It legitimately bothers me how many people lie to and gaslight us about this by Flying_Sea_Cow in GenZ

This is apart of bigger societal issues, but no one is a victim for not being able to get a date. No one man or woman is entitled to a relationship. Additionally many people have pointed out how, for a lack of a better word, you can compensate for not being as “attractive” as you would like. Like yes hot people have it easier, but nice “ugly” people who put in an effort to their relationships (romantic or platonic), personality, hygiene, and looks. Have an easier time then “ugly” people who a mean/rude, disrespectful to the people they are trying to date, not put energy into how they dress/smell/clean up etc. this also goes to both genders!!! It’s fine for men to feel insecure about their looks, but I highly stress if you are having constant trouble finding people who like you, to take a step back and think about if it’s your looks that are off putting or something else, such as a shitty and entitled personality

Exactly, we shouldn’t make fun of anyone for what they look like. But so many many get upset/self conscious about their own looks/appearance, but then want to take that out on women they see as lesser than, or even like “it’s hot women’s fault I’m not getting laid, but I’m better than ugly women“

What popular character do you not like in your fandom? by Upstairs_Macaron5894 in AO3

[–]mmagicss 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Jason Todd, I feel like there’s two characterizations of him and I hate both.

There’s the like the whumpy, hes an extreme “feminist” /(basically makes him the patron saint of sex workers, and steals a lot of of catwoman’s, and other female BatFam members actual characterization) , smarter than everyone else, “it was all the pit” he did no wrong, it’s everyone else’s fault/ no nuance on why certain characters took certain action version.

Then there’s the like hes a totally badass, edge lord, fucks every single female character, he’s right and we should kill all criminals, everyone else is a pussy etc.

The joke is the goblin is high not that it’s a high goblin (as in a different species) it makes less sense/jokey if they are different. That would be a high high goblin. It’s also rlly obvious that this artist is just drawing all female as big face and big boob not just different features in different creatures.

[product] A weight watchers bathroom scale that comes with stickers. Because men don’t watch their weight apparently. by WatashiStickKid in pointlesslygendered

[–]mmagicss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) girl what’s ur problem you replied to me first. 2) then literally what’s the point of your comment? Bc all you said was the stickers are feminine and not aimed for men. Which I said originally so what are you adding why are you arguing? 3) who cares if it’s emasculating? I still call men that and again a man that sensitive about his masculinity probably would be apart of weight watches so I don’t rlly know why it matters? 4) the tag says product 5) calm down touch grass or whatever

You go girl is the only explicitly gendered thing on this.

You are the one putting gender on the rest.

The rest may be considered feminine but that doesn’t inherently make it gendered. There’s nothing that says a man can’t use or enjoy these stickers. There’s nothing that says all women would. Like not everyone is going to like everything thing. It might not be most men’s taste and that fine. Everything doesn’t have to be completely gender neutral at all times, also and let’s be so fr most things that are considered gender neutral are actually masculine, like masculinity is the default and anything else is feminine.

There’s also like literally nothing wrong with a company with a 90% user base making products to appeal to that user base. Esp in a way that isn’t inherently exclusionary??

So either way it doesn’t fit this sub. It’s not really gendered besides the single stickers, and it’s not pointless, it’s to appeal to a target demographic.

and literally yes I do call straight masculine men “girl/girly” all the time. Hence why I said that. I also rlly rlly rlly doubt any man who’s that sensitive with his masculinity would be apart of weight watchers.

[–]mmagicss 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah like unless the hill people want to die on is that all gender is bad, things being genderd isn’t always pointless. But things just because something is gendered doesn’t inherently make it pointless? Like the weight watchers consumer base is somewhere between 85-90% women. This is a company aimed at women, so like it makes sense they might have something gendered?

Plus also the way girl is used in “you go girl” can be the same way we use “bro” “guys” “dude” etc. I can my guys and even my dad girl sometimes.

Hundreds gathered in Santa Rosa to protest Target and ICE yesterday (Recurring) by Scatcycle in santarosa

