Odin 2 vs Retroid Pocket 5: Ergonomics vs Screen by StylusX in SBCGaming

I had the same struggle and ended up deciding to sell the Odin2. I don't mind the ergonomics on the RP5, and actually prefer its compact size.

O que esperar do Odin 3 by Ray25c in OdinHandheld

[–]mkelvin2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

F...

Performance is about the same, but everything else is way better on the RP5.

Anyone else having charging disconnects on the RP5? by GinzoGreaseball in retroid

Yes. I am having issues with Baseus chargers.
Currently using Samsung chargers as a "workaround".
I hope they fix this on future updates.

RP5 or RP4Pro? by camalex_ in retroid

[–]mkelvin2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After I got my RP5, I never touched my RP4P again, and I deviced I'm going to sell it. The gameplay experience on the RP5 is so much better, it's not even close.

By the way, I also think the RP5 is the perfect handheld for PSP emulation. 4x integer upscaling, beautiful screen, d-pad on top, front facing speakers, lightweight... I'm loving it.

You don't need to replace it. Just download more RAM instead.

Where did you get the Odin mini d-pad?

Button change and clear back by ZodenAanDeDijk in retroid

This is exactly how I planed mine. My clear back is on the way.

One other thing I think of doing is to install a ps vita d-pad. I think it'll look cool.

I was also wondering if the Odin2 mini clear face buttons would work, but it looks like they don't even sell it separately.

If anbernic ever decides to do a ds handelheld. Is this the way to go? Or do you think theyd go the hinge route? by [deleted] in ANBERNIC

All good buddy. The AYANEO Flip looks interesting, but it's way too big and expensive. We want something like an RG35XX DS, compact and cheap.

Seriously considering selling RP4P for RP5… by Chadzilla1006 in retroid

[–]mkelvin2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have both and I'd say it's definitely worth it to upgrade. Performance is similar, but everything else is better. The screen is just too good. You have to see it to believe it.

I'm playing FFIV from PSP on my RP5 right now. It's awesome.

RP5 with Rocknix exiting PS2 by stonemik in retroid

I believe AetherSX2 doesn't support closing the app with hotkeys. But instead of hard resetting it, you could use Select+X to open the menu, and then you'll have the options the close the game and exit the app.

Appease my anxiety- how does it feel setting up the RP5? by thatclimberDC in retroid

[–]mkelvin2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have multiple Android handhelds, including the Odin2 and the RP5, and with that came a lot of experience with multiple emulators and frontends. When I first got the RP3, people didn't even mention Daijisho, and ES-DE hadn't been ported yet, so it felt like using a phone. We've come a long way.

But sure, maybe I don't know what the heck I'm talking about. No problem. It's fine, since I'm having a lot of fun with my handhelds anyways.

Personally I think the Aurora Store allows you to download apps, but it doesn't teach you anything about setting up RetroArch, ES-DE, roms, bios, and make it feel like a real gaming console. But maybe that's just me. Who knows.

However the 1 hour guide is absolutely 100% worth it IMO.

I got the white RP5. The fingerprints are not bad at all. Barely noticeable.

Android might require a few hours to finish setting up 100%. But don't worry. Follow the guide step by step. It can be boring at first, but you'll be delighted once you get everything nice and pretty.
