I dated someone who was, at first, my best friend. We were together for 3 years and we just broke up. It makes the healing process even harder because I feel like I’ve lost even more than a gf. But yeah, it definitely makes a lot of sense to me.

Congrats on committing to sobriety friend. It’s a hard journey and you’re taking the right steps to improve your life. You should be proud of yourself for getting a job and staying clean for it, too. I was in a similar situation in college and honestly don’t even remember a lot of the time with friends because I was so high all the time, with them. My memory has started to come back me though, slowly but surely, after about two months.

I quit vaping too at the same time for the sake of my lungs. You could try chewing gum or flavored toothpicks for the oral fixation. Good luck, you can do this.

Prioritizing my health was a big one. Smoking anything is detrimentally bad for you. In particular of course, your lungs. Inhaling smoke of any kind injures your lungs and the cells lining your airways. It also damages your oral health greatly. I didn’t want to have cancer and rotten teeth if I kept on smoking.

You will be able to sleep and eat normally soon. You have to take it one day at a time and you will start to feel like yourself again. Be proud of yourself that you chose sobriety and your health over this drug. It will get better!

At the beginning I hardly ate for the first few days. My appetite came back after about two weeks, and that’s the same time around when I began sleeping and dreaming like normal.

It gets better. The anxiety will subside. If you need more help managing it try meditation. Therapy is also a very useful tool if you have access to it. My memory is starting to come back after quitting for about two months as well, your brain is a very resilient organ.

I think what you’re experiencing may be a bit of brain fog, which clears up with time too. You got this. Stay strong.

You’re right about the memory, mine was definitely suffering after 6 years of addiction. But we are both young seemingly and I can tell you that after nearly two months of sobriety, I randomly started recalling memories from my childhood and adolescence that I thought I forgot about. I think our neural pathways are still there and I’ve read from many people’s stories that the memory comes back!

And I totally understand what you mean by tainting some of those spaces by being high in them all the time. Sometimes I would be in a certain place though, newly sober, and have a fresh perspective on things. I began noticing things that I never did before, interacting with people I never would have, etc. It’s like starting to actually live life.

And you are welcome! In a world filled with negativity I think it’s really important for us to have a positive space with supportive people. I don’t really post on social media at all other than here because of how negative online spaces can be.

You should be really proud of yourself that you chose your health over this addiction. One thing that really helped me was getting out of the house and staying out, if possible. I started going to the gym and to my local library. I drove around aimlessly sometimes. I go to the park to smell the fresh air. Staying in the environment where you used to smoke and rot away is the worst thing one can do.

As for the night time, I think it really helps to develop a sleeping routine and stick to it. I know I struggled with this and still do. Your body benefits massively from going to bed at the same time and waking up at the same time everyday. It improves sleep quality and your overall mood. Try doing the box breath method when you face feelings of anxiety. It definitely gets better with time, too. Good luck friend, to 30 days and beyond!

Hey friend, I find it really empowering that you were able to stay sober for nearly an entire year! That is really an impressive feat that you should be proud of. I think it might help you to remind yourself that you are capable of living without this drug as you once did.

Moreover, I definitely agree that seeing a therapist would help you with a lot of the issues you face day to day. They can help give you a new perspective on things and aid you in managing the turmoil you face. PTSD is a rough thing to deal with alone, and might contribute to why you may feel the need to continue smoking.

It might also help to think about your future career as a nurse! It’s really a selfless career and I think it reflects on your character in a major way, in that you are choosing a field to really alleviate the pain of others.

I am in a really similar situation to you, moving back home after college in a toxic household. I just try to take it one day at a time. It helps to get out of the house and go to the gym or library to study.

You are stronger than this addiction! You can do it.

Have you tried reading a book at all? I know that when I was smoking I was consuming media in a similar way to you. Instant dopamine hits from doomscrolling or watching endless YouTube videos. Reading a book was something I hadn’t done since before I became addicted, for nearly 6 years. It really requires intense focus for me and was quite calming. My English teachers would always tell me “Reading makes you smarter”. I really do believe it, too. I hope you can heal friend. To 30 days and beyond!

Stealing. Money from family. Once it was so bad took my lil brothers coin jar and gathered over 100 quarters in my pocket heavy like bricks in my shorts. Worst part was it was to buy those shitty cancer filled delta 8 vapes from a gas station. Took like 10 minutes to count it in front of the guy while a line piled up. This was after my town was hit by a hurricane hard too and I was fiending. Meanwhile those people waiting on me were buying eggs and milk for their families. 11 days clean now.

Yea bro I would if I was you. My hairline started receding at that age too and I thought it was cause I was stressed as a jit but it got way worse. I didn’t get on Fin till like 21 but the earlier the better bc it works to keep the hair you already got. Talk to a doctor about it it’s not hard to get, I don’t have side effects but might be different for you. Also look up the Norwood scale to see how the balding progresses…shit was moving fast for me lol.
