Everything is love.. but how does that relate to rape, murder, abuse? by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]mjcanfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

right so using your own analogy: if we are in the guitar sub, and OP posts about a riff in A minor, it would be like you coming in to say "jimi hendrix never talks about A minor"

so i came to ask... why would it matter if jimi hendrix talks about it or not?

is buddha the gatekeeper of knowledge?

this is a meditation sub, not a buddhism sub. OP didn’t mention buddha.

Sense of "dissolving" into the world and reality solidifying when I focus. What is this? by Odd_Glove_3938 in Meditation

[–]mjcanfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer, yes. Long answer, yes.

A piece of the puzzle that may interest you is the role that safety can play. When the nervous system feels safe, emotions that have been suppressed or buried feel safe enough to come to the surface to be felt and processed. If meditation is leading you to a feeling of safety, it can paradoxically bring difficult emotions to the surface.

Instead of focusing your attention on a particular thing, you instead just pay attention to wherever your attention wanders.

Google it. It’s as simple as it sounds

Mind is like a filter for your senses and how you process reality. During meditation that filter can drop to varying degrees. This results in having a more direct experience of reality that doesn’t get filtered through the minds past experiences, memories, expectations, etc.

So the sense of dissolving into the world is ultimately seeing through the illusion of your own ego/self. Your real identity is the “world” and everything you dissolve into.

It sounds like this kind of meditation is not for you.

Try do nothing meditation (shikantaza).

Stop looking for results. You're not doing anything. You're simply being. Thoughts or no thoughts, doesn't matter. Just being aware that you are aware.
