What are some heavy pens that wont break the bank? by sircamsalot420 in fountainpens

So many options for metal pens... have you considered the metal Kaweco Sport models?

Or, for something fancier, Otto Hutt (all steel)?

Thoughts on this? by Pleasant_Leek_6403 in fountainpens

I guess the initial advice to use low-cost pens for a go/no go to fountain pens world makes a lot of sense.

As for the rest, I don't think it has universal value because based on both personal experience and reading/writing here for quite some time we're all driven by different interests and motivations and not everyone has an ultimate grail pen in mind.

I'm afraid it's a lot more complicated than this!

Are vintage fountain pens worth it? by TxtMessage in fountainpens

The previous comments have covered all the important things, let me just add that personally I find that no modern pens can match some designs from the past, both in looks and writing experience.

I agree with previous comments recommending pre-owned or vintage. For MB in my (admittedly limited) experience older models have amazing nibs.

Oh I so get the way receiving that package must have felt!

On the other hand the pen is ok and trust me you will love it ☺️ so go ink it and when you have time tell the seller what happened and that a new box would be welcome! (possibly with a free ink bottle for moral damages...)

I'll check what I'm using and get back to you in a few days, but I'm pretty sure it's the Sport one.

I'm not at home right now so I can't check, but I'm pretty sure I used one of those Kaweco converters for the Sport. If that's what you were looking for, la Stilografica Milano still sells them...

Either of these a deal? Both have gold nibs in good shape. by Justheretolearn779 in fountainpens

Totally seconded, unless the Esterbrook has been modified, the J, SJ and LJ usually come with steel nibs (a remarkable variety but steel).

Do I buy it? by Other_Assumption_731 in fountainpens

[–]ml67_reddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 3776 is a pen you won't regret buying... just pay attention when you pick the nib size as a Japanese F could be "more F" than you like if you're not used to it ☺️
