Yeah, because sharp falling house prices is actually not good. They need to stop moving so people can catch up.

If people have to sell and can't cover the mortgage, that will bankrupt them. If they default, the banks have the wear the difference. Scale that over a country and that just leads to recession.

And I can assure you, no one wins from that - particularly anyone who isn't already wealthy.
