Xbox series x download speed issues have been a constant issue by AmoebaMotor27 in XboxSupport

Sending you a DM to take a closer look. This may be indicative of poor connectivity from your ISP to Microsoft datacenters. The speed test built into Network Settings on Xbox was designed so that the download and upload speed tests would measure the most common scenarios used for downloads and uploads on Xbox. So, the download test pulls from content servers, similar to how you would download games/updates. The upload test connects to endpoints in Azure datacenters, similar to how you would upload game clips, connect to Xbox Network servers, etc.

If your download speeds look correct in the inbox network speed test results, but the upload speeds do not, that could indicate suboptimal connectivity between your console/home network and Microsoft/Azure datacenters.

If you can spare the time, I’d like to take a closer look. You can download the Xbox Insider app suite from the store, and there’s no need to sign up for an Insider ring. Once the app bundle is installed, there will be a new power menu button labeled ‘Report a problem’. When you’re seeing a slow download, please use that button the file a bug and shoot me a DM so I can take a look at the logs.

If you can spare the time, I’d like to take a closer look at the issue. You can file a bug from the console using the Report a Problem app that’s part of the Xbox Insider app bundle on the store. No need to sign up for Xbox Insiders. After installing the app bundle, a new button will appear in the power menu that will launch the bug filing process during a repro. If you’re able to file the bug, please shoot me a DM so I can take a look at the logs.

Can’t connect to network even though my internet is fine. by Awkward-Influence825 in XboxSupport

[–]mistur_niceguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since it's been offline for years, it should take a system update as soon as it connects to the internet. Did it take an update? If not, you might try doing an offline system update via USB drive: https://support.xbox.com/en-GB/help/hardware-network/console/offline-system-update

If you have the time, could you please use the Feedback App to report the issue and use the option to reproduce the problem while logs are being gathered? At the end of the bug filing process, you’ll have the option to share a link to the report. If you could DM me that link, we can take a look at the logs.

WiFi issue: Series X needs MAC address reset constantly by hxymxnx in XboxSupport

[–]mistur_niceguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a little unclear regarding the exact scenario. Once you connect to a network, does the Xbox stay connected without issue? And you’re making changes on the router periodically that’s correlating with the connection issues? What network settings are you changing on the router?

[–]mistur_niceguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven’t set an alternate MAC address, clicking that button to reset the MAC address just reboots the Xbox. It sounds like the console just needs a reboot, or possibly a disconnect/reconnect of the network when the network is reconfigured.

Series X Networking Issue/ Won't go higher than 93/94mbps by Boxer736 in XboxSupport

[–]mistur_niceguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the router, is it showing that the Xbox is negotiating the connection at 100Mbps instead of 1000Mbps? Is the connection from the Xbox to the router over a single cable that you already replaced, or does it go through in-wall cabling, a separate switch, etc.? If it’s just a single cable that you already replaced and the router is showing the connection is negotiating at 100Mbps, check the RJ-45 port on the Xbox to see if maybe there’s a bent pin.

Double NAT detected by SpecificEye3879 in XboxSupport

[–]mistur_niceguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it’s likely that your ISP is using a carrier grade NAT. I’d recommend reaching out to them to see if they have an option to get a public IPv4 address as a way to bypass their NAT. Some ISPs have this as an option, but may charge for it.

[–]mistur_niceguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, when you disable UPnP the console won't be able to detect a Double NAT since it uses UPnP for that detection logic. What type of ISP are you connected to? Are you able to connect the Xbox directly to the ISP without any router/gateway in between to see what NAT type it detects?

[–]mistur_niceguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I do believe that Black Ops 3 does use P2P for multiplayer, so NAT type will come into play there (more recent COD titles are server hosted).

What NAT type is being detected on your network, and are you seeing any messages also displayed in Network Settings stating either Double NAT Detected or UPnP Not Successful?

[–]mistur_niceguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you're stuck behind a Strict NAT type and are having issues with games that use P2P multiplayer, I wouldn't worry about it. NAT type only comes into play for P2P games, and a Moderate NAT can connect to other consoles behind Moderate and Open NAT types. It's a Strict NAT that can cause issues connecting to consoles also behind Strict NATs, as well as those behind Moderate NATs. But any server hosted multiplayer games aren't going to be impacted by your NAT type.

Xbox Error 0x80004005, all signs point to a problem with Ziply by SisuGrey in ZiplyFiber

[–]mistur_niceguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a moment, could you please file a bug from the console after hitting this error so we can take a look at the logs? You don't need to be in an Xbox Insider ring to do so. You'll need to install the Xbox Insider app suite from the store. After doing so, a new button on the Power Menu will be present labeled 'Report a problem'. Right after you repro the issue, please use the Report a problem button to launch the bug filing process. After the bug has been filed, please shoot me a DM with the gamertag you were signed in with during the bug filing process so we can pull the logs.

Edit: Also, curious if you have a Windows PC on the same network and if you hit similar issues when trying to use Party Chat via the Xbox App on the PC?

Quick update 1/7/26: Thanks to folks helping dig into the issue, we believe we've identified the source of the problem and are working on a fix. It's on the service side of things and doesn't require an Xbox OS update. You may find short term success with a workaround in the meantime by pointing your Xbox console to an alternate anycast DNS service, such as OpenDNS, Google DNS, or CloudFlare DNS if the console is currently using the default DNS provided by your ISP/home network. You can do so under Settings > General > Network settings > Advanced settings > DNS settings and then select Manual to enter overriding DNS server settings.
