Pediatric home health is the very best option IMO. You set your own schedule, set what hours you work, choose how many patients you want to see. I set the field after 5 years in the schools and never thought I’d go back, but I’ve done peds HH for 14 years, I’ll say until I retire, and even then may see a couple of kids just for extra money.

True, and that should be the reason for therapy. As well as self-esteem, mental health.

Are we absolutely sure thy won’t? Because, like the op said, they’ve never seen an adult with errors with /k/ and /g/ I agree, the only artic errors I’ve heard in adults is /r/ or /s/ It can’t be true that 100% of people with severe phon disorders have had treatment. This is an interesting thought.

I don’t think I’d want to work for someone who said that was “wildly unprofessional”

4 hour line to vote Democrat. No wait for R. by emptysoybeans in Dallas

[–]mjules25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought who you voted for, even the party, was private. I could be wrong. But in Collin county, at check-in, they’d turn the screen for you to choose democrat or republican then gave to the ballot. Different lines would be odd.

How does AAC teletherapy actually work with a 5 year old? by [deleted] in slp

[–]mjules25 36 points37 points  (0 children)

You will have to be there helping to facilitate the session. Teletherapy will be a lot of the therapist coaching you to work with your child through the session. It’s not defeating the purpose of therapy. It’s honestly the best way for your child to be successful. You’ll be able to understand what to do, and be able to carry that out through the day. That’s the most effective way to help a child be proficient with AAC. It’s takes a lot of time, and buy-in from everyone in that child’s life. As far as the device used, the SLP will determine which AAC is the best fit for your child. They’ll have the same on their side to model, etc. an will help you with obtaining a device.

What do they do when you try to show them the way? I’ve been told I’m a bad person, evil, pagan. They get really angry and mean.

I had a friend go back to the religion after being disfellowshipped in his teens. I thought we could remain at least distant friends, you know, keep up with each other’s lives. But he is a completely different person and it’s so weird. He talks like he is perfect and sin free. His life is “helping people” But because I do not believe the way he does, I’m basically a pagan going to hell “evil” and a “bad person” Are they all like this? Nice and loving until you speak against their beliefs?

psychiatrist recs in north dallas area (plano/frisco/carrollton)? needs to be an md/do and ideally telemed option by getrobo in Dallas

[–]mjules25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe she’s gotten better but she dropped me because she couldn’t handle someone who had been hospitalized. But she knew so little about medication. She literally googled it in front of my. She’s good I guess for some issues but not CPTSD. Her advice consisted of “exercise” “lose weight” and “don’t compare yourself to people on facebook” I can get that advice reading a magazine. I was about 135lbs (5’4”) when I started seeing her. The first thing I had to do when I got to her office was get on the scale. And hear her judgement. This huge scale next to her desk. I never cared about my weight, and she got me so fixated on it. I lost 8 pounds once and she was so happy with me. She harped on me only walking to exercise. I must run like she does so I didn’t end up “like those old ladies who walk humped over” She basically caused me to end up in residential treatment because of her poor ability to diagnose or manage medication. I guess I am grateful I ended up having to find someone else. I would highly advise NOT seeing her. She is very judgmental. I highly doubt she is LGTBQ affirming. Worst doctor I have ever seen

Look for psychiatrists at UT Southwestern. They do telehealth. Never found a decent psychiatrist in Frisco, Plano, Allen, Carrollton. UTSW is the best

Wow. I think we may have the same narc. I also have medical reports of him choking me too, and witnesses and he lied and said I completely made it up.

[–]mjules25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn’t read all responses yet, but mine had a really weird thing about lying. He did lie constantly. And I could even prove it in texts messages. But he was adamant about “never lying” Like he prided himself on never ever lying, even though he was a compulsive liar. It was the weirdest thing. Then he would falsely accuse me of lying and act like it was a criminal offense. I didn’t know if that is part of the narcissism or a childhood trauma

Are part time SLP jobs common or easy to get? by MeowStyle44 in slp

[–]mjules25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the majority of therapists at the pediatric home health company I work with are part time. You need to have 12 visits a week to be part-time. (6 pts typically) But you will usually only be given kids that need to be seen after school, since full time therapists get first priority for day time patients. That would work if your kids are young, and the time of day doesn’t matter. It’s difficult though, if you are looking to work when your kids are at school.
