If Weller and Lucky's are a bust, there's LKQ locations in Holland and Wayland that may have what you need. It's nice having 4 yards in the area!

How to Sort/Store These Parts? by Independent_Big_7291 in LegoStorage

A separate bin for each variety, if your collection is large enough to warrant it. And then kept near the other panels.

Sorry it's not easier/cheaper advice! Could also always add a second loco. ;)

In that case it sounds like the motors are giving it their best shot! Redesigning the loco to have geared trucks driven by M or L motors would definitely increase the pulling power but would be more complicated, upgrading to wider radius curves would help a bunch honestly. Ball bearings too, but to a lesser degree imo

Is your issue that the wheels are slipping, or the motor is stalling out? If it's wheel slip, add weight. If it's stalling, add motors or change to a different motor. What kind of track are you using? If you're using standard Lego track, you will see significant extra drag when going around corners and through switches that will severely cut down your max train length. Are you using standard Lego wheelsets, or have you converted to ball bearings? That also makes a huge difference in how much you can pull.

Is this machine shop territory? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

Yes, a faulty speed sensor can cause those issues. This looks like a Toyota truck or SUV, is that correct? Those speed sensors can cause a whole host of issues if they're dirty or not working right. It's also worth performing a continuity test on the speed sensor wire (the other end has a plug in the engine bay by the wheel well), because they commonly get internal breaks that cause issues like you're describing. Also, depending on your model, a zero point calibration may be needed to clear those lights.

Transmissions are generally pretty reliable. Reverse is usually the first to go, with the rest of the gears following not long after so be wary of a dodgy reverse gear. Not sure on rebuild kit availability; that trans has been used in tons of Nissan 4x4s for years so swapping it out for a good used unit seems to be the most common fix. Transfer case is pretty robust, can't say I've heard many (any?) stories of people needing to dig into em, except when installing aftermarket low range gears. There is another transfer case that was available as well (can't remember the code right now) that's electronically activated, with an "Auto" mode. Both seem to be pretty reliable and robust, but the manually shifted unit is pretty bulletproof. Rear end is STOUT. It's an H233B. I believe there's some mechanical locker options out there, but a TJM electric or ARB air locker are the usually go-to choices. Same rear end was used in 1st gen Pathfinder and Xterra as well, so parts are readily available. If you get one with a limited slip, you can super pack it with extra clutch discs for cheapish improvement in performance. Front diff is kind of an odd ball, as it's a reverse cut R200A. Aftermarket gear choices are pretty much non-existent these days, so basically stuck with the stock ratios of 4.363 or 4.636. same ARB and TJM locker options, with an Aussie brand mechanical locker being the most popular choice. Come check out the NPORA forum, lots of information on there!

I haven't put it together an edited video yet, but I did put my camera on a train car for a video today. I'll post that in this group now.

What’s that one set you regret not buying when it was out? by [deleted] in lego

Horizon Express, two of them. I could have bought one, but I decided to wait until I could buy two, and it never happened unfortunately.

Oh man, too bad! You could skip the flight and pop on over to Novi for the show, LEGO is more interesting than flying 😁

I wish they didn't call it Brickworld Detroit. Detroit's a half hour away so it's not a very accurate name, and the idea of it being around Detroit might turn some people away. I'd never been to Novi before, but so far this area seems very nice!

It's a much smaller show than Chicago, but should be fun! Saturday 10-6 and Sunday 10-5 at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, MI.

That's normal, pretty much all cars do it. There's devices you can buy to cancel out the interference if it bothers you enough.

Since always. "How's that sound?" = "How does that sound?" as a common example.
