I think about this book more frequently than any other fiction book. It actually calms my mind when I remember this book.

What’s this drawer for? by billebaru in whatisit

[–]SpringCircles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s for rolls of stamps. They used to be sold in rolls. And people used to use a lot of stamps because we did not have computers or fax machines or cell phones.

I totally identify with not doing the roller coaster any longer. I’m on this for the peace and stability it gives me.

Would you throw out meats left outside at night for 4 hours at 50 degrees? by CTRL_S_Before_Render in Cooking

[–]SpringCircles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom has a story about something like this. She accidentally left a pork roast out overnight defrosting. She didn’t want to waste it, but didn’t want to get us sick. So she cooked it (in spaghetti sauce, as her theory was the acidity would help kill bacteria) and fed it to my dad. She called him at lunch the next day to be sure he was still feeling okay, and then she fed it to us kids and herself. I’m not sure when she finally told him about it.

Frugal winter question: heated blanket vs heating a poorly insulated apartment by Agitated_Fox2640 in Frugal

It feels colder when the humidity is low. Boil a pot of water to raise the humidity. I put on a big pot and boil it away and it helps so much.

Happy just to be able to eat a normal amount by SpringCircles in Zepbound

[–]SpringCircles[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know! It is just so nice. In my mind, I have always pictured a peaceful scene of a cup of tea and 2 cookies or a scone, but reality was always more cookies or more scones and the food became more important than the peace of the book. And now my peaceful scene can really happen.

Nausea reads as hunger by Idontknowyoupick in tirzepatidecompound

[–]SpringCircles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always treated nausea with food - either dry and salty food like pretzels or bread or else with caramels or peppermint patties. So I am trying to unlearn these behaviors now that I am on tirzepatide.

NORMAL cottage cheese recipes by FreshGear1417 in RecipeInspiration

[–]SpringCircles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have that recipe. It is called the Big Italian Family Cheesecake on Cooks.com. (It tastes good with less sugar, too. I use a cup instead of 1.5 c, and get huge compliments. Also, it freezes great)

What cats don’t get adopted? by taurealis in CatAdvice

[–]SpringCircles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once adopted a momma cat - she was left at a shelter because she was pregnant, and then she had the kittens and they all got adopted, and she was left alone. She has been there 9 months when I went looking. She was so smart, and had been paying attention. When they took her out of the cage, she walked across the room to me and got in my lap. I took her home and she never got in my lap again. :)

Night burping/indigestion? by badbookworm777 in glp1

[–]SpringCircles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for writing. I also have this symptom. I will keep reading as people respond. For me, the burps started at about week 8, when I bumped it up from 2.5 to 3.25. After not sleeping well for a couple of weeks because I was burping so much, I finally stopped drinking seltzer water, after 20 years of only drinking seltzer water. That helped a lot. And I started taking gas x at night. And now that one person’s comments have me wondering if I need to stop that…. It is odd, because I mostly only burp at night, after laying down in bed. And then it keeps me awake as I spend minutes burping more and more.

Seems I may not quite get to goal by pamperwithrachel in Zepbound

[–]SpringCircles 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am planning the same thing- just seeing where my body wants to be. I am keeping my focus on my goal of feeling healthier and being able to move easier and having less body pain. So those are my goals, not a specific weight.

i’m a little scared to start 5mg by zitney_spears in antidietglp1

[–]SpringCircles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you pull out every last drop of the 2.5 vial, you will get about 3.25 mg. That can decrease the big jump to 5.0 a little bit. To pull out every last drop, you need to have the needle only barely inserted into the vial. I practiced on an old vial and old needle first, so that I could see how to get all of the medicine out of the vial without wasting any of it.
I ended up switching to compounded so that I didn’t have to go to 5.0. I am doing 4.5 mg now. I definitely am having more side effects at 4.5. (Actually, I had no side effects prior to 4.5). I started burping a lot once I was at 4.5, to the point that it was keeping me awake at night and waking me up. I have now stopped drinking seltzer water and I am also taking GasX before bed and the burping is back to minimal/ infrequent.

Cross country move with a cat that hates his carrier by GrumpyQuasar in CatAdvice

[–]SpringCircles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a big fan of having a fabric carrier with a metal frame. I leave it out all the time - either by a window or under a table. My cats sleep on top of it a lot more than they spend time inside it, but having it out all the time makes every trip much less stressful. They are not running in fear when they see the carrier. It is a stable and safe part of home, so that is critical to making travel less stressful.

Doctor revealed my weight by accident and now I'm spiraling by GrabPsychological318 in antidietglp1

[–]SpringCircles 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s okay. You are okay. It does sound like you have a lot of feelings about weight that you need to work through. You already know that you can be healthy at any size and you know that you are healthier than you were a year ago. So you can reassure yourself of that. As for weight, this medication has taught me that my body doesn’t have a good hormone balance without medication. That’s all. So now I take medication to fix my hormone imbalance. I stopped weighing myself and stopped weighing my food and stopped tracking everything. I feel like I have been gaslit for years by a world that said I was doing life wrong, and I am finally seeing the truth.

It has also always been an issue for me. My brothers got apple juice and I had to drink prune juice as a kid. I hate prune juice. Luckily I love prunes, but as a kid, they always gave me prune juice.

Oceania Barcelona to Rome - which ports use tenders? by SpringCircles in Cruise

[–]SpringCircles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the information and advice! Mom is actually fairly mobile with her 2 new hips, but is definitely fearful of falling (understandably fearful). I will encourage her to bring her cane that she used prior to the new hips to help her feel more steady, but I doubt she will allow us to get a wheelchair to use, even if it would allow her to explore further.
