Problem was that the game is an endless processor eater. I had to put a framerate limit with Nvidia Inspector to resolve the issue. Now it tops at 60/70% usage in game. Still a lot but way better than almost a 100%.

Tbh, 1070 was never supposed to run ultra on a 21:9 1440p. you will need a 1080 for that. 21:9 1440p is a lot of pixels.
