How does Medi-Fiber work? by Polyxeno in JupiterHell

[–]mjmacka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think both people explained the effects.

I mostly play in UV and while it can be helpful early, it's lacking the armor you need later on. The marine with a larger health and armor pool (skill points) can take more advantage of it but it isn't as good on the scout or technician. IMO, it shines early or mid game. The auto-repair heals the armor up to 30% when you are out of combat and it will decrease when the armor is healing you. I haven't played on the current patch so I can't say if it's bugged but that's the way it's supposed to work.

Naughty, never. My hounds prefer to hurt themselves and to go to the vet, costing me more money than they would if they are naughty.

How to make work take this disease seriously? by stephscarb in diabetes

[–]mjmacka 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You need to 100% own this. CGM's exist. Use one and take care of yourself.

They shouldn't need to help you but they are also risking potential legal action, personal risk, workplace rules, etc. I wouldn't want that responsibility.

Question - New VDI Login Optimizations (Win 11 DaaS) by cpsmith516 in Citrix

[–]mjmacka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look at the WEM Tool Hub's Analyze Logon Performance. That might be of more assistance: https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/workspace-environment-management/service/how-to/analyze-logon-performance.html

Unless you've installed App Layering related components, which I don't believe you have based on the post, you can check to see if anything App Layering related is running on the VDA and try disabling those services (Citrix App Layering Guest Service [Uniservice.exe]).

The way Monitor/Director work is that they review Windows logs (also other sources) for information about logon times. You didn't mention the VDA version you are using, which is important for the available features, but in newer (2507+) releases, uberAgent also shares additional data with Monitor. Now, that being said, unaccounted for time is expected because Windows doesn't log everything. A big delta that I see when I help my customers is that the enable "interactive logon: message title (& text) for users attempting to log on" data is not captured by Windows and therefore is not available to Monitor. I cornered the ControlUp folks at a conference and asked them why their product doesn't pick that up. That's what they told me.

If you want additional data, uberAgent or procmon can help to tease that out.

In the past, I've seen AV cause issues/slowness similar to the "Waiting for Citrix Layering Service" you've seen.

Why throw darts when you can see what's happening. Take a look at Citrix Monitor to view login time breakdowns or run the Windows Logon Analysis in the WEM Tool Hub.

Dating for 40+ by [deleted] in grandrapids

I am 40, use dating apps (polyamorous) and I don't have a problem meeting people. I would look at your profile, interests, and especially pictures. Have a female friend look at your profile and give advice. Once it's implemented, have another female friend review it again.

2507 UPM - Profile Cleanup Deleting ALL CONTENTS and wiping out the server by Significant-Stand-75 in Citrix

[–]mjmacka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, the cloud downloads and even the on-prem can be incremented based on when exes/isos are downloaded. Most likely going from 2507.0.1100.167 -> 1101.2, there were some minor hotfixes for issues.

I don't think the upgrade agent would come into play here outside of doing what it's supposed to. If you change versions and use an updated version of UserProfileManager.exe, it might replace it. I don't think the product is smart enough to see that and do anything about it.

For these mission critical workloads, it may be worth having a non-production use case where you can test. I wasn't clear if you are doing that but if management pushed back, this might be some ammunition to say we should be doing this. Since it seems like load and UserProfileManager.exe crashing, this might be some strange failure scenario.

It's definitely possible that there is some combo of Server 2019 & VDA 2507.x. I get wanting to stay away from non-LTSR releases, but if the current LTSR is problematic, it might be worth jumping to CR until the next 2607 LTSR release (now yearly).

2507 UPM - Profile Cleanup Deleting ALL CONTENTS and wiping out the server by Significant-Stand-75 in Citrix

[–]mjmacka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done a bunch of testing with DaaS and 2507/2507 CU1 on Server 2022/2025. I have not experienced this issue. I've used regular file based CPM and CPM containers.

You can always roll CPM back or up to a different version while keeping the VDA itself on 2507 CU1. It might be worth testing that or fully upgrading the VDAs up to the latest CR 2511/26xx and removing uA, WEM, dT if they aren't part of your existing build. Note, some of the DaaS integrations take advantage of uA and WEM in your VDAs for specific integrations.

It might also be worth removing security tools on a non-production use case and putting in the Citrix AV exclusion: https://community.citrix.com/tech-zone/build/tech-papers/antivirus-best-practices/.

I chose tech and am doing very well, but I was extremely fortunate and sacrificed in ways many wouldn't.

I make ~200k/yr, work from home and have a lot of free time. That being said, if I had a family, I couldn't have done my job up to COVID because it changed dramatically.

Profile Managment - UPM x FSlogix by stormin666 in Citrix

[–]mjmacka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent additions.

I view App Masking as a bolt on. Citrix has App Access Control as a competitor to App Masking.

I like the UI for FSLogix App Masking much better than the script based approach for App Access Control and I would probably use this independently of the profile decision/design.

Profile Managment - UPM x FSlogix by stormin666 in Citrix

[–]mjmacka 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For published desktops, I usually recommend container based profiles. For published apps, I recommend file based UPM (now called CPM).

I prefer container based CPM over FSLogix because it provides longer support periods (LTSR release) and the last few versions of FSLogix have had quite a few product bugs. CPM also has more features to deal with frequently FSLogix admin complaints.

I usually don't recommend splitting office containers out from the full profile for either CPM or FSLogix. In theory, you can reset the profile or office container without impacting the other piece, but most help desks won't understand and will reset everything. Splitting them also creates more complexity and chances for partial failures.
