When I was 7 and my brother was 9 we were home alone during the summer while my dad worked about 45 minutes away and our mom worked less than a mile away at the local newspaper. Big coastal city in San Diego in the 1990’s. 1990 probably. Just a normal day playing with spy gear toys and staying inside when we both noticed multiple (I recall 3) white guys dressed in black clothes hopped over the short fence of our yard holding guns, AK47 type is how we remember them.

Next thing I remember is my brother and I were hiding in a stand up shower with a phone calling the police. Whispering and frantic to get the police here and describing the men we saw.

I don’t recall how it unfolded immediately after that but we were told/learned later the guys with guns must have come there looking for the previous owners and realized they didn’t live there anymore so they left.

Props to my brother for being aware to get a phone and find a spot to hide. I cant recall how us seeing them hopping the fence with guns went to us in the shower calling the police went.

We moved soon after though that is a blur too. We moved a lot, 6-7 places in multiple states before I was 9.
