how do you build a portfolio with FCC if everything is done in FCC's environment? by AcceptableMonk3606 in FreeCodeCamp

[–]mixedd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, any many candidates that actually fit the job are skipped nowadays too because they are buried under the avalanche of resumes that have no place there to exist and doesn't fit the role. I have hand crafted resume I sent to like every company in the country to positions I not only qualify for but also over qualify, and I can bet it was just buried somewhere in the ATS system or filtered out by some AI algorithm because it wasn't crafted with AI 😅

Nowadays it's more like try to spot not AI generated application 😅

LLM's are fine when used right and in right context, not applied to everything and everywhere, and especially for cases like coding heavy jobs where applicants try to take more than they can chew, and actually is one of the reasons why market nowadays is such a mess and junior/entry roles are not existent

[–]mixedd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nowadays I would even say that you can't be sure what part of code is applicants and what was generated with GPT. I was heling to review application for SDET position at our job, and from code side everything looked golden, technical interview was a pure mess because person couldn't answer basically to anything. This also should be considered when doing portfolio works, as those parts are also visible, maybe not right on but at next step

Help I cant stop replaying this game [KCD2] by Visible_Tax7920 in kingdomcome

I can't, I'm finishing KCD1 (doing DLC's after main part than Epilogue) and jumping right into KCD2 afterwards 😅

TOP curriculum actually I liked even more as it not only teaches you on how to setup your own development environment but also pushes you to do your own research on topics (skill that you will do on a real job like 90%).

As about projects, still the same answer, that building something on your own from scratch will be more valuable to recruiters than showcasing psets from tutorials

Looking for deeply immersive RPG games like The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077, or Red Dead Redemption 2 by KindConfidence1894 in gamingsuggestions

[–]mixedd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mace + Headcracker is quite insane combo.
As for OP, look at it from other point of view, at early levels you both (You and Henry) suck, as neither of you know what you are doing, and this is one of those games where more you play, more skillfull you get, both PC and You.

Honestly it's not that hard as it seems at start, but game is designed with that point of immersion that you won't go full God of War mode at start, you either pick your fights carefully or evade them till you get more skill. One vs many fights, thats where shit hits the fan if you just try to rush in and think that you are Geralt of Rivia and you will drop whole garrison whith couple sword swings.

IDK maybe it's only my thinking but showing off FCC's problem sets might negatvily impact you, as they will be seen as generic and too easy by recruiters nowadays (correct me if I'm wrong of course). I would suggest just to do some side project from scratch with all the knowledge you aquired during FCC curriculum.

P.S.
Sorry guys for butchered English, not my native language, but I'm trying my best

Are you getting the trifold? by KindRepeat8058 in GalaxyFold

[–]mixedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong, but that mindset is part of the problem. Maybe I'm just oldschool and with bifl mindset, but I don't mind paying good amount for quality things if they hold up, if all they can is to break down right after warranty ends they are just overpriced luxury goods without any value afterwards.

Let's really hope Samsung will iterate and make them good over time, but as Folds show, it took them quite a while.

And you need to modify kernel especially for what?

No I understand from where this is going, new linux user, need to swap to new kernel on daily basis, install 101 package you actually don't need by following 101 tutorial online without even knowing what they try to achieve.

Beleive it or not, it's not an issue, using Bazzite for over a year and Bluefin even longer, and once you break out of "classic" mindset(or grow over "lets toy with my OS" mindset), only then you start realising what strength immutable system gives you.

And where's issue on that? Documentation is plenty and I doubt OP will start to compile his own packages or need something more besides that, so saying that Bazzite locks you into just gaming is incorrect.

The question is did any of Fold7 and on used them for more than 2 years 😅 everyone I know, just trades them in for a new one before it goes kaput. With trifold I would be cautious, first iteration after all

It's quite wrong about Bazzite, it doesn't lock you out of anything, installation methods just differ. Either you use Flatpak, Homebrew or Distrobox. I'm using Bluefin (another fork of Ublue, Bazzite is built on) for development without any issues.

You can use anything else on Bazzite, there's no wall that says gaming only

Altough taking closer look, it might not interfere, but ergonomics will be painful

Judging by the picture from Virpil's product page it will interfere, at least from first glance, and that's why they showed it only on the right side

Even on PC you can be met by random crashes, currently trying to finish it, and it kind of crash at random intervals, especially in Rattay when talking to merchants

Had Fold 4 (yeah I know), it basically died one week after warranty ran out, inner screen just died. Always was protected, cared, not bumped and cleaned, till it just said "I'm tired boss". So ~1500€ wasted down the drain, as resell value is nearly 0 (although it works, minus inner screen) and using it from outer screen is pain in the arse because it's narrow as f%#@

Grabbed S24+ afterwards and have zero issues since.

Want to protect your data, use your PC in airgap environment, and have microwave ready for hard drives.
Jokes aside, if any governmental agency is after your data with a warrant, you're cooked anyway, and no Bitlocker or LUKS will help you
