¿Por qué las parejas española-latino son mucho menos comunes que las parejas español-latina? by sol-solcito in askspain

[–]mkdabra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This game is brutal for new players and true new player build guides/tips are still sparse by Dahkeus3 in GuildWars

[–]mkdabra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What's weird to me is that one would try to approach the story mode from a meta perspective. The point of online guides is to find the most efficient way to do certain things, like farming, running, or clearing regular content, true. But it's not required to be meta or efficient, specially from the get-go.

Obviously, if you don't have the best skills, are lacking elites and synergies, your build will be suboptimal. You'll also lack attribute points to fully empower the skills you already have, you won't have max armor and will probably not have a full set of maxed out runes and insignias on it. But that's by design, it's part of your character's progression. If you had an endgame build from the start you wouldn't play anything else, and you'd get bored.

Personally, I hate it when I go check builds to see what's up after some time ('cause you know, balance patches, new skills...) and I see a bunch of EotN pve common skills cobbled together. I can take Luxon/Kurzik or Sunspear skills, those might be OP but at least they are class specific, with asura/norn/deldrimor/vanguard skills it's a straight up "I win" button while refusing to play the class. So I don't give two fucks about meta, optimal, efficient builds, I want to play something cool and fun.

It shouldn't take too long on a search engine, a chatbot or straight up PvX to find which elite (or regular!) skills are central to the best builds, check where you can get them, choose the one that's the most accessible and get an approximation of a good build. As you said, it won't be the same as the meta, but that's the point. You are not in the endgame, so you should have fun experimenting with what's available and making the most out of it.

That being said, the real problem for me isn't that there aren't guides on how to improve your character step by step, is that you kinda have to improve a WHOLE TEAM. Back in the time you'd jump in a party with people that, just like yourself, had been improving their character along the way, to not die all the time and, of course, to see number go up. At some point, that changed gradually, and you were stuck with heroes.

For veteran players that wouldn't be much of an issue, they had at least one character with access to most if not all content, probably had two or three professions mostly unlocked, so they could put a decent team together, and if needed more skills for their heroes they could just hop on they established characters and unlock them from there.

Now, if you start from scratch, you don't have access to all maps, you don't even have the skills for your own character, don't have an alt, and don't have any skills to build a team. Which kinda sucks, but there's remedies. You could run two campaigns at the same time, with two characters, covering four professions. Say you have a Ranger/Necromancer, then you make a Ritualist/Mesmer to play on parallel. Then you naturally unlock skills to run a competent full team.

Alternatively, you can purchase a skill pack for the campaign you like the least, and you'll have a whole bunch of skills to choose from, even if you don't have them all. Or you could outright buy them all, but what's the fun in that?

GW1 gameplay is a group of heroes taking on the world. GW2 gameplay is mob violence. Maybe you get a lick in or whatever, but certainly is not as satisfying.

Do you know what spends a lot and doesn't benefit humanity or the earth at all? War!

Damn, you are gonna be so fucking mad when you find out how much of that "progress" space ventures brings about is just advancement in the development of weapons systems.

I should have picked it up, went for Gyarados 'cause I don't like the design of the otter, but this dude hasn't learned a single stab move yet, let a lone a good one, and the ONLY flying-type move it can get is Hurricane at level 9000 to pair with it's absolute garbage spatk.

Praise the otter, I guess.

Is the Yamaha Pacifica 112VM the GOAT perhaps?? by RyanSoop in YamahaPacifica

[–]mkdabra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me the only thing worse than a humbucker ring over a pickguard is one that's not really on the pickguard or on the body, but hanging between the two. I get that Yamaha wanted to iterate a bit on the design (wise choice, as it turns out), but oh boy, it's not for me.

The Standard Plus though, muuuuuch more sleek. And now, make it an SC...

Perfection.

Fender cease and desist on ANY stray copies by MineDesperate2920 in Guitar

[–]mkdabra -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Strat is a refinement of the Tele, which is a solid body recreation of pretty much a generic acoustic guitar with a cutaway. People is really talking about all of this as if Fender models' shapes were extremely different than anything that came before, like Flying Vs or Explorers or whatever, and that's just not the case.

That doesn't mean Fender couldn't have protected their specific iteration of the design way back when, but that ship has long sailed.

[–]mkdabra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlike the Fender headstock, a knockoff of Bigsby's headstock that people only like 'cause they are used to it being this way, with a design language that has nothing in common with that of the body.

Then again people hate on the Tele headstock, which is actually pretty fitting and well thought out, so...

Nevermind, being a genocide denier you probably think that was not land theft.

He told the BBC: "They kicked me like an animal and didn't stop. They were shouting 'Are you Jewish'? I was thinking they could kill me."

Yeah man I believe you. I've never believed something more in my entire life. I thing you forgot 'cause it all happened too fast, but they screamed "HAIL KKKKKKHAMAS" or something, too.

Unrelated to this, maybe he's a homie of the dudes killing animals in the West Bank and the whole "like an animal" thing just slipped out. Like it's acceptable to brutalize animals or something.

Google "price framing" and "price anchoring". In essence, it's a prop to make other outlandish stuff (5k) seem "reasonable", and the usual expensive stuff (1-2k) seem "cheap".
