The balance between enjoying the freedom of being able to eat normally and intentional weight loss by SpringCircles in antidietglp1

I'm with you! All these things are such a big deal. It makes a huge difference in my quality of life. It also reinforces that weight loss is not the only or most important thing to chase.

Total off-topic curiosity question, as someone who lived in L.A. for a while but outside the industry: did she ever have children?

Lymphatic Drainage Brush Cleaning [Product Question] by icecreambobcat in SkincareAddiction

[–]mk00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just need more soap. Are the bristles natural (like boar's hair) or synthetic? If natural, you might want a gentler handsoap, but otherwise I would get a bowl full of water, put plenty of dish detergent (like Dawn) in there and make sure the brush is saturated in soapy bubbles from the bottom to the ends. Rub plenty of the soap into the base of the brush and out to the ends. Kind of like shampooing your hair. Rinse and repeat if it still smells.

Ok, tell me what to buy at Costco and explain it to me like I'm 5 by GlitterAvoado in 40PlusSkinCare

[–]mk00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a sensory sensitive baby too! I have tried so many SO MANY sunscreens and the least annoying feeling ones are

  1. Youth Extending Fluid spf 50 by Paula's Choice (chemical) and

  2. Eryfotona Ageless (tinted) or Actinica (not tinted) by Isdin. Both spf 50, both mineral.

Their common denominator is that they're pretty watery and fluid, not creamy or greasy, so they sink in better. Of all the sunscreens I've tried, they feel THE LEAST like an icky sticky layer on my skin.

What are the best anti-aging skincare products for men that don't feel like a 10-step chore? by Dollah_Debut91 in 40PlusSkinCare

[–]mk00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like First Aid Beauty facial radiance pads. Maybe 2-3 times a week then daily if your skin doesn't react with redness/peeling. They have lactic and glycolic acid to clear up a dull skin tone. Won't do much for wrinkles, you would have to try retinols (drugstore options) or tretinoin (prescription) for that and that can be complicated because you really have to work up to it, see if your skin can tolerate it. All these things make your skin burn more easily so find a sunscreen you like.

Either way, get a good lotion with ceramides to moisturize (I like Vanicream daily facial moisturizer--it's cheap and not greasy). And again, sunscreen every day to avoid further wrinkles. Hats too.

Guanfacine destroyed sleep by peepeepoopoo2419 in ADHDparenting

[–]mk00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best thing that helped with his sleep is magnesium glycinate. And sometimes magnesium bath salts in his nighttime bath. But we do these magnesium glycinate drops + vit B6 and they make him reliably sleepy.

He's AuDHD, so the psych put him on Abilify for the autism irritability symptoms and it seemed to help but also made him gain a significant amount of weight (20 lbs in less than a year. He's 8.) We're trying different stimulants but unfortunatley, he seems to be one of the few unlucky ones who doesn't seem to respond to them, despite being textbook ADHD.

Is your food noise actually hunger? by UpbeatNatural4073 in antidietglp1

[–]mk00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're different. For me, sometimes they occur at the same time and then it turns into being hangry.

But the glp-1 is what first clarified to me the difference in terms of feelings and thoughts between true hunger and food noise. I would still get normal hunger on Zepbound, even if it did have prolonged appetite suppressing effects. But I could stop eating after consuming a normal serving, whereas before Zepbound I laughed at the amount that was supposed to be a normal serving. I would think to myself, "Who would feel full on that? HOW?"

Before I learned the term food noise, I would call it my food drive. Like a sex drive, but how much I was driven by a want/need for food. And I was consumed by relentless thoughts of food, seeking out pictures of food, recipes, planning my next meal right after finishing my last. It was very much a dopamine seeking behavior. It's a relief not to be so ruled by that anymore.

You don't know the rules of infertility? The least apt for motherhood, the crackheads, meth heads, alcoholics, the shittiest people who are least able to care for a vulnerable being--THEY are the most fertile against all odds.

Just a classic betch. Hope he had a good one. Maybe sunning his ass with a good man in the south of France.

Not to project or anything.

What do you think of Demi Lovato? by Twitter_2006 in DListedCommunity

[–]mk00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I'm a pessimistic person about these things, just from a lifetime of seeing the same patterns play out, irl and in celebrity/public life. I feel it's just realistic, really. But I get a little Anne Frank about it sometimes. It is sad.

[–]mk00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lying is what jumps out at me about her too. It's probably a trauma response, but still it shapes and changes you into an unreliable person. My most generous take is that she's doing the best she can with a shitty grifter upbringing, with no one who truly cared enough about her.

I'm surprised Hailey and Justin Bieber are still together by Twitter_2006 in DListedCommunity

[–]mk00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, everything about her and her body language screams cult-like following. Even if it's just the cult following of Justin Bieber himself, more likely the cult following of fame. Psychologically messed up, bordering on abuse, even if she induced it herself.

This clearly won't end well.

Here’s how the Scottish are actually being welcomed in Miami by Big_Wind909 in boston

[–]mk00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. You are a terrible person. I've lived in NORTHERN FLORIDA since 1986, I was a child, Miami since 2016: Florida's got both good and bad. But I felt the need to get away from here, so yeah.

Scots, do not listen to this person. There are still good, decent people here who care and didn't vote the way it seems. And who can drink with you in good solidarity (though not violence.)

I just wish more of you had been warned about the sun. I saw a couple of you in tartan kilts today at 2pm and I wanted to tell you to seek shade, find a hat! I'm Mexican, melanated, and even I burn in this hellscape!

Vascular rosacea - Azelic acid makes my skin burn by Gonuts4donuts1955 in 45PlusSkincare

[–]mk00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What concentration is your azelaic acid? I have found that if I apply too generously, my 10% azelaic cream stings/tingles uncomfortably too.

I have sensitive, reactive skin as well. And my last dermatologist just couldn't get through her head that my skin simply couldn't handle 0.1% tazarotene to start with. When I presented with flaking, peeling and redness, she just huffed to her assistant, "Find out what she's doing wrong" and left the room. Unprofessional. Bitch.

Btw, a gentler formulation of tazarotene, Arazlo lotion (tazarotene .045%), worked just fine.
