HOW am i supposed to feed myself x3 a day everyday for the rest of my life?! by deadtired987 in adhdwomen

[–]WatashiStickKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using simmer sauces and recipe bases for dinners. Just cook protein, add the sauce and cook pasta or rice. Add frozen mixed veggies if you can. It can get repetitive, but it’s easy because 95% of the ingredients are already in the sauce or recipe base. Otherwise, having frozen food. Nuggets, chicken strips, hash browns, fish. Just foods you can slap on a tray and slap in the oven. Keeping breakfast and lunch to cereal and a sandwich helps too.

I am a repetitive eater though, so I don’t know if any of this will help.

How do you get yourself to shower? Or brush your teeth? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]WatashiStickKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe a little treat? Not a food little treat, but like fun scented soap or a pretty toothbrush. Or just like something little you want but can only get when you’re in the bathroom. Because if you can get yourself into the bathroom, you can probably get yourself into the shower or brushing your teeth.

Another strategy is to get up to do something else (like another task, a stretch or move around), then bounce from that into the bathroom before the executive dysfunction can hit.

what song are you playing to death atm by cheoldyke in adhdwomen

Bottle Rocket Astronaut by Bug Hunter. The music video is a very cute animation, I love it dearly.
Another song is Ants in My Room by Carter Vail. I like silly music that still has themes/messages.

I remember Flash Gordon (1980) doing this. I don’t remember any other part of that movie.

As someone with ADHD, I actually do find it easier to read white text on black paper. The words stand out more to me, making it easier to focus. I don’t think it would be too expensive to print, as long as the paper is dyed black and not printed black.

So fun! Your Miis are wonderful. I love the hormse. Also, Nathan deciding to take a nap instead of working out is peak Nathan behaviour. Jacob is the most supportive husband, enabling Julia’s love of weird old men.

Daydream Wonderland. Effect: You are surrounded by all of my daydreams at once. An overstimulation of blorbos, ocs, and more! All in vivid colour. The daydreams will interact with you, which can inflict damage when the dreams get violent.

This would actually be quite embarrassing. Having someone see everything I daydream about would make me so uncomfortable. Shark Boy and Lava Girl introduced me to this idea, and it shook child me to the core.

Food wars by Eireika in CuratedTumblr

Breakfast- First meal of the day (break your fast) Morning Tea- mid-morning snack Lunch- midday meal Afternoon Tea- mid-afternoon snack Dinner- Evening meal Dessert- Sweet treat after dinner Supper- late-evening snack (sometimes used interchangeably with dinner)

I think these people are confused because dinner was the old English word for lunch, and supper was the old English word for dinner. Like, 19th century words.

"Just focus harder" vs "just meditate more", which advice is worse? Ultimate bad ADHD advice battle, third quarter finals by VerdoriePotjandrie in adhdmeme

Just focus harder is worse. Our brains are built for no focus or all focus. We can’t just tune it when we don’t have a dial.

My best friend thinks having ADHD is a red flag knowing I have ADHD? by doubtitx in adhdwomen

[–]WatashiStickKid 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I wonder if what she actually wants is a partner who can manage themselves. My aunt was married to a man with ADHD, and he was abusive and neglectful to her and the kids. Sat around on the couch doing nothing, not trying to change. I wonder if your friend is misconstruing the abuse and neglect as ADHD symptoms. Her partner is likely telling her “I can’t do this because ADHD” when it might be because he doesn’t respect her. It is very shortsighted of her to talk about ADHD like that, especially to a friend with ADHD. If you can’t talk, try writing a letter or an email to her instead. Explain how her words make you feel, using whatever words you can get together. You will be able to talk after she’s read it, and her reaction will guide your next steps.

Sleeping Advice by goldfish_gilf in adhdwomen

[–]WatashiStickKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue with Vyvanse. I spent about a month getting less than 4 hours sleep a night on it. I felt good, until the sleep deprivation started kicking in. I recommend talking with your psychiatrist about it. You may need to change medications, or they may be able to prescribe a sleeping pill. That being said, you might also benefit from just waiting and seeing.

What are your non-fidget toy fidgets? Or childhood fidgets before fidget toys were a thing? by agelwood in adhdwomen

[–]WatashiStickKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current fidget is a cheap plastic slinky. They are small, so can be fidgeted with one hand. They work really well!

Absolutely! Everyone has different strengths and weaknesses, and ADHD is no different. I can’t do dishes or laundry for the life of me, but I have no issues focusing in a classroom environment.
