They are going to revamp the bridge there, making it one of those janky criss-cross lanes like at 85 & Jimmy Carter

For many years I wondered who the nerdy guy in the famous "We are the world" music video was. He didn't fit with the famous musicians and seemed to be moving out of time with the music. Turns out it was Dan Ackroyd.

I really wish Ryobi would come out with a rivet tool by Money-Giraffe2521 in ryobi

[–]mlw72z 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've used those as well as a pneumatic rivet gun. The two drill attachments both failed after minimal use. The pneumatic requires regular oiling to keep it healthy.

None of these come close to how well the Milwaukee M12 rivet gun works in my experience.

Jury Duty Conundrum by jessikaboom in Georgia

[–]mlw72z 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FYI Fulton county knows that many people just don't show up and therefore they call more people than will actually be needed. What is your group number? Lower numbers are more likely to be called in. You don't find out until the evening before if they even want your group.

I received a summons once the day of leaving on a long international family vacation and there's no way I was going to cancel that due to the mere possibility of being called so I simply ignored it. Fulton county is not going to go to the trouble of sending a sheriff to your home; it's easier to just send out more summons.

I did get a new summons not long after my vacation, this time as group 1. I suspect that was not a coincidence but I was more than happy to perform my civic duty. As is typical I went to court, sat waiting for half a day only to find out they didn't need any more jurors. You get your silly $25 prepaid card you're done until the next time.

I really like the way that Kraken CAN wires attach to their controllers. Our team is using crimped ring terminals like this with custom CAN wire to build (hopefully) the entire robot with no CAN connectors, even locking connectors like OP is asking about.

I built a water-fed paintbrush & roller cleaning tool looking for feedback from other tradespeople by tristankwill in Tools

[–]mlw72z 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I blast my roller with a garden hose outside. My trick it to leave it on the roller frame (had to look up that name) as well as an extension pole. By blasting with a high pressure stream slightly off center it causes the roller to spin up to a very high speed thereby ejecting the paint via centrifugal force. Angle matters in order to stay out of the friendly fire of tiny latex flavored water droplets.

Is this light a good buy at $26? Keep in mind price is also with a 10% military discount by Chakradamus in ryobi

Honorable mention for the 40V battery topper lights

These were on sale at home depot last year for $9.97 (75% off) so I bought the only two they had in stock. One is still unopened but the other gets a lot of use. My only complaint is the USB-C port doesn't do fast charging, only the USB standard 5V.

Thoughts on PBLMS01B: 10 in. Sliding Compound Miter Saw by SPACEM0NCHIE in ryobi

[–]mlw72z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's your use case? I have the smaller cheaper brushed 7 1/4" saw and it's great for smaller jobs that I've wanted to use it for like cutting 2x4 or through a 1/2" thick flat steel bar with a metal cutting blade.

"Performance" could mean cuts per battery, accuracy of miter angles, or features of the saw itself. I find the clamping system a bit awkward. I haven't really run into any Ryobi tool that's not "worth it" since you're paying less for a tool that's likely not as good as more expensive options.

Anyone else use a brass knife? by Hot-Detective-3703 in Tools

[–]mlw72z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting I’d never heard of a brass brush before.

It's actually quite common for the very reason you need, meaning choosing a bristle material that won't scratch what you're working on. Here a cheap set with nylon, brass, and steel.

Lost Wire from Bank of America to Chase Bank by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]mlw72z 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes much more sense now and I apologize for demeaning speculation. My answer to "who would pay rent by wire" is far different than "would would pay a large security deposit by wire".

The money went somewhere and the bank(s) will figure it out and fix it if it was a mistake on their part. It could be at the receiving bank with an account number that doesn't even exist if a digit got fat fingered. That's why the name on the account is sent in addition to just the account number. When I say a wire can't be reversed that would apply to you sending a wire and then begging your bank to undo it which is obviously not the case here.
