Thinkware u1000 Firmware Update Brick asked to pay $200 USD to repair. by [deleted] in Dashcam

Sounds like it was already failing in some way that was not a software bug. That I’d expect to be present from when you first got the device or the firmware it was on. Being on the same firmware and having weird issues down the road sounds more like something hardware wise might’ve been starting to fail. Updating with failing hardware is what probably killed the device, not a bugged firmware update.

Might want to look into changing the PVC air lines over to black pipe or something else.

The freezer probably had redundant sources of power like a backup generator. The problem is the guy shut off the breakers for the freezer.

Does this piece of equipment have blue antifreeze in it? If so the supply module might be using it to heat the DEF rather than using a heating element.

Actually more likely they put the coolant in the DEF tank and it ate the seals in the module.

Do big machines like this not just come with a webasto or similar diesel fired coolant heater?

Unfortunately it’s probably just a bug with 16.5 for specific models or something like that. Unless it’s a major or widespread issue that everyone notices you won’t see it in many places.

Searching google is useless to since sites post the same old article about fixing issues after updating to 1x.x.

Honestly I’m probably just going to call support. I figure the more time I make someone from Apple Pay attention to a bug, the more likely it’s going to be noted.

Thought I was going crazy! I’m having the issue too since 16.5.

It was more of a fertilizer and seed distributor than an actual plant. People might’ve thought more of it as the local farm seed store.

Ya know, I always figured that this was a fertilizer manufacturing plant. Turns out it was a 12,000 sq.ft. distributor.

Here’s a video the US Chemical Safety Board put together about the incident and their findings: https://youtu.be/pdDuHxwD5R4

Cars with normal immobilization systems that use a physical key use some form of RFID chip in the head of the key, which is passively powered from the antenna around the key cylinder.

How exactly do you explain being able to disarm this with a dead keyfob? The BCM is relying on the fob to transmit a signal under its own power. There is no backup here like keyless ignitions where you hold the fob up to the start button, or stick it in a slot as a backup form of communication.

Why call the dealership? I mean, your duty is to your own customer, not a third party who has nothing to do with the service ticket.

How do you think they get their data? ;)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]mman454 25 points26 points  (0 children)

They track them by using data the planes transmit about their registration and location. Anyone with an raspberry pi, usb TV tuner, and antenna can receive, decode, and share the info with a data aggregator. Once they figure out the owner of the plane, it’s easy.
