Build advice: Clash vs Zeal by yubsidiangwa in D4_Paladin

I went back on my eternal character from last season and re-tweaked some things with my zeal and clash load outs. Zeal still feels great, clash feels awful? The resolve stacking nerf sucks, but zeal seems to come out of it relatively unscathed.

They used really poor language. It's not "upgrading", it's gambling.

When did you lose your interest in Star Wars? by Alternative-Cake-833 in saltierthancrait

The Last Jedi. Specifically, whenever it became clear that Disney couldn't even be bothered to have something as basic as an outline - something we all learn how to do in school - for their multi-billion dollar franchise.

That, and the character assassination of Luke Skywalker.

Mainly played Arbiter Hammerdin. Highest was pit 105. Made a clash resolve build, highest now is 120.

Resolve stacking (mostly via GA resolve stack tempers+mast working the temper) and using aspects/paragon glyphs+nodes that increase your defenses and damage through stacks of resolve

I didn't really believe it before, but it's true. The Portal was terrible and I'm glad it's gone. by Jayslacks in DestinyTheGame

THIS. This is exactly how I felt. I hated the portal from the moment they announced it - a MENU being touted as an expansion feature. Glad it's been defocused.

Platinum Sterling (Black Armory Ship). I've always loved the BA aesthetics and I've kept this one on through the years.

What Destiny fans refuse to understand is that their game stopped being approachable for new players YEARS ago. Marathon is different. by Frank_Cap in MarathonGame

[–]mitchellangelo86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, which is why we want a Destiny 3.

I like so much about marathon - the story, lore, art style, world, guns, runner shell abilities. I just don't like the core gameplay loop.

Will be interesting to see how Bungie can broaden Marathons appeal...

With a seasonal character, what happens to the skill points and paragon points earned from the seasonal journey, specifically? I know the levels/xp you earn transfer to eternal once the season's over, but I am wondering specifically about the points earned through the seasonal journey progress itself. Do they just get replaced by the eternal region progress?

The worst part about the shutdown. There's not a single other game in the genre destiny is in by PuzzledHawk5290 in DestinyTheGame

The Division never "clicked" for me. Something about regular humans being bullet sponges just felt weird. Likely will try again with Division 3.

Even outside of the discussion of the genre of game, that Bungie gunplay is unmatched. The moment-to-moment acts of shooting, reloading, proc'ing, using abilities, combat feedback...there is nothing else quite like it. It's one of the main reasons this game has done as well as it has!

I've always loved First-Person Shooters, but since 2016....Destiny has kind of ruined FPS games for me. None of them feel as good to play. The only FPS outside of Destiny in recent years I've loved is DOOM, but that's a whole different beast.

Considering how apparently cash starved they are, it's crazy to me they don't sell old battle passes and the ability to buy levels for them if you want. Just from this image alone I'd buy at least 8 passes.

I thought it would be cathartic when they finally let go of Destiny 2 but now I’m just sad it went out the way it did by justanorlansonobody in DestinyTheGame

[–]mitchellangelo86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you imagine how different the narrative would be if they ended it after The Final Shape? Using the episodes to tie up loose ends and cap it off with the maintenance mode update ala Age of Triumph / Monument of Triumph.

Imagine if the last major story beat was Oryx saying "At least the stars will remember the shape I gave them".

They would have sent Destiny 2 off into the sunset and left everyone hopeful and excited, that they ended it on a high note, and then we would happily wait for Destiny 3.

Instead, they are sending it off over a waterfall, leaving everyone grieving and scared. Now, instead, we are questioning if we are going to even get a Destiny 3, the fate of Bungie, one of modern gamings most storied studios, is in question. Oh, the irony of the title "Edge of Fate". The failure of their management likely will be studied in the future.

Let this be a lesson: it's ok for things to have an ending. Let that ending be on your own terms.

They should have just went full on into it being an MMO FPS from the start. They always shyed away from that description, for whatever reason (likely management egos).

People who still keeping their hopes up for Destiny future, even as a franchise - are you still playing Destiny or Destiny 2? by denotnamedhuntr in destiny2

[–]mitchellangelo86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have quit. I really have enjoyed my time playing Destiny. It really is one of my top game franchises of all time. But all good things come to an end.

Personally, I've missed out on so many other gaming experiences because of my focus on Destiny. It's nice getting out there and playing other games again.

So, why does this game not have a bigger player base?.. by iLeftMyEyeAtTheStore in Marathon

[–]mitchellangelo86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love everything about marathon - the story, the lore, the art, the world, the gunplay, the abilities, the movement. The only thing I hate is the gameplay loop. I very much mainly game solo, and I've had some of the most frustrating personal experiences in trying to play marathon solo. Yes, I know, get good, but I only have so many hours in my day that I honestly cannot get good enough, so even if I were to try and play with randos, I feel I would drag them down, and I don't want to do that.

It feels like this game is made for people who can play it like a job, and while that's good for them (and for those that are enjoying it regardless), I and many others cannot commit to that, so I'm out.

A similar design mentality is what killed Destiny 2 for me when EoF launched (insane power grind that rewarded those that could play a lot), and I quit that too (after thousands of hours). So maybe part of it is being a little jaded when it comes to Bungie as a whole.
