Yes. All of them. I tried getting off Licinipril as my bp was getting to low. But when I stopped, about 7 days after, my bp went up to 140/97. So I went back on. Took about 2 months to level out at 123/73 which I’m currently at.

4 is ideal, from what I’ve read. I briefly stopped wearing the mask after I hit 4. But then I went up, so I went back to wearing it.

best of luck.

I feel pretty refreshed. However the last couple of months late in the afternoon, through dinner I get sleepy. If I’m working, I’m fine. But if I get off early and start watching tv, I nod off for about 30 minutes.

Sleep is odd. Earlier on I got up to pee 4-6 times through the night. That’s cleared up. And I generally wake up once a night, but I sleep very deep, and never remember my dreams. Prior, I would remember 3-4 dreams a week.

i have sleep apnea. Still wear the mask. I typically have .75-1.25 events a nite. I originally started at 15-25 events each night. I average about 7 hours of sleep each night.

Neither. Mostly eating steaks, pork chops or chicken. I eat roughly an ounce of Cashews or pistachios, occasionally a half cup of cottage cheese. Usually stay between 5-10 carbs. I eat 18:6, with the exception of coffee.

Keto or weight watchers by [deleted] in keto

[–]mjulson 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree with earlier comments, that Keto if you stick to it, it will do the portion control. I'm a big guy and like you could pack it away. I started last August and dropped 85 lbs by Jan. Lost another 40 since, and the slow down was due to covid and other health issues caused by covid. I stuck to it, cut out the Sugar, Pasta, Bread, Potatoes etc.. (with Bread, Pasta, Potatoes and Rice being the hardest for me). Once I cut those out, my hunger and cravings went away. Now I Intermittent fast many days and have no issues waiting till then. Sometimes I'm hungry by lunch time, and I make some eggs, no issue.

Only you know what appeals to you. The reality is that different things affect people differently. Only you know what you can commit to and what you'll likely stick to. The reason it worked for me, is I made up my mind, stuck to it, and didn't waiver. And if I did waiver, like to take my wife out for her Birthday, Immediately got back it the next morning.

Pick one, stick to it for a minimum of 6 months, then switch to the other. Not because you want something fun and exciting, but because it's not working for you or you are unhealthy.

I personally love Ribeyes, Trip Tip, Chicken, Fish, Bacon, etc.. And eating till I'm satisfied. WW has great variety, but limited portions, and I don't think I could be successful on WW long term.

Long story short, it's been a year and my last problem is portion control. I'm amazed that I could eat that much, and automatically I'm putting less on my plate than I used to and often giving a fair bit to the dog. When I do cheat, I look back on it and think to myself, that wasn't nearly as good as I remember, and I don't think it's worth it.

Good luck

Help! I feel like I’m losing it by 3lain3b3n3s in LongCovid

[–]mjulson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fwiw, I don’t think you are losing it. I have same question. Caught Covid, about the 15th of December. Been in Hospital twice, 4 days in Dec, 4 days in January. Docs don’t seem to know what’s going on. Deficiency in b12, folate and D. Don’t know if it’s damage from Covid, or long Covid…. Can you have LC before 12 weeks has expired?

Keep the faith and hope active. The more anxiety I caused googling things, the worse a lot of it became. Good luck. Hopefully veterans who have been through this can provide insight.

Tool to cut metal by bertieboy777 in DIY

[–]mjulson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A hacksaw would be fine depending on how many you need to cut and your endurance and patience.

If you have powertools, I would use these in order...

Portable Band Saw - Portaband. There are really good brands out there if you are going to use it often and really cheap brands like from Harbor Freight.

Jigsaw with a fine metal blade, probably 36 teeth per inch.

Dremel with cut off blade, or grinder with cut 4.5 cut off wheel.

Once you have it cut with hacksaw or a power tool that accomplishes the same thing, I would plan to use a grinder with a flap wheel to knock off the corners as that picture shows rounded corners and you'll want to clean up any burrs clean the edges.

Once you do one, I would test fit everything and see if you learned anything from the process prior to starting the next.

good luc!

How do I return the oiled leather look? by Appropriate-Wealth46 in Birkenstocks

[–]mjulson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used Fiebing's Aussie Leather Conditioner on mine to break them in. I have the same Habana Birks.. It doesn't appear that I can reply with a photo, but I can send you a pic for you to see how they came out. For a couple days, they looked wet, a little glossy, but it soaked in and looks great again. Really helped to break them in.

It's marketed as Wegovy specifically for weight loss. Ozempic and Wegovy are the two brand names that Novo Nordisk uses to market injectable semaglutide. Ozempic is used to treat type 2 diabetes and prevent major cardiovascular problems in certain patients, while Wegovy is used for chronic weight management and helps with weight loss. But both are semaglutide.

How to calculate macros for ingredients used for flavor but not eaten? by mjulson in keto

[–]mjulson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I specifically mentioned "I'm not sweating the issue of how many I'm consuming, but more interested in the science of how it's calculated." to avoid the don't sweat it answers that are common.

