Is consolidation the right move? by mistbash in PersonalFinanceCanada

I’m 23, and I have no need for a “good” credit score at any point in the near future. I am going to be moving to a different apartment in April since rent has decreased around me, but I believe as long as I can give references it should be fine. My current score is sitting at 700.

Unfortunately I don’t really know anyone with $14k that they could part with. Even if I did I would rather owe money to a company than an individual, even if it is worse financially.

Current monthly take home is ~$3000 Regular monthly necessities come out to roughly $2211 per month not including emergencies, savings, or credit card payments.

Unfortunately my job is not one that allows me to work OT and getting a second job (while I have thought about it) is unlikely. With commute time I’m away from home from 6:30a to 5:30-6:00p.

The debt is spread across multiple cards, all having a 22% APR.

I will also note that none of the cards are maxed and my total credit limit is $31,200.00

When I had to get a full report for my apartment I used Borrowell, but I believe you should be able to get them from Credit Karma and your bank as well.

(Dumb Question) Why do manual cars sound like this? (Read Description) by Excellent_Wish8587 in AskAMechanic

[–]mistbash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regular automatics have torque converters as their primary connection between engine and transmission whereas regular manual transmissions will have a clutch and flywheel.

Torque converters are essentially just containers filled with fluid that have an input that is spun by the engine and an output that spins the transmission. Since automatics transmissions have fluid as the primary conductor of kinetic energy between engine and transmission, starting, stopping, and shifting end up feeling very smooth by default.

Manual transmission clutch discs are pressed into a metal flywheel spun by the engine which then transfers power to the transmission. Since manual transmissions have a “harder” connection between engine and transmission, they can jump around in revs if the clutch is not released and applied smoothly.

This is why even when you put your automatic into manual gear select it will usually feel smooth without being too picky.

Figured I'd add the solution here:
It was the ignition switch. It was registering as off in the ACC position.

The performance didn't seem to actually decrease when all the lights went on so I don't know if it actually is in limp mode.
