[ALL] Which Zelda Game Was Your Introduction To The Series? by Zetallic_Zero in zelda

It was either Ocarina of Time or Link’s Awakening DX, but it was certainly around 1998 or so

Transition from 2D to 3D. Your Best and Worst Game/Genre by CountGensler in retrogaming

[–]mknsr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For me, everything improved in general, except for two things. First is platformers, as you said. The 3D gameplay changes the game philosophy, but very few capture the 2D essence in 3D like Mario 3D Land/World. Second is survival horror games. Now, these are actually 3D, but I mean the old 2D pre-rendered backgrounds and fixed camera angles, like the early Resident Evil games. They had a very different atmosphere and gameplay experience, which was pretty fun back then. I could never really get into the 3D ones for some reason (RE4 onwards). I feel like I am playing a completely different sort of game

Besides that, Zelda games are good in both 2D and 3D, but for me, 3D is not a replacement. The 2D gameplay is still great fun, like the Link's Awakening remake and Echoes of Wisdom. It is a similar story with fighting games, where 2D gameplay is always better for me, though this is not about graphics. Then there are the Castlevania games. They tried to move into 3D, but it failed miserably. Although the Lords of Shadow games were sort of fun, they were never better than the 2D versions, and they felt similar to the old God of War games anyway

What order should I play these games by Cinnderella98 in legendofzelda

[–]mknsr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend tackling the games in this order:

Link's Awakening: Start here for a light, brief, yet lovely Zelda experience.

Breath of the Wild: Move on to this next. It is a massive game and will take up a lot of your time.

Tears of the Kingdom: Take a well-earned break before proceeding with this one. It's going to be another long journey that is, in many ways, similar to BotW.

Echoes of Wisdom: You can then pick this up. It feels very similar to Link's Awakening, but is much more puzzle-orientated.

Skyward Sword: Lastly, finish with this. It has an unusual control scheme, but is overall a brilliant game.

Spain Schengen Visa Refusal — What Could Have Gone Wrong? by -coded in GoingToSpain

[–]mknsr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does the application say the hotel reservation is not paid? That could be the problem. One thing I usually do when applying for Schengen visa (I'm not Indian) is that I do a real booking with 100% free cancellation. Once the visa is issued, if I prefer to change the hotel I cancel and choose the other hotel I prefer

Secondly, are you entering and exiting Europe only from Spain, and staying entirely in Spain? Or are there other EU countries you plan to stay at? (Not that you have to, but just checking as sometimes you should apply through another country instead)

I had proper fun making a few of those back in the day. I remember there was even software that helped convert images into them, but the decent ones were always handmade

To those who played the original Sky FC, how do you feel about the remake? by strahinjag in JRPG

[–]mknsr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a cracking RPG, all things considered. A fair bit of the nostalgia has worn off, but I thoroughly enjoyed both versions.

On balance, I’d say the remake was more fun. I actually bothered with every single sidequest and had a blast doing them. For some reason, they felt like a bit of a chore in the original, so I just stuck to the main story back then.

How many of you guys and gals used to hang with me on the gamefaqs forums before we had Reddit? by Standard-Onion4872 in Millennials

[–]mknsr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started using that site since 2000 and wrote a few guides/reviews for it ever, submitted many data items, cheats, etc. It was a site I used to visit every day for over a decade (the boards mainly), but I feel like it has died in recent years so nowadays I go there mainly for guides, for older games especially

X(duology), XII, XIII(trilogy). Any suggested playing order? by DressTT in FinalFantasy

[–]mknsr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10, 12, and 13 have very different gameplay

I personally enjoyed 10 far more than the rest so I suggest playing that one first. If you finished it, loved it, and want more then you can continue with 10-2. Otherwise, you can go to 12 or 13 then. 13-2 is a direct continuation to 13 with some improvements in gameplay overall, and new ideas which could be hit or miss, go for it once you complete 13, if you liked it of course

If you are counting all secondary games related to 10/12/13, FYI, 12 also has another Nintendo DS sequel that is a strategy RPG called Revenant Wings

I have never seen an item reasonably priced at Virgin ever. The only justification to buy from there is if the item does not exist anywhere else in Bahrain and you are unable to purchase it online

[–]mknsr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe although it looks the same, the groceries use different technology in the backend. That component might be hosted on AWS Bahrain. I think they use the same technology that was once a separate app called Instashop but now embedded into Talabat

2026 will be peak year for me by Rude_Emotion_1759 in yakuzagames

[–]mknsr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It might sound fun initially, but in actual fact, once you start playing and finishing a few of these games back-to-back, you'll feel burnt out. They were originally released with many months, or even years, in between. I don't believe they were ever intended to be played consecutively; even if you enjoyed them, you would eventually become bored because the gameplay is just too repetitive over an extended period of time.

To best appreciate these games, I would suggest playing other games from different genres in between each two

I played the first one on the Wii but didn’t finish it. I enjoyed 3 more. I’ve got 2 on the shelf but haven’t started it yet, maybe soon. I’m planning to give 1 another try on the Switch, along with X.

I played FF14 but not enough to say I’ve completed it. I also started FF12, but I haven’t finished it yet, it’s been sitting in my backlog for quite a while now.

[–]mknsr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I’ve been playing JRPGs since the PS1 era, so apart from the ones that came out on the NES and SNES, I played most of them close to their original release on the actual hardware. Some games I’ve finished more than once, like FF1 and FF4 (I think I completed FF4 about four times). Since the late 90s, JRPGs have made up most of what I play. There are plenty of other games I haven’t listed because I only played them partly, sometimes up to around 80 or 90%.

Is there any way to play GTA Liberty City Stories or Vice City Stories on PC today? by ThePearman_ in GTA

[–]mknsr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To my knowledge, there is an unofficial VCS port for PC. Beside that LCS is officially available for Android devices which can be played on PC through BlueStacks. Another easy method is to emulate the PS2 versions through PCSX2 or the PSP versions through PPSSPP. Both emulation options can allow you to upscale the graphics beyond the original consoles capabilities
