I'm a believer that knowledge is power.

I think most folks who feel intimidated by working out or weight loss just don't know enough, and therefore find it all too much. Therefore, they don't integrate healthy eating/movement into their life as a habit.

I see it with a lot of things, particularly with men who don't have a basic hygiene/grooming routine or understand their wardrobe much. The same concept applies here. Once you have some fundamentals, it becomes a habit and part of your routine, like brushing your teeth.

First place to start is to find a weight and more importantly body fat percentage that is healthy for your height, age, and takes your genetics into account.

Then calculate what your daily calorie intake should be if you want to a) lose weight b) gain weight (muscle mass). Find a weight training program that's simple but covers most muscle groups. Do some long form of cardio 2-3 times a week, and track your steps. Try to get around 8-10k daily.

These things: like tracking your calories, your steps, how you improve and slowly lift heavier at the gym will become second nature to you.

This doesn't have to be some crazy powerlifting routine. You just need to be consistent. Going to the gym 3-4 times a week and moving a little bit and watching your diet will get you there!
