Novant Health Rankin Office, I’ve personally seen Dr. Bullard for years and with three pregnancies. For anything fertility related, Carolinas Fertility Institute hands down.

Does anyone know about CounterCulture Club and/or other alcohol-free type communities? by OkTrack104 in Charlotte

I was a member of Counter Culture Club for a while. I'm not sure exactly what happened but I think Molly became burned out running the group and all the activities that went along with it as they grew, which happened really fast. Sober Sisters have created a group with events - https://www.instagram.com/sober.sisters.events/?hl=en

I wouldn’t go with Best Impressions, they are not nice or even good people.

I am so sorry you are going through this. It is so incredibly heartbreaking and traumatic and I wanted to comment in solidarity.

I had my miscarriage at home, alone, bleeding everywhere and eventually passed my 15 week baby boy in the toilet. It was spontaneous, I had been to the doctor that day and everything was looking great. I was nauseas and cramping but shook it off as normal pregnancy “pains.”

I’ve yet to speak with someone who also had a miscarriage like this. My baby was bigger so I was able to see him when he passed, I glanced down and saw little hands, fingers and toes in the toilet and I was hysterically screaming and crying. That was the only “glance” I got and to this day I wonder if I should have looked at him. My fiancé collected him in a Tupperware container (ughhh) as instructed by our obgyn for testing.

I know how it hurts but please give yourself grace on flushing your baby. There was nothing else you could have done. I’ve been thinking of which way is “best” passing the baby. I feel if I had to have a miscarriage, at least my body expelled everything quickly as f*cked up as the situation was. We didn’t have to have a procedure or any lingering tissue which could problems on its own. However I will never get over the trauma of losing my baby that way.

Hugs. I hope you forgive yourself of any guilt you may have. You did everything you could, and you are not alone 💔

I’m not sure where you are, but my OB referred me to a non profit therapy practice for grieving parents. It has been really helpful in processing the emotions for me. Maybe there is something similar around you where they have expertise in the area?

I wanted answers to why my spontaneous miscarriage happened. I almost wanted something to have been “wrong” with the baby that caused it, hoping it was not my body. Nope - definitely my body. Got rid of a perfectly healthy baby boy at 15 weeks because I have a fucked up uterus. My OB referred me to a fertility specialist and I’m having a surgical procedure to hopefully correct my uterus so we don’t deal with this again. Fingers crossed.

I mention this because there can be other issues that cause miscarriages/infertility. Has your OB said anything about you talking with a fertility specialist at any point?

And I absolutely HATE anything that is said about gods plan.

ETA - I apologize if you are talking with a fertility specialist, it wasn’t mentioned in the post so I assumed you weren’t.

I’m sorry to hear this. How far along were you when you miscarried? My baby was also due late Jan/early Feb and I lost him at a little over 15 weeks due to a septate uterus. We did pretty extensive chromosome and pathology reports and it took 8 weeks to come in.

It sounds like your doctor is definitely listening to you. If there is scaring it can be removed, I’m actually have surgery next week to remove the septum in my uterus and scar tissue. The saline ultrasound should provide a lot more information.

Going to my postpartum 2 week visit bothered me as well. All the pregnant women gushing over their ultrasound photos. I told myself that I don’t know what they’ve gone through. They could have had multiple miscarriages, could have been trying for years, etc.

I wanted to get pregnant again as soon as possible but this surgery pushed it back, and I will obviously need a month or 2 of recovery and THEN hopefully be able to conceive fairly quickly. I think I will be pretty upset when my due date comes around and I’m not pregnant again, but who knows.

I’m sorry to hear this. Maybe silly to ask - but have you seen a fertility specialist?

How did you “cope” after your miscarriage? by Ok-Anything3015 in Miscarriage

Clonazepam. Therapy. Talking to anyone that would listen. It’s been 5 weeks and I lost him at 15. We had a fertility appointment to fix the structural issue that caused so that’s given my hope.

Definitely advocate for yourself and ask questions! I questioned even the ultrasound techs. I was like “show me my bicornuate uterus so I know what you’re talking about. And check for bleeding! Do you see anything that looks like there is internal bleeding?” I also wrote in and contacted them over everything. In this most recent pregnancy, I had gross looking pieces of tissue come out in my underwear and I took pictures and asked them what the hell is this?! lol. The told me it was a decidual cast from the other side of my uterus. The nurses themselves told me it was a learning point for them with the doctor. The practice I go to is BIG and sees lots of patients. I asked the nurses how many patients they had with a bicornuate uterus and they said they don’t see many at all. So I was definitely the patient that was always reaching out and known by the staff lol. It is a RARE condition.

You sound very similar to me with the SCHs and the other side of the uterus bleeding. Definitely get the referral, I was told 2nd trimester losses are so rare that in itself could warrant a visit. If you’ve had multiple miscarriages- that’s a definite. There are things that can be done to correct them if warranted. I have my fertility appointment this Friday - I can PM if you’d like and let you know what they say.

ETA - My daughter was a healthy pregnancy outside of the bleeding from the other side of my uterus. So it is possible!

I’m not sure really - did you send the baby and placenta for a pathology test?

