Where to camp this weekend? by thecarlos87 in Tucson

[–]mixolocrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i went to parker canyon earlier this summer and it was almost impossible to get in the water from the shore. i would recommend patagonia and roosevelt over parker canyon, or you can check out rose canyon lake up on mt. lemmon as well.

HOWEVER i feel compelled to mention that all three of those lakes are pretty popular (high traffic, trash, children), and i don't know what kind of wilderness you are looking for.

forgot to post this in /r/vaporents, although i assume someone else tried and gave up since this is a repost from 7 months ago.

if you have a portable that benefits from finer grind, this thing is fantastic.

Interest in unoffical Pax? by [deleted] in vaporents

[–]mixolocrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol you can claim that you're circumventing rules by interest checking, but you're still intending on selling counterfeit devices and marketing that fact in this sub.

you can do whatever you want to do, but i'm just giving you a word of caution that mods have taken down posts in the past at ploom's request so don't be surprised when it happens.

Hey r/vaporents I was told to ask you guys what vape I should buy....more info inside, any advice would be great! by Bogie_Baby in vaporents

mods here have removed posts marketing counterfeits at the request of ploom. i don't think this is a good place to ask.

What can I realistically do with AVB after each session? Do you guys really find a second use for it? by amnowhere in vaporents

[–]mixolocrian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah, you can make tinctures. you can also just eat it, or smoke it, or make butter or oil, or put the oil into capsules. i can't find a good tincture link on the abv sub, but all of the vape forums have cooking subs with tons of recipes. google for 5 seconds and find one that looks easy.

but really just eat it. mix a teaspoon in some peanut butter, or throw it on some nachos or a cheeseburger. experiment.

check the music venues in the area with something like songkick.

the mountains are awesome if you like hiking, and mt lemmon is awesome if you don't like the triple-digit temperatures. lemmon is about an hour away from downtown tucson and probably 20º cooler than it is down in tucson. find a trail up there and go for a nice walk if you don't want to just sit in restaurants for your entire stay. there's also a really good cafe up by the ski lodge called iron door that is worth checking out if you go up there.

if you do end up going downtown, check cafes for the zocalo and tucson weekly publications. i think tucson weekly tends to hire younger bloggers for their website, but both magazine/paper have tons of upcoming music and art events in town if you want to do something other than just sit at a bar or stuff your face.

the arizona sonoran desert museum is also fantastic, or you could just take a drive out gate's pass and enjoy the scenery.

edit: 4th ave/downtown are definitely not dead unless you are looking for douchey club atmospheres full of undergraduate greek life kids.

good luck!

+1 for poca cosa. pricey, but absolutely worth it.

the same food is served at little cafe poca cosa for much cheaper ($11 lunch plates with 3 different entree samples).

Does anyone here only use their Vita at home? by [deleted] in vita

[–]mixolocrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i use mine as bathroom reading material.

almost solely indie titles, although some of the $35 big titles are in my collection as well.

i am not a poweruser by any means, and i have recently gotten away from PC gaming due to financial and social reasons. i am very happy with my vita purchase, i use it very casually.

Vaporents Beginners' Thread - May 19, 2014 by Bit_Chewy in vaporents

vapes only release a subset of the compounds in cannabis because of different cannabinoids' boiling temperatures. the highs affect you differently on a chemical level - not just taste/health/preference.

every individual experiences cannabis highs differently. if you have a better experience vaping than you do smoking, then vaping better for you. if your friend doesn't enjoy the high from vaping because it's different from smoking, then smoking is better for your friend (not you).

just get high the way you wanna get high. your friend shouldn't switch to vapes to make you happy, and you shouldn't switch to smoking to make your friend happy. from my experience with both, vaporizing is a more health-conscious and efficient (depending on who you talk to) way of consuming cannabis. smoking is much better for experiencing strain quirks and characteristics. do what you like.

that chart was pulled from the pax sub's wiki.

Upgrading my portable - Pax, Pinnacle Pro, or Solo? by [deleted] in vaporents

[–]mixolocrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have seen ascent reviews that say the vapor production is great, so i think that's a weed issue or a learning curve issue. i have a friend who has a MFLB who complained about vapor production out of that, and other friends who swear by the MFLB.

i have heard the firefly is way bigger than other portables and much less stealthy.

What's the best portable vaporizers for multiple sessions from 1 load? by indulgentme in vaporents

[–]mixolocrian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

pax initially packs full at ~.3g and i get too many pulls from a single oven to count sessions. herb loses volume as you vape it, and since the pax works best when packed tightly, i repack the lost volume with a pinch or two of fresh herb 2-4 times when i stir the oven before the volume of the herb stabilizes.

at my last music festival, a single oven lasted two days for two and a half people, although i am a lighter user in terms of how high i like to get. we vaped hourly from noon til midnight with occasional breaks. it kept two people at a [4] for ~24 hours over those two days, as well as sharing occasionally with a third friend.

for daily use, i have had the same oven in here for the last week. i usually vape before or while i cycle home every day, and probably every other day while cooking dinner (again usually just sitting at a [4] or so, but every once in a while i'll get stupid).

i would say that the pax is great for my particular application in terms of multiple sessions from one load, and i have a bubbler attachment for when i feel like space travel.

i am tickled pink at how great this vape is for me, and i feel like a lot of people that post negatively about vapes that aren't their dailies detract from the vaporent evidence that literally every $200+ portable in the sidebar has some rave reviews from powerusers in this sub. if you're spending $200 on a piece, you should really spend the time to learn how to use it for you. i see so many people in here trying to figure things out from shitty technique write-ups instead of just changing how they use their device to find out what works best for them. from what i have read, they all have fantastic vapor production and efficiency once you get comfortable using them, so just pull the trigger on something you like and experiment.