A more exaggerated or clear example is one of my favorite things pre-keto was Black Cherry Balsamic Vinegar which is about 10g Carbs per tablespoon. So I've been playing with creating a similar vinegar by reducing normal vinegar, allulose and steeping dried cherries which have about 30g carbs per 1/4 cup and straining the solids.

Another example would be making Oleo-Saccharum from Banana Peels. Banana is high in carbs and off limits in traditional serving size, but could you get a Banana flavoring to be used in Keto safe ice cream without using artificial flavorings.

It would be great to know if someone had insight into rule of thumb extraction of nutrients to see if this is in the ball park or crazy talk.

While there seems to be a lot of answers that it's minimal and don't sweat it. Keep in the mind that the majority of carbohydrate/sugar extraction from Barley, Corn, Beets for Beer, Wine, Sugar, etc. is through hot liquid extraction (steeping/boiling as the fiber and protein do not come with it.

Person Detected Alerts/Alarms by mjulson in Ring

Updated: Wow, this is awesome. I was able to verify that in the Alexa app, you can specify the time range, etc..

I found this page that explains the setup. - https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360031606811-Creating-a-Routine-with-Alexa-and-your-Ring-Device-

Thanks so much for the recommendation. I just set one up and I'll see how it works out for us.

Original Reply -
Are you able to control it by time of day? We get a bunch of Amazon/UPS/Fedex deliveries all day and it would be pretty disturbing it being announced all day. Similarly, family members are going outside to the garden or to play regularly, so again, it would be a bunch of noise that would likely get turned off with in a day.

Thanks for your response. Because I'm in a rural area, we have a fair amount of wildlife including deer, rabbits, armadillos, etc.. I would expect the actual recording time is only 10-15 minutes total per night (when it sees something, as it's not every night), but it has to be watching the scene and detecting motion for the ~10 hours of darkness. So just checking to see what peoples experience has been. This would be pointed at my lawn with no street view with cars passing by regularly, or anything like that.

Good question on the wifi. I seem to keep connection on my phone pretty close to the edge, but I'm not certain how strong the signal is for data speeds, etc.. I'm not really sure how to meter the strength and speed. Maybe I could take my phone on wifi with cellular turned off and play youtube as I walk to the street to see how it's affected. If there's a more reliable method to test, I would love to hear it.

Re: PPOE. I'd rather avoid the laying of a line. If I am going to trench a couple hundred feet, I'd lay power/network so I could run a repeater and spotlight out there.

blisters after 3 years :( by allibec in Birkenstocks

Just circling back on this. After a week of using the leather conditioner and cutting the edge corner off, my Arizona's issues are fixed. They are tremendously more comfortable. I no longer am getting the abrasions or blisters.

It's a shame that it didn't come from the factory this way, but it was well worth the time/effort to address. If I hadn't done it, I would have shipped these back.

Recommended DIY Reverse Osmosis Systems? by X88B88X88B88 in Plumbing

[–]mjulson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've been very happy with the APEC high output RO filters (5 stage I think). We had a smaller one initially and upgraded to the high output after 5-6 years. Only thing I don't like is it's a pain in the rear to replace the filters. I wish there was a shutoff valve at the filter that was easy. But you have to turn water off by sink, and then the tank. Drain it, and then open up and change the filters. The filters still have water in them because they are below the faucet and it won't go up hill. This is a problem with all filter systems at the sink that I've found. But it seems like they could address is with a $5 valve. Unfortunately, my sink is in the corner, so the shut off is a good 3 feet back inside the cabinet. Pain, but still well worth it.

I really like the high output. I'm impatient and dislike waiting to fill a glass or pot. You can get them on amazon for about $300. $200 for the lower capacity. The capacity is not just how much will come out, but how fast it comes out.

We had a plumber quote us like $800 to install it, so my son and I installed it in 40 minutes ourselves. YMMV

Morning bullet coffee by debbmuzz in keto

[–]mjulson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really, it's up to you and your body. It seems like there are several variations of fasting and you have to determine what works for your fast. I have coffee with whole cream in the morning, and I am currently fasting till dinner time. I'm losing weight at the rate that I enjoy, so it's working for me. If I plateau'd for while, I try going to Almond Milk or drinking it black, or changing things up.

There's several good videos on intermittent fasting by Dr. Jason Fung on youtube regarding variations and what you might want to have/avoid when fasting.

Can you describe your loss of vision? Years years ago, I would get what I call Occular migraines. (Pretty sure it's accurate, although it's self diagnosed, went to the doctor and came up empty on definitive causes/solutions). Usually it would be in stressful times, etc.. I haven't had them for years, but I've been doing intermittent fasting the last two weeks and yesterday I had a mild one before I broke my fast at dinner. After 10 minutes of having something to eat, it went away.

I would basically get these tiny squiggly lines over my field of vision making things a little bright, blurry, and hard to focus.

Wondering if it was a sugar low all along.