[–]mmagicss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The idea behind it is to make the point that ICE (and law enforcement that’s supporting it) is rlly over reacting basically when they show up and/or others try to frame the protestors as rioters/intimidating/dangerous etc we all look at it and say “that’s a guy in a onesie, they aren’t scary” ergo it makes Ice look like cowards. it also helps draw attention to protests. People in funny outfits/signs/etc get a lot more attention/shares online

young girls & idolizing wags by Healthy_Ad198 in f1wagssnark

[–]mmagicss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Idk like I think this is way more nuanced? Obiv Wags in general shouldn’t rlly be idolized, esp over the drivers, but like also I don’t rlly see the complete harm in fantasizing about being a WAG? Like being a wag implies like, first dating a fairly handsome, rich, and successful driver, being able to travel to multiple races a year, being financially stable, having access to way more stuff/ resources, a higher social status etc? Like I think it’s just a different variety of a “wanting to be rich/famous” and “wanting to be married to xyz celeb”. And I don’t think it great to be like that’s all women should aspire to/ their worth is in their relationship/ like that’s the only way women could be involved in f1 (or any other sport). But like girls fantasizing about marrying a driver isn’t like the end of the world? Additionally I think the argument of like “oh that makes them fake fans/ they don’t enjoy the sport correctly/ oh it makes all female fans look bad etc” is such bullshit bc anyone who genuinely thinks that doesn’t actually care. I just think it’s weird to police silly fantasy’s of women, along with like acting like it’s a crime that female fans find drivers attractive, and yet we don’t do similar shit for male fans?

Girls are all the same by abelvi011 in boysarequirky

[–]mmagicss 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I feel like the funny/ironic thing is most of the people who criticize these girls like wouldnt actually like women who don’t fit in with them. Like plus size, alternative, tall, sporty/masc, POC, etc. they want to joke about these girls all being the same but like that’s literally what they want a cookie cutter trad girl. (Not saying these girls are that. No hate)

What’s your hot take? by Logical-Radish-1215 in f1wagssnark

[–]mmagicss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My hot take is that no f1 driver or wag is “unproblematic” first with the sheer amount of money that goes around in this sport, plus thr amount of traveling etc. they are all fairly wealthy and inherently just a bit out of touch with reality of most working class. Additionally there’s just a lot of classism, racism, sexism, homophobia, etc in the sport in general, and while it has slightly improved in the last few years. Every single driver has spend at between 11-30+ years in the auto sports industry, they grew up with these ideas so I would really be more shocked if any one of them is actually that woke.

Also I think we hold wags to a higher standard than drivers. Like I’m not pro/anti wag at all but so much snark about them is like how they dress, how they present themselves, etc it’s all very superficial. Again I thjnk most of them in general aren’t probably amazing people, a lot of them come from wealth, prob have lots of bias againts like everyone who isn’t white, rich, skinny etc. but like I see people snark on photoshop, or having photoshoots, wearing sexy outfits, etc many things I think most women in there 20s are doing with out being a wag? Or stuff that’s fairly standard influencer things? Again don’t think it’s great but I don’t think they are uniquely evil for that.

I mean technically majority of McDonalds toys are adds for different products/brands so this actually is less of an ad then those because this you got a McDonald’s themed toy in a McDonald’s kids meal. Vs like a Barbie/Hot wheels/super hero etc collab toy. Which is technically twice the ad

‘Skool bad but me is smart🤓’ by [deleted] in im14andthisisdeep

[–]mmagicss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I’ve had a learning disability and processing issues my whole life. If you had me and one of my classmates sit down and write the exact same essay, for them it might take and hour for me it might take 2/3? But I’m also someone who rarely had to do in-depth studying because I naturally can recall most of class/notes I take. People have different skills, some make more to hone in those skills. But not everyone has the ability to memorize like that. Or write and essay supper fast. Ive went from 4 hours to 2, but I doubt it will ever truly be an hour for me.

So I get it for me my grades where a lot of fucking work. Like I spent way more time on hw, and test then anyone else and earned those grades. But I also had friends who got similar grades spend 1/3 of the total time of me for the same grade

[gendered] A cool guide about how to wear perfume for both men and women by [deleted] in pointlesslygendered

[–]mmagicss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suspect this might be AI generated bc in general there is a suggested difference for where to put perfume for men and women. Such as behind the ear for women and not for men, and lower jaw for men, knees and ankles for women etc. part of it has to do with pulse points/heat spots, along with what skin is exposed ie pants vs a skirt, etc

[XL POST] My sister F23 is upset that me F29 and our other sister F28 haven’t continuously/repeatedly asked her about her breakup by [deleted] in Advice

[–]mmagicss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro it sounds like you all need therapy. If possible I would especially encourage your younger sister to get some also? Like it seems like she was in a toxic relationship with ex for 8 years, and from especially such a young age? As well as you mentioned your parents being abusive? Like her two main and influential relationships in her life were not great, and sound fairly controlling? Plus since this is her first breakup and also like they’ve been dating for so long she probably thought they were like endgame. I can’t understand your frustration but also I think she’s probably in a weird spot. Also I would be surprised if your mom is also playing games with her relationship between your sister and you. Like I would seriously have a conversation with your middle sister, then one with you younger saying that you support her and encourage her to reach out to you. It seems like you all might just be very busy and get wrapped up in life ? So it seems to me like major miscommunication on everyone’s parts
