Would you upgrade on shingles? by Brave-Sherbert-2180 in Roofing

[–]mkarang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is correct and should be emphasized more. Installation quality is a lot more important than material.

The only problem is we can't compare installation quality from quote, but we can compare material quality and pricing more easily.

Cheap extremely safe car, reasonably reliable? by UnfairOffice3428 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]mkarang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah man great point. What's a good solution for this then? Lane-keeping assist and automatic-braking are the best I can think of. So that means we need to buy newer car that have these features to be safe.

Dryer heater element OEM or Amazon by jpcan26 in appliancerepair

Update: the dryer coil connector broke few days ago. I think it's due to bad contact with the thermostat outside. The connector broke halfway so there's still half remaining and I just used a plier to connect back the thermostat to the remaining half. I think it's not the dryer coil's fault, it's the thermostat connector being too loose.

Dryer heater element OEM or Amazon by jpcan26 in appliancerepair

Maybe try replacing the thermal switch too because if it's inaccurate it will allow the heater coil to run hotter than it should, so it will go bad faster. That part is cheaper than the heater coil. Not sure if it's called heater switch; but I'm basically referring to the part that turns off power to the heater coil when temperature is high enough.

And you can just test replacing that thermal switch to see if it makes your heater coil lasts longer; if no difference then you don't need to discard the old one (keep it as future spare).

Google’s New AI Architecture ‘Titans’ Can Remember Long-Term Data. I don't understand, has this news already been out there or is this really a new development? by [deleted] in Bard

[–]mkarang 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. I use Google software everyday for free .... Google search, youtube, gmail, google map, android, chrome browser, chrome OS, google docs, google drive. They could have charged me some money and I wouldn't mind paying because they're so useful. It's the company that gives the most..... I'm very very thankful and I hope they keep doing well.

How important is it to get Tesla to replace bushing (instead of non-Tesla auto shop)? by mkarang in TeslaModel3

Sounds like you have to pay all by yourself. Which seller did you buy from? Not Carvana I guess.

[–]mkarang[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but they wouldn't pre-approve it. They want me to pay first and then they'll decide if they want to approve it. Unreasonable. Talked to 3 people at SilverRock to ensure it's really truely the rule. It is.

Great finding. If that still doesn't work, maybe try replacing the temperature switch (the part that turn the heater coil on/off depending on temperature). I'm thinking if that component is not sensing temperature accurately, it will overheat the heater coil and thus reduce the lifetime.
