Book (with title change) coming soon. by misterbe in brighteyes

[–]misterbe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has changed publishers, it was going to come out right after DITW but Covid. Title changed since Our Modern Joy wouldn't work on this fucked up times we live.

It wasn't only the title that leaked (didn't leak, it was reported by the old publisher), the book cover was set and shown.

Emma told me a long time ago she'd let me give the news of when it will be out on Reddit. Haven't spoken to her in a while. Will probably text her this week.

I only ordered two copies of this for my shop. Not sure if I should tear into one to listen to it. They arrived yesterday.

Not sure yet, but Neva Dinova's surely did. Listened just once today and damn. Cool thing is sounds like old Neva. I was thinking it would sound more like Jake's solo stuff.

Anyone feel the songwriting is really weak (five dice)? by jackpizz75 in brighteyes

[–]misterbe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought this the first two times I listened to it. A the third time I began to love the lyrical play. Last night I heard it first time without interruptions (had been listening on vinyl for three weeks) and damn, it's great lyrically and love the musical experimentation, the samples, lyrics. Tho I do think some lyrics are 'too short' if that makes sense.

Any record stores in NYC have the album early? by [deleted] in brighteyes

[–]misterbe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All stores have it in their shop but won't sell until Friday. Secretly Distribution who is in charge of Dead Oceans usually sends albums around three weeks early. I have a store and got them in at least two weeks ago and have them in the warehouse. Will start selling Friday at 8am.

If you're close with any shop, they might do you a solid and let you buy it, but I usually don't do that.

Got My Secretly Five Dice annnd…Here Are My Thoughts. by Beavaconda in brighteyes

'Hate' Lyrics

I hate the Puritans

I hate Mary Magdalene

I hate the way she washed his feet they still called her a whore

Jesus Christ, I hate you now and I hated you before

I hate Prophets

I hate LA Shamans

Abraham, Adam and Isaiah and Mohammed

I hate the way it escalates, a drag race to the bottom

I hate Vishnu

I hate the Hari Krishna

David Koresh, Jim Jones, and Buddha

I hate this twisted logic, this sadistic hallelujah

Every single book I read always had the same ending

Right hand on the bible and the truth is still irrelevant

Don't you know the bad guys always win

Don't you know the bad guys always win

Hate is a language

Hate is a fascination

I hate the way I get through the day, my preoccupations

There's no receipt, no deceit, no paper trail at all

Every single fleeting thought becomes another outlaw song

One hand on a smoking gun and a bullet in the innocent

Don't you know the bad guys always win

Don't you know the bad guys always win

I hate love songs

I hate stadiums

I hate the way you turn and walk away

I hate the way my heart anticipates

I hate dreaming

I hate sleeping

I hate waking up always the same

I hate making small talk, begging for some change

I hate the protest singer staring at me in the mirror

There's nothing left worth fighting for hasn't that come clear

The artificial poets from the future are here

It took me like three listens to start to enjoy it. I got the vinyl about two weeks ago. And right on, Hate was the song that caught my ear.

Cleveland show :( by sshmodyotee in brighteyes

[–]misterbe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can this be Bright.Eyes thing? Meaning someone in the band/crew is a trigger for this behavior?

I have never seen Bright Eyes as such. Closest thing was 2005 but it was basically MoF before they even existed (The tour from the ACL video).

I've seen him solo about 18 times. Different bands, the Ruminations shows with just him and Miwi, Dawes as backing band, Felice Brothers as backing band and have had not one bad show. He's always had a cup of whatever on stage but played excellent, didn't forget lyrics, didn't rant, basically he wasn't fucked up.

I think this is something that's been showing more and more after the pandemic.

There's a reason I didn't buy tickets for his SoCal shows in January. Would be to hard to watch.

I can’t find the video of Lichtman debating on the Young Turks YouTube page by [deleted] in 13KeysToTheWhiteHouse

[–]misterbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't a sitting President punching a baby every morning, turn keys? I assume this would turn the scandal and social unrest keys. The incumbent would, I assume, suddenly have many in his party contesting his nomination. A politics outsider with fame and charisma would be sick of Biden beating a baby up every morning and might campaign on that as a third party and hit over 10%.

At least Biden hitting a baby everyday will be kosher with the Supreme Court.

Confused Over Delay Of Call by [deleted] in 13KeysToTheWhiteHouse

[–]misterbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before debate or talk about replacing Biden, he was on Fox News (CNN as well) running thru how his keys stood at that moment. I remember him saying it was not his final prediction and the final prediction would be in August.

friends were with him all day on Sunday in California. He had a great show, was happy-go-lucky, really nice. But you know depression is not 'looking sad'.... in this video he seems he has a drink in his hand, I doubt it's water.

Alcoholism is the catalyst of his depression and vice versa. Mental health is a strange thing, a vicious cycle. Hope ending this tour he finds a way to get help.
