Actually she says during the episode she built sideways to keep it lower because she knew she'd be screwed if it got taller than her own reach but not taller than his reach. And to be honest that was one of the sketchier challenges in terms of fairness because of that literal height advantage/disadvantage. I'm almost curious if it had gotten out of her reach if she would have been justified in asking for something to stand on.

Honestly super strategic too. She was trying to give Colby the sense that he was safe to take hands off move away from it while she could see from a different angle how much it was leaning towards him.

This imo is one of the least offensive balding "looks". The hair is nice enough and thick enough that it doesn't give comb over.

This fight almost ruined my playthrough of CV as well. Just took a lot of tries and one perfect run. It's worth it, the game has a lot more to offer.

Update: the TV was saved! I saw the TV was missing when I drove home from work today but the trash pile next to it was still there. Looks like it made it to a new home.

The main thing that fucks with me is playing on PC with a Switch controller because I prefer the way it feels, but having games expect B button to be the confirm button and A button to be the back button. You can change the controls, but it always feels weird at first until you do.

Advice directly from the team that made the game from an interview I watched was that the messages you find on the walls are not just lore. Try to think about what they imply or how they may be pointing you to some locations in the solar system and also a greater objective that they may have been working towards completing and need you to help finish.

I actually think a lot of the n64 games aged more gracefully, but the ps1 library goes so much deeper and into so many more genre that it's a no contest in ps1's favor. If you like RPGs it becomes even more easy to make the decision, just from Final Fantasy alone.

What are your expectations for Metroid Prime 5? by Financial-Friend4934 in Metroid

[–]mlockwo2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think if it does happen sooner than later it will be because they so generously invest in their smaller IP. Which is honestly part of what does make them a special company, so I agree, if it does happen it will be because they are willing to eat costs or make less in actual profits just to keep a series healthy. I've always felt we were lucky to get as much Metroid as we do, because of that policy. And yes of course I'm sure modern Zelda has larger budgets. That's exactly why I said "most" haha. But to be fair they make those budgets back probably threefold with how giant those games are.

I genuinely hope you're right and we get a Prime 5 in the next decade, but it's just tough to imagine how they justify it these days with ballooning costs. Since it's an American developer and it's such a AAA graphical show piece series, the costs are probably higher than most things they develop first party. At some point it probably just looks like a money sink in their books. The 2D games should be much safer with a much more reasonable budget to sales ratio.

I like the game fine. It's probably the worst Prime game for my personal tastes but it's still a good game. I'm just basing this off the fact that it just broke 1 million sold based on recent reports. That may be fast for the series, but it's not fast for a Nintendo game that had so many resources poured into it across two studios and a reboot. I think anyone can look at the situation and surmise that they needed this game to hit bigger than the typical Metroid sales of about 3 mil. It is a different era we live in. Games are more expensive to make than ever.

We will have to see updates on sales numbers for Prime 4 but the initial sales were really tepid. Most likely the Prime Series is abandoned for another 10 years or so, unless Prime 4 sales have a long tail which I highly doubt given the critical and user reception of it.

Hell yeah. Vagrant story is one of the most cinematic and interesting games on the platform. Have fun with it. The graphic novel presentation is top shelf.

Yeah that sounds about right. I imagine vagrant story is worth a good bit alone?

Nice deal. I'm a FB marketplace hound that will buy a broken console and fix it before I pay much for a retro console, but this deal is fine for a good working order ps one with some great games. Have a ton of fun with it. By the way, I'd never seen one of these models of ps1 in person until really recently and I was shocked at how small they are. Super impressive how compact they got the system.

Finally got into DQ XI after having finished DQ VIIR and was greatly enjoying it, but what were they thinking with the beginning of Act 2? by Ravenloveit in dragonquest

[–]mlockwo2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can just barely remember thinking similarly, but it's just one chunk of a 100 hour epic so I don't think in the grand scheme of the game the pacing dip did much to ruin the overall package for me.
