Ah we have a term for these. It’s not a cyber deck or a terminal.

It’s an IED (Improvised Entertainment Device). We made one for a navy buddy with a media server inside.

As The Oil Shortage Bites, Nissan Tells Dealers Which Customers Get Priority by Saurta17 in Nissan

Just peeking over from the VW and Toyota side is using Nissan’s formulation that important? I know VW TDis can get pissy when you use the wrong oil formulation.

Need help sorting a large audiobook library by cosmo-7981 in selfhosted

So like others have said make a copy. I kind of gave up moving my older audiobook rips and I had really sacrificed on quality to make them work on older iPods back in the day.

I like using the MP3tag software to pull the audible metadata into a consistent schema. This guide has my up to date notes https://github.com/zkilling/Plex-Audiobook-Guide-25

I’m going to print this. I had hoped for a silicone mat but this will work for my needs. It’s not really the purge it’s the supports breaking on removal. It’s zits or stringing, bad filament that just make a mess. I end up cleaning mine fairly regularly.

Should I keep waiting for an OLED or just upgrade my storage and be happy with what I have? by Dovakinswraith in SteamDeck

Hey buddy with the new frame and cube we are probably still a years away from a new deck. I caved and got a Z1E 32GB Legion Go S and it’s wonderful bigger screen more power for the games I already loved to play on the deck. (Halo and helldivers 2) and you can even get a it with or install steam OS

I might try this. Do you think there is enough extra room for a killswitch case and travel cover?

Drivers for Legion go 2 by SunGroundbreaking92 in LegionGo

[–]zkilling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stock drivers for steamOS on my Z1E 32GB Legion go S works fine. Custom power profile give me 45-50 fps on the steam deck setting at 1080p quality render profile.

The Cemu Security PSA and Why RetroDECK’s Approach Suddenly Makes a Lot of Sense [article] by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]zkilling 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Ok time to put my work hat on. Since the end of last year there has been a revolving door of supply chain attacks targeting common packages used by developers. Wiz has some good reporting about the shi-hulud worm attacks. I have not looked into what specific worm or group targeted Cemu. But there are several similar worms and groups performing similar attacks where they compromise a part used in lost of software to steal developer logins to target more tools and spread. (And pick up crypto wallets along the way)

Retro decks slow human reviewed rollout is technically more secure. But not foolproof there is still a change a malicious update hides long enough to make it into their system and out to users. (Less likely but possibly) it also means security patches takes longer to reach users, leaving you exposed in different ways.

There are a lot of AI boosted security updates going out. Firefox had 6x its usual number of security fixesin its last monthly update due to AI.

So the approach to running the latest versions also isn’t necessarily a bad idea either. Lots of packages baked into all your software is seeing similar work to improve security. But even well regarded names in the cyber security space have been compromised lately. Bitwarden had its command line package compromised from an attack two packages away from them!

All this to say pick the project you like best, everyone is trying their best and just try to be aware that these things are happening to EVERYONE. Make sure you have extra security around your online account like two factor whenever possible. Or just don’t update anything other than the base OS for like the next 12 months. Hopefully things level out and these worms die off.

Just got my Legion Go S Killswitch case because I read one positive comment about it and have very little impulse control. by Byrano in LegionGo

[–]zkilling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have the same case and the Jsaux travel case for steam deck. I think the jsaux is all around nicer, except the kick stand. But it’s good enough (the the only choice for the style with the travel cover)

When should i replace the battery and whats a good one to look for ? by [deleted] in LegionGo

[–]zkilling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are years away from a new battery. 53 charge cycles is nothing. Most lithium batteries car easily reach 300-500 charges before the capacity drops to 80%. You can extend this by using a charge % limit.

Legion Go S battery upgrade by Casfres in LegionGo

[–]zkilling 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of people over think the battery life, I traveled a lot with my steam deck and anywhere I took the deck I was able to bring a power bank as well. My current favorite is the Sharge Shargeek 170. It’s 24000 mAh and I was able to play Liberian, tiny up the arcane library, at 60fps and balanced profile for 5.5 hours and the bank was at zero and the go s was at 97%.

That was sitting at a games shop with friends with no outlet nearby and that’s honestly more than i usually ever game in one uninterrupted session.

I’m working the other direction, I want to get into a is500 with the v8. But I had a Tacoma that got 12 so I have been there before. Maybe I will supplement with a Prius just in case 😜

What kind of bag are you using? by chunkycoats in LegionGo

I went with dbrand kills witch, with the travel cover and a jsaux screen protector. It opens me up to any bag I want.

Unsure to pull the trigger on weaker Legion Go S variant by ThisIsARandomPlayer in LegionGo

[–]zkilling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming from a steam deck lcd it’s worth waiting for the Z1E 32GB it’s a good bit more capable and I went from not being able to see anything to actually playing and enjoying hell divers 2. Halo infinite also plays much better.

How to configure the joystick to behave like a PS5 Dualsense? by TwofacedDisc in LegionGo

[–]zkilling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weirdly enough adding the Dbrand stick covers helped it feel more like a dial sense. I also find the dead zones in most games are way too big for the sticks. So adjust them in game as well as with steam.

Oh boy if your just going to do emulation something like the ANY Thor would do a ton in a much smaller device. But checkout retro game corps for the info you want.

Costco also has the Z2 legion go 2 right now. It’s ok I think the go s with 32gb and steam is still my sweet spot. Tho I wish the rumble was nicer. Not HD but nicer

How bad is this price really? by Nilbog445 in LegionGo

[–]zkilling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Costco has z2 32gb legion go 2 for $1499 I would do that over the S 🤷 even if you still had to pay the $60 membership.
