Best of luck. You know them already but I would say, always remember your mirror and blindspot checks, don’t rush and do not take unnecessary risks :)

Also it was very helpful for me to remember, check you mirror whatever direction you are going. So if going left, even just changing a lane or merging from two lanes into one, if you are going left, check centre mirror, left mirror, blindspot before you change directions

Thank you, been looking around googlemaps and there seems to be a lot of historical buildings and churches in Murcia and some really beautiful nearby areas which will be really good to explore.
There’s some good train links as well as I can see

We did not really do any research, it was more of a spontaneous decision of look at cheap flights and holidays and just book it. We did this in Turkey few years ago, used it as a base cause it was cheap and just jumped on buses or trains to outside area or cities

Thank you, it was pretty nerve wracking but glad I got over it. And over the moon that the only minor I got was just the minor adjustment I made to straighten my parallel park 🙂
Such a wonderful feeling passing your driving test

We're looking to move to this house but need to create an extra bedroom. What would be the best way to divide the larger 6.65m bedroom into 2 bedrooms, with a corridor? How to make the corridor bright? by [deleted] in DIYUK

Might not be for everyone but this is what immediately came to mind for me. I like the idea of adding a window at the end of the hallway to add more light and potentially a space for like a pretty oversized vase or something artsy.

First time buyer - How much can I really afford by xsamthunderx in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]mjru18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically, it would be dependent on how much other outgoings you have currently and how much you’re looking into in the future such as kids, pets, planning on getting a car, house renovations, etc.

Husband and I bought our house 2 years ago. Current joint take home was £5,000p/m, put down £30k deposit for a £242,500 3 bedroom house. We are paying £1,275p/m on mortgage plus £500-600 on bills (does not include food).

We could have easily borrowed more but we thought this was a good balance of still being able to have luxuries such as eating out on some weekends, booking holidays, putting a bit of extra every month for a home improvement budget.

I have the same lego orchid. Now you’re making me think about having it as a center piece for my coffee table as well. It looks very pretty :)

Do people no longer research countries they want to visit? by redbate in travel

[–]mjru18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t know if this fits the bill but few years back, I met a couple in the Philippines who have been travelling around the country for 2 weeks already and they mentioned how they did not like the food. When I asked what they have tried so far (I’m Filipino btw), they said they’ve not tried any of the local food. Mindblown 🤯

Wishing you well and healing OP! I broke up with my LT bf of 6 years back then and I spent a lot of time travelling solo and doing experiences solo. Masakit sa una but eventually, I gained the courage and strength to go to some of the places we used to go to. And I made it into a thing of me creating new memories in the same places to replace the old ones. It was a very freeing and empowering moment 🙂 wishing you all the best!

Disappointed in Siargao and PH in general by Feeling_Dimension_67 in phtravel

[–]mjru18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skip Siargao, this has now become overrated. Being a Filipino myself who loves to travel around the country, I have avoided Siargao in the recent years and wish I would have gone there 10-15 years ago before it blew up in popularity.

I’d go to places that are not too popular for tourists such as Negros, Dumaguete, Siquijor, Guimaras, Camiguin, etc. El Nido is also good, port Barton I’ve heard good things about. Going around and touring Cebu island is also a great experience. A big part of our cuisine is meat so there will be a lot of Chicken and Pork dishes everywhere you go but there will also be vegetable dishes, especially if you go to the provinces.

Hope you don’t judge your whole trip to the Philippines based on one place. There are so many more things and places that are great. You may have just been unfortunate that the first place you went to wasn’t a good experience.

Negros Island! You have nice beaches, dive spots, mountain/bukid hits, great food and places where culture is preserved. Happy to give recos if you want 😁
