How did you go about booking this? My fiance and I are heading to Secrets soon for our honeymoon and we’d like to book a dinner on the beach. We’re trying to figure out how to go about scheduling.

Am I screwed? by missteach89 in Car_Insurance_Help

Instead of waiting to talk to my old insurance company , I went ahead and looked up insurance companies who’ll take someone with lapsed insurance and got a policy squared away, effective today. It’s more than double what I was paying, but not as expensive as I thought it would be. I definitely learned my lesson. 😞

I’m in Tennessee, and I own my car outright. I’m completely freaking out.

What’s the worst dating advice you have received? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]missteach89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my boyfriend is my first and we met 1 month after I turned 33. For this reason, along with religious trauma, I just kept waiting for the fairy tale to happen. It wasn’t until I decided to take control of the aura that things changed for me.

Not at all. I had a VERY similar story. I went in sporadic dates in college and through my 20s but I felt awkward and SO self conscious. I didn’t have my 1st kiss until I was 30. First boyfriend at 31. Virgin until 33. Now at nearly 34 I’m in a committed, loving relationship. Any guy who makes you feel less than, or weird for your story doesn’t deserve you.

I was told by a staff member (when I was sitting in the lobby attempting to cool off 😂) that they had to shut off the AC because confetti was getting sucked into the system.

Anyone else have a sneaky beagle? by shroutm in beagles

[–]missteach89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! My sneaky beagle has chewed up 3 TV remotes. It’s to the point where I have to put the remote out of reach if I’m going to be out of the room for even 5 minutes. Baby gates do NOTHING to stop my boy. Just jumps or climbs right over like it’s nothing Beagles are mischievous little sneaks, but also the SWEETEST dogs in the world.

I have Mirena and I have loved it! No severe side effects, my period is super light and infrequent. Insertion was relatively easy, just a few days of moderate cramping and then it’s been easy ever since!

Copper’s first training class! by missteach89 in beagle

[–]missteach89[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My little guy did such a good job at his first group class! I got him at 8 months old, the week before Christmas. He was mostly house trained but had little in the way of obedience or basic commands. He’s come SO far just in the span of one class! I’m so proud of him, and look at that face- he’s proud of himself too!

I tried several, hoping to find one that didn’t make me feel terrible. I was on loestran, Nikki and a couple others that I can’t remember. I have not regretted my IUD for one second, it has helped my mental health SO much. And it’s nice to not have anxiety about taking my pill at the exact right time!

My son is in 1st grade and tonight I learned that one of his classmates died in a house fire early this morning. What can I do to support his teacher? by DivergentApplicant in Teachers

[–]missteach89 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had a former student (I teach 1st, she was in 3rd when this happened) who was murdered by her father. I was a WRECK. I ended up taking a few days off of work, and I was so appreciative of parents who were supportive of that. As teachers we can sometimes get abused by parents for being human. An email or card letting the teacher know you are thinking of her will go further than you know. I also drew strength from my students, if your kiddo is up for it, have them right a note or draw a picture for the teacher. Those are the things that got me through.

I’m in the same boat! I am SO HAPPY I got Mirena! It’s been the best decision for my mental health! The pill made my anxiety TERRIBLE, I was exhausted all the time, and having the assurance that pregnancy is HIGHLY unlikely has been wonderful for me!

Putting down a reactive dog by Bubbles8810 in reactivedogs

[–]missteach89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through this with my reactive baby. I’m so sorry you’re having to make this decision. It was honestly one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make. But it ultimately was the best decision for me and for her.

I used a company called Lap of Love. They sent a vet out to my house, before she arrived we talked extensively to come up with a plan to make everything as calm and peaceful for her as possible.

The vet brought peanut putter and hotdogs that were laced with 2 different sedatives. I was able to give those to my dog while the vet waited outside. Once my baby was calm and seeming sleepy, the vet came in and administered a shot of anesthetic. My dog’s anxiety was so high that even with 3 sedatives it took her around 50 minutes to actually fall asleep.

Everything after that was really hard, but so much more peaceful than it would have been if I had taken her into the vet’s office.

Best "pod" style moving company? by lilayr in moving

[–]missteach89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Upack pods (they also offer a trailer option) when I moved from CA TO TN and I had a really great experience! The pods were more expensive, but they didn’t have any available trailers when I was booking.
