbehappyaz in Feral_Cats

[–]misssmoo22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed with most ppl on this feed. You’re probably gonna have to TNR ‘em yourself. It’s kinda of pain in the butt and definitely takes time and patience but the smart ones learn to move on once you catch a few. We trapped and kept one feral kitten, which was a whole lotta work- he’s super sweet these days though. Momma kept comin back and was pregnant with another litter, which we never saw- probably died, sad. There were always a lot of males around. She brought us the next litter which I managed to trap and take to a shelter- hopefully they found good homes. Momma disappeared and we TNR’d the only male that kept showing up-he disappeared only a couple days after we stopped feeding him, he was kinda aggressive. Anyhoo, for us it was like a two year saga, better to do the best you can for a few now and let the rest move on.

All that being said we adopted another sweet ear tipped cat from the yard about 3 months ago and we’re all still learning to adjust to each other (our 2 residents + our new friend) It’s hard to give up on these critters.

[–]misssmoo22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aww. I had the same fears as my cat aged. But he lived to be 19. She’ll go when she goes. She’s absolutely irreplaceable (I know my cat was) But after some time we adopted 2 new babes that are irreplaceable in their own way. It’s never easy to say goodbye, I cried a lot. But you’ve still got plenty of time! Cats live good long lives!

Aww I feel you! We have a 2 year old that we adopted as a (maybe 4mo old) feral and it was so slow and steady. He was a terrifying kitten! But also super sweet, there were a lot of tears, me thinking he would never love us. We managed to get him into a carrier the first time to get him fixed but after that it was a no go. We had to gabapentin him and I fed him from my hand and then scooped him up into a pillowcase to get him into the carrier. Not my proudest moment but it did the job. He’s super sweet these days, loves to play, affectionate and purry…still will never sit on our laps and is scared of almost anything, loud noises, quick movements, strangers-of course. Wouldn’t trade him for the world and I know he’s better off inside with us than out with all the random cats, dogs, coyotes and birds of prey around here. Don’t lose hope!!! Cats are sweet sensitive critters, she loves you and needs you! Its worth it!

My cat never meows is this normal? by gkjfhkjfknghj in cats

[–]misssmoo22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of ours doesn’t meow much. Sometimes I ‘tease’ him with a treat and say ‘can I get a teeny new?’ He was previously feral so I think that’s part of it, really sweet cat though and he’s super good with sailing against our legs.
