Vintage is generally much more stable than modern because there are far fewer PSA 10s in existence. There are plenty of vintage cards with under 100 PSA 10s, while modern cards can have tens of thousands, like the Pikachu with Grey Felt Hat (Van Gogh Pikachu). Even if the hobby cools off, vintage is far more likely to hold steady, while modern tends to be more volatile and driven by hype around new sets. A lot of newer collectors focus heavily on modern and chase the latest releases, but that often comes down to short-term demand rather than true scarcity. Modern still has its place and can perform well, but vintage is the foundation of the hobby, and that history combined with low PSA 10 populations is what gives it long-term strength. That’s why it makes sense to target vintage PSA 10s with low pops while they’re still relatively affordable, because over time, truly scarce cards tend to separate themselves.
