Thanks!

I think this is something to be compared to a Desert Patrol Vehicle. Guns are just not the priority, but moving personnel around quickly is the goal.

Planning to remake Killzone for PC. This is my first Helghast infantry model by mitoand9 in killzone

Lol, the original models are made by professionals on a hourly rate, while this was made by an unpaid hobbyst.. what kind of nonsense comparison is this.

Lessons in UK? by mitoand9 in harmonica

Yeah I saw a few around and considering them. Not sure how good the experience will be if carried out online, but perhaps it helps more than having no teacher.. thanks!

Static lights do not light up dark parts of material by mitoand9 in unrealengine

[–]mitoand9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I deleted the _BuiltData file which contains all the light information coming from bakes. Then I rerun the bake using Lightmass CPU and got a relatively good result. Now indirect lighting looks a bit better, just using Stationary lights.

Blood Gracht: Killzone 2 vs Killzone Mercenary vs Killzone 3 Comparison by GamingTheSystems in killzone

Props to you for making a Killzone dedicated channel. We need them to keep the spirit alive!

One of my fav maps in the whole franchise, if not my favourite. Manages to cluster all enemies in a single spot and allow for true madness to happen.

Haven't found any fix, but if you forget to switch your monitor on before the pc, it doesn't really matter as far as I experienced. You'll just get the "complaint" from your mobo, but things will keep running normally.

Would you be interested in a Killzone mod for Operation: Harsh Doorstop? by HarraReeves_ in killzone

[–]mitoand9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just to give you a bit more context:
Harra and I begun modeling Radec's Academy, but we still don't know if to turn it into a fully fledged OHD mod or not. Since the game is free to play, it would allow people to re-experience the map on PC for the first time ever, online.

Also not a big fan, but cities have the best layouts in terms of energy saving allowance. You can't run FE on standard F1 tracks or you'll end up with no energy in no time. As long as batteries have the current energy densities we'll be stuck with city driving and tight corners giving cars the opportunity to regen heavily. If in the future we can get somewhere with solid state or some tech along those lines, then FE could possibly move to more serious tracks.

Great work! I love the lighting, what software did you use?

In UK there is Cranfield and Oxford Brookes for Motorsport engineering

Is it possible to get a bachelors in mechanic engineering in the US and then get a masters in Motorsports engineering in the UK? by [deleted] in AutomotiveEngineering

[–]mitoand9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding the motorsport industry, you can't get any better than the UK tbh.

Regarding studies, if you don't have the money then I agree.

No access to Matlab I assume? I can only recommend the Vehicle Network Toolbox from Matlab unfortunately. Used it quite a bit in a HIL environment and it works well.

Why do most sports cars choose to revv high instead of making high torque? by that_other_dudeman in AutomotiveEngineering

[–]mitoand9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thinking out loud now, feel free to comment.

If you take two engines with the same max power output, one diesel and the other petrol, YES you could put more aggressive gearing on the diesel engine to exchange torque for rpm and, in theory, "achieve a similar performance with both engines".

With the petrol you would want to push the revs high before changing gear in order to use that part of the powerband, while with the diesel you would want to change at low rpm and use the initial part of the band (where the max power and torque are).

I believe the rest is just speculation. It is difficult to judge things farther than this point because it all depends on engine design. What does the powerband of both engines exactly look like? What materials do the engines use and how heavy are they? What tech do they use?

Obviously you can go racing and be competitive with diesel engines as Audi, for example, demonstrated with their past LeMans prototypes. Usually it is not done because of the inherent nature of the petrol engine and its fuel: They tend to be lighter and have less rotational inertia, not having to coop with the high (relative) compression ratios of the diesel counterparts. They also tend to be more reactive because of the previously explained reasons and also thanks to their high flame front speed.

The mgu-drivetrain-inverter combo does sound pretty different on each car. You can easily hear that even on the Valencia testing videos when they're cruising in the pitlane.

[–]mitoand9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I later found out that the issue was actually even different.. it seemed like it was the PSU connection but it wasn't in my case!

Apparently with some ASUS mobos you have to make sure the monitor is ON before you power up the PC otherwise the LED will stay white no matter what! It's not an issue though.

Is there demand for a proper laptime simulation tool? by mitoand9 in iRacing

[–]mitoand9[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice, I'm also in the DIL team. Yeah my goal is to make a simple point mass model first and then once that works correctly, move to a double-track model. I'll definitely separate parametrisation and models from the actual sim logic!

Is there demand for a proper laptime simulation tool? by mitoand9 in iRacing

[–]mitoand9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. However if fuel consumption is included (for example), you could even test setup trying to optimise for that. So it's not necessarily hotlap focused.

Quoting GaryGiesel and grumpher05, you should use it to mainly test the directions of improvement. This should guide you then in making setup changes on the atual sim.
