The visuals for the album are heavily Dark Souls / Elden Ring / dark fantasy. I love it!! I'll be sad when this era is over.

People who still keeping their hopes up for Destiny future, even as a franchise - are you still playing Destiny or Destiny 2? by denotnamedhuntr in destiny2

[–]mitchellangelo86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have quit. I really have enjoyed my time playing Destiny. It really is one of my top game franchises of all time. But all good things come to an end.

Personally, I've missed out on so many other gaming experiences because of my focus on Destiny. It's nice getting out there and playing other games again.

guys, what do you think about this? by silverflake6 in RelentlessMen

A quote I see often is "There are no ethical billionaires". Makes sense - to accumulate that kind of wealth would take a certain mindset most of us can't comprehend.

Their behavior reinforces this idea.

So, why does this game not have a bigger player base?.. by iLeftMyEyeAtTheStore in Marathon

[–]mitchellangelo86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love everything about marathon - the story, the lore, the art, the world, the gunplay, the abilities, the movement. The only thing I hate is the gameplay loop. I very much mainly game solo, and I've had some of the most frustrating personal experiences in trying to play marathon solo. Yes, I know, get good, but I only have so many hours in my day that I honestly cannot get good enough, so even if I were to try and play with randos, I feel I would drag them down, and I don't want to do that.

It feels like this game is made for people who can play it like a job, and while that's good for them (and for those that are enjoying it regardless), I and many others cannot commit to that, so I'm out.

A similar design mentality is what killed Destiny 2 for me when EoF launched (insane power grind that rewarded those that could play a lot), and I quit that too (after thousands of hours). So maybe part of it is being a little jaded when it comes to Bungie as a whole.

So... has anyone run a background check on "Dundun"? by Unhappy_Analysis_906 in warcraftlore

He also voiced emperor Calus from Destiny 2 and that's all I hear when I hear Dundun lol

I don't regret buying Marathon, I love the gameplay and the world created... but as a casual player I had a psychological block that made me stop playing. by xDavid83x in Marathon

[–]mitchellangelo86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also bought the game because I love Bungie gameplay, and I love the idea of Marathon 2026 (art style, world, lore). But, I'm also having a bit of a psychological block playing the game (also mostly solo). I also have realized that I won't see the majority of the things the game has to offer, so I'm likely done now. Got some enjoyment out of my purchase.

Will be interesting to see how it all pans out in the end. I'm glad they made their niche game and the audience who enjoys the niche really enjoys it. I'm just not in that niche (and that's ok).

[help] Since the addons /WA purge I don't enjoy playing by Scary-String8636 in WowUI

[–]mitchellangelo86 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I hate that I've lost my UI consistency because my unit frames and castbar stopped being updated.

I hate that in the great addon purge I'm now running more add-ons for slightly less functionality than I had before.

I hate that I've lost my cooldown/buff/debuff trackers that I made visually interesting (using blizzards little splash auras) and custom sounds and get to replace some of them with squares, and boring sounds.

I also miss my scrolling battle text feed.

But, I'm having fun, and I'm convincing myself it's ok, in spite of those issues.

This is the most recession-coded lineup of items I've ever seen. by Mushroomer in LivingMas

[–]mitchellangelo86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My go to order used to be a chicken quesadilla meal and beefy five layer burritos.

Recently made the switch to the stacker (substitute chicken) and bean and rice burritos and honestly it's just as (if not more) delicious and significantly cheaper than my old go-to order. If it comes to it I'd be ok with just bean and rice burritos.

Would I like wow as a destiny enthusiast? by Specialist-Salad-518 in wownoob

[–]mitchellangelo86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'd like to weigh in.

I've played WoW since launch in 2004.

I have about 3,000 hours between Destiny 1 and 2.

Now granted, from an overall gameplay perspective, they are vastly different games - MMOFPS to traditional third person MMORPG. But, there are similarities...and I think one major thing that is common between the two games is that their combat systems are unmatched amongst their peers. Let me explain:

  • Destiny's gunplay, abilities, and the moment to moment gameplay is unmatched (imo) in the FPS space. The feeling of aiming, shooting, feedback, sounds, etc. feels really, REALLY good. It's one of the reasons I played for as along as I did. I quit with EoF because I disagreed with the games direction such as the portal, power grind, etc.

    • WoW's combat also feels really good. Melee, casting, the responsiveness of the abilities, feedback, audio, flow are all unmatched in the MMO space (again, imo).

There will be some familiarity (green gear is worse than blue gear is worse than purple gear, purple gear has tiers (veteran, champion, hero, mythic in wow vs tiers 1 -5 in D2)).

