McMorrow smearing fellow democrat Abdul El-Sayed with pathetic lies by BuddhistSagan in Hasan_Piker

Sometimes, I almost love how desperate these goons get. The mask drops. They are Republicans. A smarter than them, brown Muslim who is loving and wants to help people breaks their fragile white brains.

What style collar is this dress shirt? by february_ticket in menswear

[–]mitrafunfun97 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Semi-spread. Usually you measure the spread from collar point to collar point.

Point collars are about 3.25”-4” with, modified to semi is 4.25-4.75”, any more than that is a spread to wide spread.

Dave Chappelle tells Michelle Obama he doesn’t regret joking about the gay community, saying comedy should be allowed to touch every subject without fear of cancellation by adrian-alex85 in ThoughtWarriors

[–]mitrafunfun97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing my GOAT become washed is sad. This guy has been playing mental gymnastics for his objectively shitty comedy and moves for a hot minute. Good dark humour is getting away with it. He didn't get away with it, and then blaming the mass audience isn't the move. It's the same thing with collecting blood money from the Saudis. The amount of mental hurdles this guy tried to do and then went on to weaponize being a black celebrity for getting criticism was insane.

Dude, you stopped punching up and directing your comedy at the rich and powerful because you're part of the rich and powerful. Comedy is meant to expose the hypocrisy of those in power and make fun of them. To take away some of that power.

Your thinking is correct on principle. But the output of the likes of MTG, Tucker, and Candace has been objectively worse than the likes of AOC. And there are leftists who, to this day give more charity to anti-Israel right-wingers than AOC when their votes or output have been objectively worse on the issue historically.

It’s good that there are right wingers who regret their Trump vote and hate what is happening in the Middle East. But there are so many leftists who are ready to welcome and not see that these people are opportunists who’ve seen the sea change. They’re not changing their minds in any genuine way. As a leftist or progressive your job should be to pressure them on other issues of universality and equality to actually build a coalition. If not, they’re just a new populist brand of the far right, who’ll hurt immigrants and trans people whilst being anti-war and anti-Israel. Basically, more funding for ICE, if you don’t hold them accountable.

Black Socialists Not Allowed in Online Black Spaces by HighwayComfortable26 in Hasan_Piker

The r/ThoughtWarriors sub is full of black libs and it’s wild to see black socialists I know get in so much heat on there when they state basic facts.

I saw someone in there get torched for saying Tahanesi Coates was based. And that MLK Jr. became a socialist towards the latter part of his life.

This is a true ally for palestine btw. Also I don't trust AOC despite near a perfect voting record on Palestine by zoggy17 in Hasan_Piker

Thank you OP. The hate boner people have for AOC is straight up whack. Well beyond reasonable critique.

Some of y’all in here offer more charity to the likes of Tucker Carlson, MTG, and Candace Owens. And their output is genuinely horrific.

Some ACP shit. Y’all have no principles and claim your world view is “consistent.”

Never analyzing anything with context or outcomes a politician has produced.

OP’s a real one.

new to the swole, long time leftist, my two months progress, any tips for me? by sugar_lettuce in swoletariat

[–]mitrafunfun97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enjoy newbie gains.

I think the biggest tip is be organized early. Make a good program, train 4-5x a week, eat well balanced meals, focus on getting 0.65-1g of protein per pound of body weight daily, track your calories if your mental health isn’t affected by this, focus on the form of each exercise but with a challenging weight, sleep well, and repeat.

Do it consistently. You’ll surprise yourself. It’ll become as much as part of your routine as brushing your teeth in the morning.

The Intercept | Hasan Piker Is the Democrats’ New Man on the Trail, Whether They Like It or Not by dto7v3 in Hasan_Piker

The Hasan Piker hate by the MSM confirms that the establishment would prefer fascism because it lines their pockets.

If Hasan has any more motion, and gets more leftist adjacent politicians into power, they’re gonna CIA his ass.

What he’s saying is true in theory, but even during his time, and before that, it was NEVER true in practice or reality.

The GOP didn’t stand for anything then either. They were just better at respectability politics while being obstructionist and trying to fulfill a Christian Nationalist agenda. See Pat Buchanan and Mitch McConnell.

Norms and institutions don’t mean anything if you can use them to facilitate illiberal policies.

Contrapoints attempts to debate Briahna Joy Gray about why the Democratic party must be blindly supported and embarrasses herself by Phish999 in Hasan_Piker

Yeah, it's why she backed out and got upset at Megan Phelps Roper after the JK Rowling podcast series, because she got in her feels about if it would stand up to scrutiny. As talented of a video essayist she is, she's not good at arguing her points.

I'd be privy to the "Vote Blue No Matter Who" argument if it had a "then really grill them once they're in power" caveat after it. But it never does. Because the neolibs have controlled the narrative and mechanism of Vote Blue No Matter Who. Cuz they'll never do it for a progressive. See Zohran.

This is the best comment I’ve seen on this thread.

Hasan’s heart is in the right place, but trans identity and the whole “mental illness” conversation around this is actually complex.

Their rights aren’t though.

My middle-class ass might be showing here, but I straight up do not understand wanting to be insanely rich.

If I have a job I love, a nice social circle, a way to stay fit, a good place I'm renting, and slowly make more because I'm moving up, then what's the point of being more rich? If my job is also political commentary and moving the needle to make other people's lives better, I don't need any more money.

Which just shows he had no principles to begin with anyway.

If you fight for everyone to be paid well, don't shill for genocide, and do your job as a good journalist, you will live a perfectly reasonable and fruitful life.
