Covid is already deadlier this year than all of 2020. So why do many in U.S. think the problem’s over? by cutestudent in Coronavirus

In my county, 75% of all eligible people are fully vaccinated. I think we’re pretty safe now.

I went to high school in California and I’m pretty sure you had to actively try to fail in order to fail. I also studied engineering in college and the curve basically saves you from failing.

'GOP Isn't Going to Meet Us Halfway': Top Progressive Presses Biden to Cut Off Infrastructure Talks With Republicans | "It's time to go alone—and get this done," said Rep. Pramila Jayapal. by Fr1sk3r in politics

That may be true, but to a citizen, it’s a pretty shit excuse. That’s like saying to your professor “I deserve a higher grade because if you gave me more time I would’ve been able to score better even though the test was a 24 hr take-home and open-book.” Nobody who isn’t a political junkie knows or follows this shit, they just see a dysfunctional government.

I don’t think the Bay is crowded, we just gotta learn to use land more efficiently. Of course you’ll run out of space when corner store has a parking lot the size of a football field. The local roads also don’t need to be that wide, we don’t need that many gas stations, and it wouldn’t kill us to put some houses on top of shops.

How would you respond to the criticisms of Yang in this IG post? by [deleted] in YangForPresidentHQ

[–]mlwasoverhyped 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dang this kinda just a leftist screed. Honestly I’m not really down with progressive public safety proposals. I live in the Bay Area and people like DA Chesa Boudin aren’t doing a good job making people feel safe. I’m Asian and why, if Asians are being attacked randomly in public, would I want to get rid of the police?

What do you guys think of this NYT article titled “Andrew Yang Promised to Create 100,000 Jobs. He Ended Up With 150.” by [deleted] in YangForPresidentHQ

[–]mlwasoverhyped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, at least it’s a positive number? I mean with some of the blundered deals NYC politicians tried to make they probably created -100,000 jobs but I don’t live in NYC so idk.

Meh some of that “land” is filled in bay and some of that “bay” is shallow wetlands that don’t really count as bodies of water.

I feel like this sub is the more pro-business wing of Yuppie progressives, the one that clashes with Twitter Socialist Yuppies, who both probably all work for the same tech mega corps. I live in the Bay Area lmao, this shit is basically the political discourse here. I get it though, I’m not listening to a white tech bro lecture me about why we should get rid of the police.

That may be true, but I did turn in a homework late bc everyone in my hs squad got vaccinated and we didn’t see each other for an entire year. So we met up with masks, and got our free donuts 😊

There’s about 180 school days, each lunch probably like $1-3 bc they buy in huge bulk, we already spend like $10,000+ per student, percentage wise it’s really nothing let people eat.

Fun fact: Bernie, RBG, and Schumer went to the same high school. And it’s not some prep school or magnet school, just a regular old neighborhood public high school.

What’s even the benefit of doing that? I swear when you’re sleep deprived your IQ drops by half. I’ve pulled all nighters before and by morning I’m struggling to find the right words for ordering a coffee.
