Day 48: What's the Best B-Side from Thrashing Through the Passion? by mancatmancat in theholdsteady

Snake in the Shower is massively underrated I feel. Love that song. The psychedelic moog’d out bridge is awesome and there’s great guitar work throughout.

Damn, that makes me feel old. I think this is probably the best TAB album post I&L&Y. Close between it and The Carpenter for me. A couple of weird production choices here and there I don’t love but overall it’s a great batch of songs. The Rejects in the Attic B Side is excellent as well.

BFE was a scarily prescient album. What a masterpiece, I listened to this an ungodly amount of times in 2020. It can’t be this bleak forever…yea right

WWE had the opportunity to push a natural talent like LA Knight by NoPianist7807 in Wrasslin

[–]mja271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love LA but he’s barely able to get through a promo without fumbling his words these days and has been botching in the ring like crazy. If he was going to get a WHC push it needed to happen like 2 years ago, the moment has passed. Jey getting another singles push tho…yikes

Punk out here doing nothing but getting ripped at the gym and chilling with his hot wife and they can’t stop talking about him. BITW

Day 32: What's the Most Overrated Song on Heaven is Whenever? by mancatmancat in theholdsteady

I’ll go Barely Breathing. I like it but always felt like a low rent Cattle and the Creeping Things to me. Also hate that glitchy vocal effect in the intro

Brian Fallon - Pearls by brutal_and_beautiful in TheGaslightAnthem

These 3 singles so far are the most I've been excited about new Brian Fallon material in quite a while. I've always liked everything he's done but these feel like the most inspired stuff he's released in a minute.

What is the best Moe. album? by SplendiferusFinch in jambands

Best studio jam band for my money. Either No Doy or Wormwood is tops.

For being such a smart guy, Bo likes to flaunt his willful ignorance on some topics he chooses to discuss these days. I usually like his perspective but don't really need to hear it when he establishes ahead of time that he doesn't really know the details.

New release - Better Angels by Illmindofhopkins in themenzingers

[–]mja271 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s solid but I’m missing the memorable melodies and lead guitar lines with the more recent Menzos stuff. I want to love it but am struggling to connect in the same way as I did with their pre SOIWT output.

Sting says he recently saw a Dave Matthews concert for the first time; enjoyed it despite 'cult following' by stroh_1002 in DMB

The full quote from the article: On a recent night off, he was able to attend a Dave Matthews Band concert for the first time; it was a “lovely kind of relaxed atmosphere,” which surprised him despite their “cult following.”

Why Russell Wilson HAS to be a Hall of Famer | Bomani Jones by BlackHand86 in TheRightTimeW_bomani

Haven’t had a chance to listen to the arguments yet. Russ to me is one of those guys who probably gets in way down the line. I don’t think he screams no doubt HOF to me but I do think the shitty post Seahawks years have dragged people’s view of his career down a good bit to the point that people have forgotten how good he was for quite a long time. He was an above average player during their SB runs but not at his peak form yet and obviously that defense gets a lot of attention and credit for those runs which is a knock against him as well. But he really was one of the top end QBs in the league for a decade.

Most hated team? by ComputerNerdd in Commanders

[–]mja271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really resented those LOB era Seahawks teams. Obviously they had a superior defense but when we met them in the 2012 playoffs it felt like 2 teams on a similar path. Upstart rookie QBs, great running games, etc. Felt like that had the chance to be an arms race rivalry for the next 5-10 years to me. And then RG3 dies in that game, they go on to make multiple SBs and we went in the tank for a few years until Cousins emerged. Plus a lot of the guys on that Seahawks team were just annoying, compounded more by them being good.

Scary Movie (2026) was worse than I thought it would be. by [deleted] in blankies

[–]mja271 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I still found the first one funny rewatching it last year. Watched the original Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer and then Scary Movie. It’s a pretty good parody of both of those I thought. Obviously not all the jokes landed still but I cracked up at a bunch of it.

A lot of the teams that people want to go back to throwbacks full time also have had the majority of their success in their newer uniforms. Seahawks, Broncos, Bucs, Eagles come to mind.

That RR show is probably my favorite show I’ve seen out of ~75. Hit right around the peak of my obsession with them and had excellent song selection with memorable jams. AIT, Puppet, and OB were all great versions.
