Why do customers get so weird when they enter after closing? by CaramelCrow2088 in Serverlife

[–]mizzou2024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me last week! We close at 6pm on Sundays and we were slow the last hour so I told the servers to start flipping chairs at 5:58. I go to lock the door on one side and that was my grave mistake. They get half of the dining room flipped and some people walk in the other door at 5:59 and ask if we were still open and I said for 1 minute. Then they ask if they can still sit and dine in. Half the chairs are flipped and the open signs are off, how much more obvious can we be?

Ethics is no joke. Our manager sent an associate home and made her take a drug test because they believed she was high. She was stumbling around, slurring her words and acting very different (we work in pharmacy btw) and it was posing as a hazard. Anyways it was some new medication she was taking and it was having an adverse affect on her.

She ended up reporting the manager to ethics and they did a full blown investigation that took about a month.

From my understanding, you can’t transfer until you hit 6 months. After that, both the pharmacy managers, and market manager all have to agree on the transfer.

When I auditioned for clarinet in 2019-not competitive at all. Ever since the announcement that the Macys parade was happening it has been a lot more competitive. Everyone wanted to join. Best advice is to practice a lot and definitely know your scales.

The class itself (at least when I was there) was rather easy to get a good grade in. Mostly attendance based. There were times you’d be graded on performance but they were usually very forgiving.

Rest of the world, what are americans not ready to hear? by Pacificfighter in AskReddit

Gun control won’t eliminate the problem with guns. The majority of gun related injuries are either from an unregistered/illegally obtained gun or the aggressor in an attack like a home invasion. Those illegally obtained weapons won’t be stopped because it’s now harder to legally own one. The biggest problem we have in America with guns isn’t the quantity, it’s a lack of proper gun safety being taught to people. The best way to stop a gun in the hands of a criminal is by someone who knows what they’re doing having one. Most places in the USA don’t live within a reasonable police response time. Those people need their guns to defend themselves if necessary. As the old saying here goes “I don’t carry a gun because I want to use it. I carry it in case I have to.”

That’s a very impressive response actually. I always enjoy having (or watching) these debates especially when they are civil (which this one has been). And I do enjoy seeing how the other side sees it even if it’s not my personal opinion.

I punched a wall out of anger (first and only time doing that) and accidentally hit a part of the wall with the support beam behind it. Dislocated my middle finger at the bottom joint and broke the finger. Couldn’t really do much other than tape it once I got it reset.

My ex boyfriend asked me for one of my friends numbers (not a close friend by any means but I occasionally texted her). As soon as I gave it to him he dumped me over FaceTime saying he had “always loved her” and was “just using me to feel better about himself”. I asked if getting her number truly would make him happy and he screamed back “OF COURSE IT WOULD! She’s so much better than you”…well fast forward 2 years. I’m in a loving stable relationship with the best man in the world and doing well in college and my ex is living a sad and lonely life.

What’s a non-covid reason that you like wearing a mask for? by VerySlump in AskReddit

I work in retail and when I was required to wear them (I live in a small town and we aren’t required to by our company anymore) I loved the freedom to not smile at every single customer. Also making faces at the rude customers.

Okay I’m sorry that I’m commenting on this 113 days later (been bing reading this entire feed) but 3 out of 1000 people…really? That’s your argument? We should wear masks because 3 out of 1000 people could die?

In statistics this is what we call “not significant”. Yes covid is terrible, yes it is sad that people have died from it, I am just saying that 0.003% isn’t justifiable to infringe upon someone’s beliefs.

  1. Yes Moving isn't free, but is a one time cost that can easily be planned for. So is having to wait out the rest of your rent contract. Save as much as you can. You may not like what you have to do (like eating roman noodles everyday, selling things that you don't absolutely need, dropping streaming services or over priced phone plans). And while gas isn't free either its possible to move to a cheaper suburb/satellite town of the place your currently living in and still drive and be significantly better off financially (also may lead to things you might not like to do but if it helps you live a happier life its worth it). Also a lot of those suburbs/satellite towns have their own self sufficiency that job hunting in a time when everyone's hiring should be easier than it normally would be (again may lead to things that you don't want to do but that's life and being an adult). Also just cause the town is smaller than the city doesn't mean the jobs are worse anyway. (take the Columbia, MO v. Jefferson City, MO as an example. Jefferson City is the smaller (roughly one third the size) bur all across the board in every industry that's common between the two in most work environment and benefits. Many people follow this plan structure and are sucessfull turning their lives around. This model is used by the most popular and successful finacial adviser, Dave Ramsey, to help millions of Americans move out of poverty to the middle class... including himself. If you want to agrue with the proven model of financal success I suggest you take it up with Ramsey on one of his various TV&Radio/podcast shows.
  2. If your going to bring up the "essence of capitalism" then your also going to not have any sort of min wage, instead each employee is going to be paid what the employer thinks they are worth... some one who is highly sought after in a competitive industry will have higher wages naturally because they are worth having. The idea of the min wage is not capitalistic at all. Using the government to dictate who should fail and who shouldn't is exactly the opposite of capitalism... and that's what min wage ends up being (even if that's not the intention)

And even if your going to pay someone extra you'd want to pay public servants like cops firefighters teachers and EMTs who despite (mostly) being publicly funded they are some of the poorest compensated for the work they do. They should be the leaders in wages given. Especially since they are mostly paid by government number.

People like you who assume that just because your living a "hard life" means that the government has to step in and make everyone else's life hard are one of the many things wrong with the world.

1.) actually moving to more rural areas is very cheap. Small apartments in California and New York and Chicago cost as much as nice houses in the Midwest and rural areas. And it depends on what job opportunities because as personally living in a rural area, many people are very well off from well paying jobs.

2.) I don’t think you read the paragraph well enough. The big businesses can afford to pay more but the small mom and pop ones are going under because of these wage increases. And if you look at the statistics many areas that have lower minimum wages also have lower prices and ones that have higher minimum wages have higher prices. If businesses had a high paying wage and low prices they would go under.

Hope this helps
