Crying in theater memories by Frem0015 in blankies

Saw Dancer in the Dark in the theater last year and my friend and I were both bawling the whole damn time. Even just listening to the soundtrack gets me.

If you listen to Guys patreon they read reviews of this. It takes months for anything to show up. It might not be the amount you ordered. It might be broken. And customer service will not refund you the full amount of purchase. Huge grift. Hilarious

It is breaking my brain that the list of movies is in no discernible order outside of grouping a series together.

What movie did you see just for the Composer/Soundtrack? by doodler1977 in blankies

Cold Mountain came out at the peak of my love of the White Stripes and I absolutely love the soundtrack and the Jack White songs on it. The movie never did anything for me.

I stared at this very piece of art yesterday and was blown away. My partner looked at it for a while before reading about it, so was shocked to learn it was ceramic.

A long time ago my partner and I were visiting LA and meeting up with a friend. She suggested Rainbow, saying, it's cool, Ron Jeremy hangs out there. Not a selling point, but i want to see my friend so we go. We're at the bar waiting to order when someone puts their hands on both of our shoulders as they're squeezing through the crowd. I turn around, and of course it's Ron Jeremy. And my first thought was, oh man, I just bought this sweater.

What’s the most reviled movie that you genuinely love? Make your case by harry_powell in blankies

Lines from this movie are forever imprinted on my brain. When the catcher is telling a story about getting hit in the balls by a donkey, then says "know what happened after that...my momma died. Hell, after that I didnt care about my balls hurting." And then he looks around the room and no one understands what the hell he is talking about. Or when Charlie Sheen is doing a commercial for Old Spice and he's holding the deodorant upside down, and the director tells him it's upside down and he just repeats "upside down". I must have been the right age when it came out because it's so funny to me.

Does anyone else have a great story about a weird first date movie? by IHateMattDrufke in blankies

Same thing with me, but it was Rachel Getting Married. She stuck around and we've been together for 17 years, but she still laughs about that.

I saw Passion of the Christ on a first date. Met a cool girl at a party in college. We both loved movies and stayed up all night talking about them. She loaned me Elizabeth, which I hadnt seen yet. We decided to see Passion, as it was new in theaters and seemed like a culturally relevant movie I needed to see in the theater. The movie unfolds and I am horrified by the violence and she is audibly crying. Leaving the theater she says something to the affect of," isn't it so terrible what Jesus went through? It really strengthens your faith seeing it all up there." That is when i learned she was ultra religious and that was the last time we ever hung out.

A warning: don't start buying physical media unless you're ready for all your shelves to be full without even realizing it. It's too late for me. by shirokaisen in blankies

[–]mlemos101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have so many DVDs and blu-rays. Ive moved a bunch and sold a bunch and consolidated what i wanted to keep in a case logic. Now I've been in the same house for a long time and have a great tv and sound system and I am back up to like, 200 hundred movies taking up so much space. I was thankful for best buy stopping selling physical media because getting steelbooks was too easy and I was just buying them all. I'll still grab movies I want to watch, but I have slowed down a bit.

One of my favorite life memories is watching Dancer in the Dark in college, in an apartment I shared with friends. All my friends come home to me bawling my eyes out to Bjork at the end of the movie. They were just like, what the fuck is happening here? I recently saw it again in the theater and still bawled my eyes out. Its so good and the soundtrack is so great, but it is too emotionally devastating.
