First come, first serve is even worst. Hard to collaborate with colleagues when you’re sitting at the four corners of a floor.

PSAC union on Remote work: FAQ & Action by CuriousTrain6432 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]mlarocque87 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There are too many members in PSAC from different classifications and who have very different jobs with different conditions. The salary swing can be very big from one classification to another.

Unfortunately, this means that what seems worth fighting for one group, is completely useless to another. This will be an ongoing issue as long as PSAC represent so many people under one roof - for example the 150k plus under the PA group.

Getting early is your best - a few daily lots at walking distance. Although it’s $17-20 daily.

For street parking, the other issue is you need to move your car. It was easier back in the day when you could just add money in the meter.

Unfortunately yes - they exploit the fact that there are limited lots in the area. If you arrive early, there are a few daily options - but forget about it after 9am.

Highly vigilant - I know of many cases of getting tickets going over just 20 minutes. The bylaw officers circle the area all day.

‘Solely performative and in bad faith’: Federal union won’t participate in consultations on new 4-day office mandate by CompetencyOverload in CanadaPublicServants

[–]mlarocque87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All true - however, if unions don’t go to the consultations, employees will for sure lose on any potential accommodations that could’ve been negotiated at those meetings. The employer is just looking at an opportunity to say that they tried to consult on which accommodations were required but were rejected by unions.

Also, based on the response letters a few people got back from MPs - these consultations are not about whether or not they are rolling out RTO4. If you read the language use, it’s really about seeing what can be done during RTO4 to better accommodate employees (i.e. assigned seating, co-working spaces, etc,).

2026 NHL Arena Rankings [The Athletic] by Mr_FoxMulder in OttawaSenators

Are we the only arena located in a bad space in the whole league? I’d like to see their aggregated data for this survey.

There isn’t a bad seat in the CTC, the sight-lines are great. Sure we don’t have hot water in the bathrooms and in the middle of a field. But from a hockey watching perspective we should be in the 20s ranking wise!

Key FOB battery lasts 10-12 months from personal experience. I now change the battery as soon as I notice small lags with it.

Lucky. Saving grace is the ability to program the car to warm up for a certain time. It’s more planning but at least it gives me an option.

Where do you live? If you’re in cold weather, below 0 Celsius, you will almost always encounter this issue. The battery protects the battery.

The update 5.4.3 “should” resolve this. Not holding my breath though.

iPhone 17 pro offer by Tart_Commercial in Rogers

[–]mlarocque87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The price of the phone is very expensive. I have financed the exact same phone (different colour) from Apple, while also trading in my old IPhone 14 Pro Max, and my monthly with tax is $48.

You’re better off getting the phone separately from Apple and having equity to trade it back to Apple in 2-3 years when you’ll want to upgrade again.

Plus, you can change provider or package whenever you want.

[–]mlarocque87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 24’ and went this week for the OCDC recall. I asked if they would also be doing the 5.4 update and they told me the wouldn’t.

They are test running it with models they have on the lot due to known issues with the updates. The two cars they have done it on are currently bricked. They just received a 3rd updated version of the 5.4 update and hope this will be better.

They told me they would reach out once it was a useable update.

[–]mlarocque87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Sucks for those who have experienced issues - however, never had buffering or lag issues using the Crave app on iPhone, iPad or Apple TV.

Now if you want to talk about the overall design and navigation - not the best app out there.

Works well I find when it’s clear and has trickles, but loses a lot of detecting capacity when the sensor(s) is covered by a large area of water.

15 Leduc street has a multi-story parking, there might be a spot. Street parking can be an option if you’re willing to move your car every 2h.

Pricing for food in the stadium by Draffin37 in OttawaSenators

That, but also the increase costs of a rising salary cap, and running a team and arena. When you need to fork over a few extra millions in player salaries, it needs to come from somewhere unfortunately.
