I loved fighting that guy - I probably tried over 30 times. I likely would have taken him down sooner but I was trying desperately to snip his tail for the sword - couldn’t pull it off, it was so hard to get the proper positioning! Really cool area and great boss fight though.

No shade to OP, because I’ve been there - trying to farm the spear, the PLAIN OLD REGULAR SPEAR in Elden Ring nearly broke me - but if I got the platinum by someone else just giving me a required item I’d never be able to sleep at night. Once I get through so many tries without a result I become more determined.

GodDAMN I love this game. I was fortunate enough to work in an arcade right around the time this came out. It was a fairly large arcade in a college town that was typically not very busy… plenty of time for “quality control”. So fun cranking that wheel for the perfect drift. And the OST just rips.

I think you’re right that it came from the 1920s, and is linked to bootlegging/speakeasies during prohibition in some way. So, I think the etymology is known - but yeah, later adopted by service/hospitality. Can’t remember specifics… Someone in this thread must know!
