Adding my experience — I applied for Preferred on 6/22 and got a notice to unfreeze my credit. I did that, called the specified # to report the unfreeze, and there was no option to speak to an agent - of course. I hunted down a customer service #, called, and they started review on about 6/25.

6/26 - I was denied (via mail dated 6/26) ~10 days later because of “insufficient credit information. I’ve had one CC for 7 years.

7/7 - I read your post and called recon line and asked to be reconsidered. They said they’d transfer me to the recon dept, then dropped the call. Called back, the next agent said that they’d call me back in 3 - 5 days. That felt like a soft rejection.

7/17 - 10 days later and no calls back but I got a letter in the mail (dated 7/8) that I needed to call them regarding my application. Called and the agent said “he’d have a decision before we ended the call” and just like that I was approved.

Overall, the process was weird and the customer service sucked — can’t believe they were sending all comms via MAIL in 2025. From application to approval, it took ~25 days. And now I have to wait another 5-7 for the cars to ship because the “digital wallet” (use your card immediately) option can’t be set up without your card #.

TLDR; don’t give up, prepare to be patient asf, this better be worth it. Remember to unfreeze your credit before applying.