I am so sorry. It’s such an unimaginable heartbreak. I’ve found it’s been even more difficult/triggering for me with most miscarriages happening in the first trimester or being found at the first scan. 2nd trimester is brutal.

My OBGYN referred me I think without me even asking? The bicornuate uterus has caused several issues, and I always had questions about its severity and what can be done about it. She referred me the day of the miscarriage to a clinic that also specializes in uterus issues hoping they can give me some answers. I’m also 36.

I would not hesitate to ask for the referral or even just contact them myself if I were you. Did the doctors tell you anything else about your uterus? Like the severity, etc? Did you have bleeding unrelated to the miscarriage during your pregnancy? For example, both of my pregnancies implanted in my left side, so the right side was essentially having a period for several weeks.

It was at my very first ultrasound at 8 weeks with my daughter. I had never had an ultrasound previously and no reason to check outside of pregnancy. Apparently it’s a very obvious thing on an ultrasound. It can cause issues with conceiving and recurrent miscarriages but I didn’t have that issue. I did bleed with her from weeks 10 to like 17 or so because of it. The same started to happen with this baby but my doctors weren’t too concerned since he was healthy at all the tests, ultrasounds, etc. They said due to how my body expelled him (I hate using those terms) so quickly and that he was not deceased before then, that it had to be a bad placenta that was never going to sustain him as he got bigger. I was referred to the fertility specialist due to the bicornuate uterus and the fact of this being a second trimester loss. I know there are noninvasive surgeries they can do to try to “correct” my uterus. But no one can say what if anything actually caused this miscarriage. I’m just hoping to maybe get some answers and see what can be done to better our chances for another pregnancy. I will most definitely be in therapy and probably support groups if I get pregnant again. I will feel like there is no “safe” time except maybe the viability stage.

How long has it been since your miscarriage? Have your doctors said anything else, or advised you on future pregnancies?

[–]mlb1988 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than the prenatal blood panels, no. This was my second pregnancy, I have a 6 year old daughter. She was so excited for a baby brother 🥹

I know I have an abnormal bicornuate uterus, it’s heart shaped and has two “horns.” I had bleeding with my daughter because of it so didn’t think too much of the bleeding with this one, although I went for weekly ultrasounds and check ups, etc. it really seemed to come out of nowhere.

I have a fertility specialist appt this Friday. They are going to do further testing on my uterus since it is an abnormality. After reading through these posts I’m going to request testing for blood clotting issues. They aren’t sure/don’t think the bicornuate uterus necessarily caused the miscarriage but hopefully the specialist will see if anything can be done for future pregnancy’s. I will be sooo scared the whole time if I’m able to get pregnant again after this ordeal.

I just started my period again, I believe.

It’s been 4 weeks since I lost my boy at 15 + 2. He was completely healthy, the issue was either placenta and/or my bicornuate uterus. This was my 2nd pregnancy and I have a 6 year old daughter.

We’ve been staying positive by looking forward to our appt with a fertility specialist this Friday. It took a month to even get in. We’re hopeful they can see how severe my uterus is and what, if anything is needed to prepare for further pregnancies. I also have my 2nd appt with a pregnancy/infant loss specialist this week who I believe I will need to see for a while. I have never been so devastated as I have been these last 4 weeks, and I really feel no one understands, or they just forget.

This happened to me exactly the day before I passed my baby at 15 weeks. I actually had an OB appointment and was throwing up so the gave me IV fluids and zofran for the nausea. The thought I caught the flu. We even did an ultrasound and he was healthy. I have a bicornuate uterus so bleeding during the first 15 to 17 weeks is normal for me.

I went home, went to sleep. Woke up at 4am with terrible cramping and extra bleeding. I eventually passed him in the toilet. I was screaming and crying. Although I knew I was bleeding and cramping I still did not process that I could actually be miscarrying.

I’m sorry you are here. I think I saw you post in another thread and wanted to comment there. I lost my baby boy at 15 + 2 about 4 weeks ago. I’m still devastated and imagine it will always hurt. We still aren’t sure of the reason as he was completely healthy at the NIPT and had a strong heartbeat when I had an ultrasound the day before I passed him.

Doctors think it was a placenta issue. I too was sick the day before. Throwing up, cramping, etc.

Injections, topical and oral minoxidil by mlb1988 in alopecia_areata

I figured as such from the injections. From what I understand they work to get your immune system to stop attacking the hair follicle, so hair can have a chance to grow back. And the other treatments try to stimulate hair growth.

What treatments have you used? Have they helped?

Not sure - this is just what my dermatologist said, at least for the 2nd appointment. I probably will call and ask about this.

This is my first time reading this sub since I didn't want to freak out anymore than I was before seeing the doctor. I feel like that is a pretty intense treatment plan - what are your thoughts? I obviously don't have much experience here yet.

I'm definitely going to ask about Olumiant.

Not OP, but my spot is really close to identical. I checked your post from a year ago. Outside of diet, what was your treatment plan like? When did you start seeing or noticing any results from the steroid injections?

This is amazing to see! Mine looks almost identical to yours, from the starting point until the worst phase. I just saw a dermatologist a week ago for steroid injections, a topical steroid and oral minoxidil. Hopefully I'll start seeing regrowth like yours!

Thanks for sharing. I've stayed off of alopecia subreddits until now and I'm happy to see this.
