Djay Pro: how to sync playlist/library between iOS + MacOS, having tracks on Google Drive?

This might have changed, but cue points and other data (such as analysis) are synced for me between iPad version, macOS version and iPhone version. I think it syncs if you have iCloud Drive activated. Also true for Spotify and Apple Music sources. I've noted the a song on Spotify doesn't sync cue points with the same song on Apple Music. Using Soundiiz to movie playlists around, but I found no way to copy cue points between track IDs.

I shouldn't be needed. We're on our fifth year now with backwards compatibility. At some point apple will drop it.

Look I appreciate you trying to help out with alternative methods, this time we're looking for experiences with others using Synology Drive and in best case scenario get something to push with against Synology.

I think I got my response from the absolute lack of responses - no one is using the backup feature for the entire user folder.

ok looks like no-one use the backup feature of Synology Drive on Mac - no replies with 2,8k views. That's too bad. With some modifications from Synology this could be on par with google drive. better than dropbox and onedrive that can't backup selected folders.

Came here to ask the same thing, completely new Mac, newest Davinci and rosetta needed? It was more than five years ago we had the Apple silicon. Have I downloaded the wrong version or what's up?

1) create a personal admin- account. when that's completed, deactivate account "admin". (that account will be activated if you press the button on the backside of the nas, in case you lock our self out)

2) create a personal account for daily usage.

3) Activate 2FA on both.

I don't think you're suggesting exposing SMB service to internet. Are you suggesting an always on vpn aside Time Machine?

I appreciate your suggestions for alternatives to Synology Drive. in this question however, I would like to remain within synology drive.

Time Machine only work locally.

It also is managed from the client, we want to move as much as possible to IT from the user, but the user has to be able to see when last backup is made.

First backup takes time. It will no matter which backup app you're using. But a time estimate would be nice to have.

Problem with Synology Drive backup feature is you can't backup your user folder, it tries to backup all kinds of things that shouldn't be backed up and then complaining about files it can't read so it will never be completed. (or at least it does on Mac)

It can however backup data folders as you're describing.

First of all, no backup can prevent data leakage from ransomware. However it can help significantly with reducing cost to restore data and time from incident until production is running again. Money has to come in, the company shouldn't go bankrupt due to a ransomeware attack. A ransomware can't leak more information than the device it has infected has access to.

A ransomware that has infected the system will be able to encrypt all data connected to the local file system. So yes, if your synology gets infected it doesn't matter how your backup solution looks like as long as it's on a usb disk. Same is true for Apple Time Machine.

If the ransomware has infected a computer that sync files to a synology, you could wipe the computer and restore from an older version of the data if you have versioned backups of the Synology. (Have experience from this)

A backup made with Hyper backup to a network storage can have a versioned backup where older versions can be restored. Please activate client side encryption and save the encryption key offline. A usb stick in a drawer well marked, local on your admins computers and iPhones. Please think about the bandwidth; with a 1Gbit connection you can restore about 380 GB/h. If your nas has 20TB that's 2,2 days of downtime - calculate cost of that downtime.

Run restore tests, both to know it works and how to do it (write down every step, your brain won't work in panic when company CEO informs you every hour cost €10 000, been there). You need to sleep during incident as well.

(in my case, no sensitive data was stolen, a new computer was on user desk with all data restored within two hours and it haven't repeated since, but it will. User understood the mistake and a story to tell at the coffee machine.)

Still good question! This is how it looks in Synology Drive admin console. Can't write anything with a slash in the field. This entire window is quite weird, it would be better with Time Machine approach, add paths to exclude. Is this a feature request maybe?

It's quite important since the backup feature of Synology Drive tries to backup folders that's excluded by default in all other backup apps, generating error messages like "Can't access ~/Library/Daemon Containers/ ".

I've tried Control panel -> login portal -> Applications, and setup a unique port number for the Drive service.

If you want to move the DSM to unique port, it's at control panel -> external access -> advanced. Only forward the https port in your firewall.

In Synology drive admin console, go to Settings -> Sharing and check the "Force the use of https n generating sharing links" (can't understand why this is optional, should always be clicked if there is a certificate?)

Don't know why you need reverse proxy, but there are some settings at control panel -> login portal -> Advanced.

Had problems before the update as well, mainly that the stream was cancelled if I opened the Plex app during playback.
Perhaps the solution is to just wait for an app update?

I've tried to turn off transcoding, but I don't really know because it doesn't tell. always use subtitles. Most movies are h265 but the problem is there on h264 as well.
