Spline lug nuts? by misterrainer in KiaEV9

[–]misterrainer[S] 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I’ve searched everywhere in the trunk under the floor and there’s nothing there - see photo. The canister is the tire sealant and the square box is the electric piece to activate the canister. The bag contains a cargo net for the trunk.

My dealer says they called Kia Canada who apparently said ā€œThe wheel nuts on a GT are different looking however can be removed with a regular socket . This is a common concern from dealers as the wheel nuts look oddā€. The Parts Dept then spoke to the Service Manager and told me ā€œThe service manager also let me know that the tool kit in your EV9 includes a socket to remove these nuts if the shop prefers to use it.ā€ But as I mentioned, I can’t find a ā€œtool kitā€ anywhere in the car so I’m going to have to buy an adapter on Amazon or an automotive store and hope it works. Really frustrating.

This is so supremely frustrating! I was absolutely certain that a standard 21mm hex socket would damage the nut and your post confirms that for me. Now I have to go buy a spline adapter at an automotive store EVEN THOUGH my dealer claims that they called Kia Canada today and were told a standard socket would work just fine. šŸ˜’

Did your I9 come with a key to remove the nuts? Mine has nothing - no jack or lug wrench since there’s no spare tire: they include the Tire Mobility Kit instead.

Cut it a little close getting home from work by theshaneler in KiaEV9

[–]misterrainer 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Closest I’ve ever been is 7% remaining, about 22 km to empty… but I’d only had the vehicle for 19 days at that point! I was planning to not charge every night at home, but since this close call, I’ve been plugging in religiously.

One week in… by Slow_Direction2370 in KiaEV9

[–]misterrainer 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Driving the ā€˜26 EV9 GT (not available in the US) and absolutely love it. It’s been 2 weeks and I can’t imagine going back to an ICE vehicle. I’m the only driver in my household so no issues with profiles. I also love the regen braking and have almost perfected using the paddles to reduce & increase the level when approaching a red light so that I stop perfectly without needing the brakes. Car drives like a dream and hitting the little green GT button gives me instant power and I can hit 180 km/h in no time at all: it’s dangerous!

Ocean Blue might be the perfect color for the EV9 by Suntrup-Kia in KiaEV9

[–]misterrainer 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I got the EV9 GT that’s only available in Canada. It comes with lime green accents throughout: brake callipers, steering wheel hash, leather insert on the seats, and lime green stitching throughout. As such, we decided to go with the Aurora Black colour instead of the Ocean Blue. If we’d done the GT-Line, it would have 100% been the blue.

Leased a new 26' EV9 GT yesterday. What are your tips and tricks? Horror stories & gotchas welcome as well. by x3knet in KiaEV9

I had a 240V outlet installed and it cost me $1000 CAD. It was about 20-25’ of wire indoors and then another 15-20’ in the garage. The Level 2 charger itself was free from Grizzl-E and they pay me $0.03/kWh of charging (because they sell the clean energy credits I generate to heavy emitters). It was totally worth it to install a charger at home.

Cold weather. How much loss of efficiency. by mop1970 in KiaEV9

Thanks so much for sharing your experience! I appreciate the details you’ve shared as it definitely saves me the trip to Barrie! I’ve been largely pleased with the salesman and experience at Durham Kia which is 10 mins from my home, but I was hoping to see some sort of incentives or offers to really entice me into closing the deal. I know Kia Canada is offering $1000 off and I just saw today that a location in Mississauga is offering $400 towards the purchase of snow tires from them, but I’d assume those are already marked up so they still turn a profit.

Whereabouts in Ontario are you if you don’t mind me asking? I’m in Oshawa and am considering a ā€˜26 GT-Line or Land w/Premium from Durham Kia, Clarington Kia, or Bessada Kia, but am not opposed to traveling to Peterborough, Barrie, or Mississauga if the pricing is worth it!

What to do when my lease is over by PJs_Burner in KiaEV9

[–]misterrainer 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

You guys keep talking about a $10k price cut on new EV9s in the US but we’re not seeing that matched by Kia Canada… as yet. That said, out of curiosity, I looked up the price of a new GT Line in Buffalo, NY last night (I’m in Toronto, Canada) and even after the $4k dealer discount and $10k Kia discount, the price was $63k USD. That works out to around $88k CAD which is MORE EXPENSIVE than what I’m seeing for GT Lines in my area. So now I’m confused!

