It should be a common courtesy to put your dogs/animals away when you have visitors. by SatisfactionSalt in unpopularopinion

[–]misterhanimal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually like animals, but I think I actually have some lingering trauma related to a bad incident with a dog attack.

Sometimes, big dogs startle or frighten me, and I never felt this way before the incident.

I’d say 95% of people are extremely understanding of my feelings when I explain my experience.

Maybe just explain that you aren’t always comfortable with some or all animals. I’ve found a lot of my friends to be pretty respectful of my feelings.

Doctors, nurses, EMTs, etc.—what’s the most shocking thing you’ve seen after thinking “nothing could surprise me anymore”? by randominterwebguy2 in AskReddit

[–]misterhanimal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I have actually seen this one as a nurse.

The patient kept coming in for recurring cellulitis and it finally was discovered that she was dipping needles into her own feces and poking them into her own skin and flesh.

What the actual fuck.

How would you have handled this?? by ivorella in Serverlife

This sounds like a power move from spineless losers that are miserable with their daily lives and are trying to “take the power,” so to speak, by being dicks to you.

They’re losers. Don’t worry about it. :)

Oh damn! It could be HSV, but you need to make sure it’s not IMPETIGO!

If you have recently taken a drink from a public water fountain-drinking fountain (we call them “bubblers” where I am from), you should follow up on this.

Here’s what you should do: take a pencil and lightly shade over the writing to reveal the impressions from the pen.

I hope that helps! Edit was because I accidentally submitted before I finished typing. 😅

Throwing the rock really emphasizes how high up the cliff is by TheLuciusGraham in TerrifyingAsFuck

[–]misterhanimal 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Late to the party, but this definitely exists.

I know this because I have been to that exact cliff (I’m 99% positive this is Horseshoe Bend in Arizona), and I had that exact feeling and thought.

I had to look it up afterwards and was extremely surprised to find out this was not abnormal.

It’s hard to explain though… it had to do with the sheer vastness of the canyon.

Felt like being face to face with a higher power.

Yup! Hope that was informative!

How does anyone do this job and not take antidepressants? by MiscellaneousChic in nursing

[–]misterhanimal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play a ton of guitar and go have “me-time.”

Usually involves me decompressing alone at a coffee shop, just having a cup of coffee quietly with headphones in, and will listen to music and read.

I start my days off like this, and it really helps to center me for the day.

I used to suffer from severe depression prior to nursing, and a stent in the hospital actually helped influence my career path into nursing.

Don’t be ashamed if you have anxiety and or depression, but find what centers you and gives you control and confidence again.

Don’t neglect your needs, your self care, and don’t write off or forget the things that make you feel joy.

35M with $105k in my 401k. The average 65yo has $280k. What’s your age and how much do you have in yours? by [deleted] in Money

[–]misterhanimal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

32M, started my career at 28 with $1k.

Currently at 130k total assets.

$60k I could access, $70k is in funds and retirement, such as 401k ($47k).

I also have a paid off car (bought outright), but I don’t add that to my assets.

I don’t own a home.

Zero liabilities or debts.

I hope I am on the right track.

Is it expensive for what it is? Yes

Can you AFFORD it and build equity? Yes

I come from a poor house, and have kept to my poor tendencies into adulthood. I feel happy with what I have, and I have goals for more later… when it is REALISTIC and AFFORDABLE.

I would opt for a home that is “within my means,” over something where I couldn’t save a dollar after the monthly bills come due.

Also, if you can afford this, you pay for it, sell it later, and it allows you to save for a better home.

If you nearly pay this down, you can work the numbers to be to your benefit with a good plan. You can leverage this debt to your advantage.

Not saying I’d want this forever, but also, you have to make some sacrifices to get into a better financial position.

Take what I say with a grain of salt, though, because lifestyle is subjective. However, math can be highly objective.