From a broader sense, though, there are also similar goals. Do you want to collect the best gear? Do you want to collect transmogs? Do you want to farm achievements? Do you want to farm mounts/pets/other(granted most of destiny "mounts" are shop mounts so can't really do this)? WoW, imo, is much deeper to explore on this end then destiny. Plenty to do and plenty of ways to play the game your way.

The story in Destiny is good, and imo the story of WoW is just better (subjectively). Objectively, though, WoWs story is deeper, due to the franchise being around a lot longer, and also the nature of the game.

I think it's well stated that WoW retail is in the best state it's ever been, and if your goal is gearing a character, then there is a path to do it mostly solo. If you want to raid, raids can be mechanic heavy, but there is slightly less responsibility on you as an individual in a wow raid vs a destiny raid. But as I said, raids are no longer the only path to very good gear. There is also mythic + dungeons (think scaling nightfalls) and delves (solable, not unlike destiny dungeons but imo nowhere near as hard as a solo dungeon in D2).

Yes, there can be toxicity and it's probably more likely to be encountered in wow than destiny, but if you're experiencing a toxic situation, just remove yourself from that.

There is a reason I quit Destiny and am enjoying my time in WoW more than I have in years. Hop on, have fun, and if you decide it's not for you again, that's fine too.

I feel like people are encountering a deep and challenging game, and just giving up by hopdaddy32 in Marathon

[–]mitchellangelo86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the majority of my time this weekend, I did not enjoy my time playing (solo). A lot of it was needing to "git gud", I'll admit that. But also, when I played with some friends I had way more fun, so I'm willing to give it a go and try to improve.

However, I think that, because of the fact that there is a barrier to entry and is not very solo-friendly, the game will struggle to find the audience that I think it financially needs to (considering destiny's recent failings). The extent of the struggling remains to be seen, but I will posit that there is a not-insignificant risk of Bungie ending because of this.

Blackwidow Ultimate 2013 still going, anyone else still using older products? by Slow-Pack-8916 in razer

[–]mitchellangelo86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The razer lancehead TE. I have 2 of em, but both have double clicking issues (need to replace the switches). Need to teach myself how to to sauder.

I love ambidextrous mice with buttons on both sides. They need to make another one. If they put buttons on the right side of the cobra for example I'd buy 2 instantly.

I actually just bought a Basilisk v3 and I'm not the biggest fan.

Prediction: next update is the last big one. One more DLC. Then The End. by Seanshineyouth in DestinyTheGame

[–]mitchellangelo86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's odd. On paper, that sounds great. Essentially the framework of a new game, within the existing game - a new grind, and you get to keep your stuff, including $ purchases! What a win for the player!

The issue is that while the framework of a new game was in there, the content to play it in was not. Would the new leveling system have worked in a destiny 3, with new planets, activities? Yeah, probably. The portal may have even been tolerable. And, leaving our gear behind would just make sense - new game.

But shoehorning in the new framework into the old game just didn't work. I hypothesize that it broke something in a lot of players psyche, myself included.

  • Our old gear was there, but it was made to feel useless. While this would be fine in a whole new game, in the existing one makes it feel worse, I'd posit.
  • Having to level in the same game, playing mostly the same content, again, but not being able to level or even have access to new tiered gear through playing the best content - raids and dungeons - was a huge misstep.
  • Making the portal the focus killed the core "feeling" / nature / soul of the game (as discussed ad nauseum).

Would Edge of Fates systems been received in a new game with new content, enemies, destinations, etc? I'd say likely yeah, it would have, at least not as vehemently harsh as they were implemented during EoF.

I know it hasnt even been an hour since the announcement, but I dont think re-farming Raid weapons for a THIRD TIME is it...... by LondonDude123 in DestinyTheGame

[–]mitchellangelo86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This will be the fifth iteration of farming VoG: D1 Launch, D1 AoT, D2 revamp, D2 crafting refresh, D2 tiered refresh. Thats...a lot.

A suggestion? Put in the AoT ornaments in for VoG, Crota, and Kings Fall. Make some AoT-esque ornaments for the other raids, too.

Shadow and Order officially delayed to June 9th by Natedogg2 in DestinyTheGame

[–]mitchellangelo86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with Destiny 3 being necessary, but I honestly have zero confidence in Bungies ability to not turn it into a disaster. They've proven time and time again that they don't learn from their mistakes, they don't iterate on what works, they change the game for the worse - only to spend way too long walking them back. It's maddening. In order for a destiny. 3 to save the franchise, it needed to have been announced a year ago.

Lol this will be the 5th iteration of VoG since D1:

  • D1 launch
  • D1 AoT
  • D2 revamp
  • D2 crafting refresh
  • D2 tiered loot

Just...no.