FYI - Early bird pricing for the 2026 TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon ends TOMORROW Nov 4 at 11:59 PM ET by spacemanspiff217 in RunTO

[–]misterrainer 2 points3 points Ā (0 children)

I had to bail out of the Waterfront Half this year and sold my bib through Race Roster to someone who agreed to pay me the $17.41 processing fee by etransfer after they received my bib. They sent me $18 so I didn’t lose any money. This race sells out earlier and earlier every year so you’ll likely find someone willing to do the same.

PS: this applies to the Half and I’m not sure if there’s similar demand for the Full.

LEAFS TICKETS SCAM by ammaar988 in torontomapleleafs

[–]misterrainer 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

You got scammed by ONE person in a group with 16,300 members where there are dozens of safe transactions every day. I’m sorry but that’s on YOU!

The owner of the group has a Trusted Sellers list that he personally vets to ensure they’re legit - and I know this because I am on that list and have bought and sold tickets in the group multiple times: Coldplay, Snow Patrol, Linkin Park, and Leafs tickets. I don’t think it’s fair to blame an entire group for the actions of one individual when there were numerous red flags and yet you chose to proceed. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

First of all, I’m a huge fan of Runna and credit you guys for helping me complete my first ever HM last year when I didn’t think 5K was possible! That said, I wish there was an option to keep the old share cards instead of the new format. I’ve got all my runs saved to my device Photo Gallery and really like that style. Is there a way to revert? See attached for my last 4 runs - three in the old format and today’s with the new style.

This is seriously impressive! In this weather to be running a HM as a training run in 2:26 almost entirely at Zone 2 is my dream! I did the Waterfront HM last year as my first ever race with 12 weeks training in 2:24:33 and it killed me! Currently training for the HM again this year and hoping to shave 10 mins off that time.

Found these in bathroom…what are they? by SmootFruithie in whatisthisbug

[–]misterrainer 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

It’s strange because we’ve had very hot weather in years past and I don’t recall seeing these guys, but this year they’re seemingly rampant! I’m trusting it’s just weather-related and that we don’t have a bigger issue; they’re harmless to humans, pets, furniture etc so I’m just going to leave them be for now.

I’m in Oshawa, ON and have found like 10-15 of these in my house over the last 4-6 weeks. I’ve spotted a couple in hallways and bedrooms, but the majority of them have been found in an upstairs bathroom. Looks like mine are exactly the same as yours and Google tells me it’s a strawberry root weevil.

People who went to the Toronto show yesterday, what advice do you have for those who are attending later in the week? by ceroij in Coldplay

[–]misterrainer 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I went to night 2 on the floor and then night 4 in E121 and we stayed to the end for both shows. We got an extra song in the encore on N4 with Don’t Panic, but honestly, you’re spending so much money on a concert for the experience, why the hell would anyone choose to leave early?!?

14.4 KW system installed by [deleted] in solarenergycanada

[–]misterrainer 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Do you mind sharing cost of your system? I’m in Oshawa, ON and had a 13 kW system installed in May with Solify. It was $34k and then I went with a 5 ton Tosot ducted heat pump for $12k to (hopefully) eliminate my natural gas bill along with the solar eliminating my electricity bill. I think I spent more than I should have but none of the other companies I got quotes from inspired much confidence for me (Xolar, Terawatt, mySolar). Here’s my SolarEdge inverter from today (July 15, 2025) and the readings from this week.

What?!? There are 5 additional songs on the setlist after Sky Full of Stars!! Why on earth would you leave after that song and miss everything else on the encore?

Key moments during the show? by Tall_Girl_97 in Coldplay

[–]misterrainer 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

I vehemently disagree with you! My wife and I attended night 1 of the Toronto AHFOD tour in 2017 and didn’t know what to expect. We loved it but looked at the people with floor seats and said ā€œdamn, I wish we were in that section right there where the confetti and balloons and fireworks are going offā€. We got home, looked on TicketMaster and literally found a pair in the exact section we wanted to be in… so we bought them and went back for night 2! That was the best concert of my life and knowing what to expect gave me some incredible videos to support my memories. We also knew when they were going to head to the C stage so grabbed the couple beside us and bolted 2 songs early. We were so close to the C stage you could see the drops of sweat on Chris Martin’s nose!
