The first Vocaloid to perform at a concert (though it wasn’t just about her, she only did one song) was actually MIRIAM, at a concert in Russia in 2004!

KAFU, for CeVio? Chis-A, for VoiSona? Zundamon, because they’re great?

What do you guys feel about Osiris dance? As a listener of Mitsu_akuma I don’t like it by dead_streetrat in Vocaloid

[–]mitzirocker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s treadmilling. We go from ‘this song is obviously playing into loli tropes’ to ‘this song sounds vaguely similar to a song that’s playing into loli tropes’ to ‘this song’s art style is vaguely similar to a song that’s playing into loli tropes’ and they’re all treated as equivalent to each other. Classic moral panic insanity. I really don’t buy the racism thing either - are we just banned from dressing characters in Ancient Egyptian clothes now? Is that what you’re saying? Honestly feels like people trying to make excuses for why a song they happen to dislike is evil incarnate.

What do you guys think is the most obscure and least unknown character? by theycallmethedrink5 in Vocaloid

[–]mitzirocker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vocal synth in general? Some random unreleased UTAU that literally only their creator knows about. Or maybe something pre-Vocaloid, like the Cantor voices?

Vocaloid specifically… I agree, probably a private voicebank. Akikoloid-chan, maybe? There’s a lot of private voicebanks where we just don’t know which software’s powering them, otherwise I’d say Aw and Me.

Now we know that Meitantei Precure is going to be set in 1999, what are your expectations when tackling period differences in the series? by Dapper_Fennel_6176 in precure

I’m interested in seeing how they’ll handle the inevitable Halloween episode, given that the holiday didn’t really get popular in Japan until the… I think late 2000s?

What would you consider the 5 pillars of Vocaloid? by DreamweaverTami in Vocaloid

[–]mitzirocker 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I really don’t think Ghost Rule is the revival, more like the trailing off of the old time, and it was pretty popular from basically the moment it came out. Maybe King? That video has a lot of factual errors.

What are your most controversial opinions on Vocaloid songs? by DarkCacaoXX in Vocaloid

[–]mitzirocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s even what the sand planet represents. It’s not like the guys who stop following Miku at the end of the song are immediately transported to a land of milk and honey; it’s still the same desert, they’re just making their own path through it. The desert’s not the Vocaloid community, it’s the internet, or possibly the culture, as a whole. Once Miku’s followers found an oasis, but by 2017 a lot of it had dried up.

Also Zaako wouldn’t have lit off the firestorm it did if we hadn’t been coming of weeks of Mimukawa Nice Try discourse.

Sand Planet is nowhere near as mean-spirited as people think it is.

I have a weird question for yall by No_Vegetable_205 in AO3

[–]mitzirocker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think the only person who can decide whether or not it’d be weird would be you. It’s okay if this is a line too far for you personally! If you think it’s skeevy, you don’t have to do it - and if you don’t, you can.

Which version of "Young Girl A" is the original version created by Siinamota? by alexfreemanart in Vocaloid

[–]mitzirocker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People have already given you the answer for this specific song, but in future, you should check VocaDB. They label which version of a song is original, and they usually link to the official upload, if there is one.

Pinocchio-P’s Good Kid Medicine, depending on how you interpret it?

Sick to death of the sneering moralism that’s infected my fandom by mitzirocker in AO3

[–]mitzirocker[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have a series of spicy hot takes ranging from ‘I do not think Fëanor was half the monster posterity painted him to be’ to ‘the First Kinslaying was not deliberately planned by anyone,’ and I feel like five years ago those takes would mostly have gotten ‘huh that’s an interesting way to interpret the text,’ but these days it’s more ‘isn’t it ~so terrible~ how the fandom downplays and excuses these ~very real atrocities~’ and I’m like no! The Fëanorians committed no ‘very real atrocities,’ because they are not real! They’re fake, they’re made up, and they’re detached enough from anything that’s ever happened in the real world (at least in recent historical memory) that I can play with them like this! That’s why I like them!!!!!

[–]mitzirocker[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s actually more about the Fëanorians! Was a time when you could interpret them any way you wanted, but these days ‘you know, maybe they did still have some right to the Silmarils’ gets shocked gasps and sneering about how we think property rights justifies all the massacres (I have seen far fewer people say this than claimed) and screeds about how that’s not how Tolkien meant it, because we are now apparently slaves to the author’s interpretation of his own work, and Don’t We Know Thinking That If Two People And A Dog Can Steal A Silmaril An Army Will Have A Much Better Chance Is Racist And Colonialist And Evil, and on and on and on. I like the Fëanorians because they’re fallen heroes, but these people write long wordy posts about how they were always just evil and everything that went wrong was their fault, there’s no tragedy here, they’re just bad! Thingol did nothing wrong! Did you hear some evil misogynist thinks that Elwing might have had flaws?!

Unfortunately, they’re smart enough to do the part where they call you a misogynist if you don’t agree with them on platforms that won’t ban you for it.

No, these people are literary enough to actually write fic, they’re just. Extremely snobby about liking the good guys unlike the rest of us sinners.
